A product with an interesting color feature but weak clumping can create more waste and make the box harder to maintain. On the other hand, excellent clumping alone does not provide an additional visual cue. Ideally, cat owners should not have to sacrifice one for the other.

Health-observation features can add value, but they should not compensate for poor everyday performance. A litter still needs reliable clumping, odor control, manageable dust, and reasonable weekly consumption.
