Every month I host Mom’s Favorite, a free comedy show at Old North Bar in Durham. This month’s lineup is extremely fun and includes 2024 NC’s funniest winner EJ Masicampo! There’s also a hotdog cart out front that gives out one free glizzy per person and an very excellent cocktail/mocktail list put together by one of the owners who was formerly at The Crunkleton and Hawthorne and Wood. If you’re looking for a cheap date this is the show to catch!

My husband got a job offer in Raleigh that we are likely accepting. We live in Michigan currently. We’re flying in this Wednesday to spend a few days exploring the area and looking at houses. Looking at houses in Cary (good schools are important to us). Any advice on where to go to explore the area? We’ll have our 2.5 and 5 year old with us and it’s going to be HOT. Splash pads? Playgrounds? Museums? Kid friendly restaurants?
Any other random insights about living in Cary would be so appreciated. Do you enjoy living/ raising a family here? I’m incredibly nervous and excited 😬
Any recs for a dog groomer who is patient with a dog with grooming anxiety? I’ve groomed my poodle myself for the past three years because she has extreme grooming anxiety but frankly tired of doing it and looking for a trustworthy groomer.
I had been patiently waiting for my turn to cross the street. The pedestrian light lights up; I try to cross and as i start walking this guy driving a Tesla forcefully tries to make his right turn and refuses to stop.
Like wtf is going on??? What is so important that you would willingly risk running over someone with your car? Things have been out of control for a while now and i am sick of hearing about how the town is working on improvements that have yet to come!

I’m 6’3” and have played competitive leagues for the past few years, but I’m also down to join a casual league to just have fun, get other players involved involved, and get a little cardio. But Cary shouldn't just be shutting down this service they should be RELOCATING it. I don't need a billion dollar park, I need easy access to services like this.

August/ 2026: Does anyone know if Bravos recently changed hands? We have been longtime customers and we noticed the preparation of the food has really declined. We also haven’t seen the owners there for several months. They are a lovely couple and I hope they are ok!
I realize there are more authentic Mexican joints near by, it’s the closest to where we live for an easy weeknight takeout and we like supporting these good folks!
Heya, I live halfway across the country but my nephew's birthday is coming up and I wanted some input from parents of 1 year olds in Cary on places that I could gift a membership to for a birthday present.
I am looking for suggestions that are specifically in Cary to make it as easy as possible for them to visit often.
As far as I know, Cary does not have a zoo or aquarium or that sort of attraction, if I'm wrong, please let me know! Barring that, what are some places you've taken your 1 year old to that you'd go again and again if you had a membership?
NOTE: someone has accused me of "shilling" and being "associated" with Azami, and that is simply not true. They also pointed out that Azami is Asian fusion and not really Japanese, and that is true. My mistake on that one. For proper Japanese cuisine my favorite place in Cary is Kashin at Cary Crossroads - they are awesome. Maybe they should be one of my next reviews? I chose to review Azami because I thought it would be more fun reviewing a new business instead of an already established one that many will already know about.
I've been wanting to try my hand at some food reviews, and tonight I tried a new JapaneseAsian fusion restaurant in Cary, NC called Azami that just opened this month (August 2026), so I figured I would start there. To be clear, I am not in any way affiliated with Azami (or any restaurant), and have not received any payment or promise of compensation for this review, or any review in the future.
TL;DR - Azami is very good and recommended! We (my wife and I) were actually heading to Georgina's Italian restaurant for the last time tonight, but as it turns out they've already closed. Such a shame, as they were a wonderful place. So, as a consolation prize we decided to try Azami as we often drive past their sign on High House. We were not disappointed.
We started with the Yaki-Gyoza ($7.99) and Red Curry Dumplings ($8.99). The Yaki-Gyoza were stuffed with chicken, and the Red Curry Dumplings seemed to be the same as the Gyoza, except they were prepared in red curry sauce which was tasty but not too strong or overly hot to my tongue.

For entrees, we had the Teriyaki Steak ($24.99), ordered medium, and the Red Spicy Oil Ramen ($16.99), ordered with added shrimp (just $2 extra). We both agreed the steak was better than expected! Nicely prepared, perfectly cooked, and quite a generous portion. The ramen was also very good, and I was glad I added the shrimp as they were delicious. The red spicy oil provided a nice little kick to the otherwise mild broth.

Finally we had a dessert comprised of 4 different frozen ice cream mochi. There was a mango, macha, strawberry and I think some sort of melon flavor. All were creamy and delicious.
We would've liked to have tried one of their bar offerings, but they are still waiting for their liquor license to be completed. Next time, perhaps!
I will also mention how nice the interior looks, with red and black accents and comfortable lighting.

Service was also notable, with pleasant and attentive staff and a very fast kitchen. The manager, David, made sure to ask if diners were satisfied with the food and seemed to enjoy interacting with his customers.
Overall, we were quite pleased with Azami and look forward to going there again. A nice addition to Cary's already solid collection of Asian restaurants.
Anyone know of a good builder/carpenter/contractor that will fix or replace about 19-20 feet of fence (including the fence door)? The other sides of the fence are connected to the neighbors property and in good condition, so I don’t need the whole fence replaced/fixed; just the one side facing the woods. Lowest quote I got was for $1200 and that still seems very high. Any suggestions/opinions? Thank you!

it was only a matter of time. They really need to make that greenway crossing safer. People fly down that hill and never brake/stop for pedestrians or cyclists.
Dropped in for their opening weekend and it was tasty. Located in the old Red Lobster space, it was packed. $40 for dinner, $26 for lunch. Had four rows of buffet lines, a ramen-grill area, drinks and desserts in refrigerated cases. Tons of food options ranging from crab, fish, shrimp, grilled lamb chops, pork belly, soup, Chinese-American dishes, and more.
I’ll probably head back when it’s quieter for lunch and a bit cheaper. Overall a good experience, just a bit hectic now.
Looking for 1 more male player for a coed flag football team that plays Monday nights starting this Monday. Cost is ~$90 for a guaranteed 9 games. The league is run through Trisports Social Club.
Our team is experienced and plays in the competitive division so looking for someone who has played before. That being said, the team is very laid back personalities and playing to have fun/get exercise. If you're going to get way too into it and start screaming at refs/other players it's probably not a good fit.
