Power outage across the region.
According to WCIA, there are still 3000+ homes without power between Decatur and Mahomet. Ameren webpage is no help. I wondered if anyone has heard a legitimate reason for the outage and when they might get it resolved.

LaHood is a Liar!
I got a call from a 309 number I didn’t know, Saturday night. Not sure what made me pick up, but I’m glad I did!
At first I thought it was a non-partisan survey but later realized that it was actually a “push poll” that LaHood had hired. Towards the end, the “questions” were very slanted in LaHood’s favor and the last “questions” contained outright lies about Paul Nolley.
Among the Nolley comments stated were that he wanted to raid senior’s savings, was not a friend of Israel and even suggested he would be using tax payer’s money to mutilate children.
I was disgusted by the end. However, each time I answered that I was strongly in favor of Paul Nolley. I apologized to the gal who was hired, for her being put in that position! She had a hard time understanding and speaking English, so I’m pretty sure LaHood didn’t even use a U.S. calling service 😳

Paul Nolley and Darin Lahood will be participating in a public forum that will air on WTVP. The public can submit questions. The second slide about sums up my questions to Lahood.

WPBL bobblehead trade request
I posted this in r/WPBL, but I figured I'd cast a wider net, just in case some local folks may have gone to these games, but don't follow the league closely.
I'm hoping somebody can help me out and I can help somebody out.
- I'm looking for an Ayami Sato from the August 8th game.
- Probably a Hyeonah Kim from tomorrow night's game. (We will be out of town and I'm pretty sure we won't be back in time.)
If you can help me with either of those, here is what I can offer in return:
- Kelsie Whitmore
- Ashton Lansdell
- Alli Schroder
- I have a couple of foul balls that I may be willing to part with one
- I have non-WPBL bobbleheads from our local teams, if that is your interest
I don't use any other socials, so if you know of one available, I'd appreciate any help.
Not only is the WPBL awesome, but I have been collecting bobbleheads from our local teams going back to the Speedy days of the Springfield Sliders. I'd love to keep my streak alive.

Farm job for a recent college graduate?
Hi everyone! I just graduated from UIUC in may 2026 and am taking a couple of years to work and explore life a bit before going to law school. Does anyone know how to find a job working on a farm around here? Open to full time, part time, seasonal, really any sort of job available. I have about 15 years of experience working with horses, some experience with cows, and am a quick learner. I am very passionate about livestock and farming in general and would love an opportunity to get some more hands-on work experience during this time. Any info or leads are appreciated!

Impressed with People from Illinois Chicago to Springfield at the State Fair
Wow, I never been treated with friendliness and respect like I did in downtown Chicago and at the state fair. Everyone at the fair from people working there to the fairgoers. I only went for a few hours and loved it! In 2026 it hard to find an any place where people as whole are nice! A little secret being from Michigan, I pick the people from this state over Michiganders any day, since most people in Michigan are very uptight compared to its surrounding neighbor in terms of being more laid back! I even talk to many people who didn't share my own views! I also apologize to those people at the fair that saw me and were curious I didn't get to speak to but saw me! I may not look friendly, but I am! One of my favorite states! Sorry I forgot to take a picture at the fair yesterday this one was in Chicago. One of my favorite states! But Illinois you impressed me!

New Organization Forming
facebook.comOPTIMISM • CONNECTION • PRIDE
Hey Greater Peoria!
Do you ever feel discouraged by a lot of what you read in social media and news about Peoria?
Us too.
But what if you could make a ripple in the norm and take 1 small action to make Greater Peoria a more positive place?
We'd like to take a moment to introduce ourselves.
Peoria Positive is a community organization that exists to celebrate the people, businesses, and organizations making a difference in the Greater Peoria area by highlighting the good happening at home every day.
Will you be a part of bettering your community?
https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61592464850854
Send in your fundraisers, your events, your art, the good interaction you had with the cashier at the gas station or the guy at the taco stand. Send us acts of kindness you receive and witness. If it's positive and it's within 30 miles of Peoria, we would love to hear about it!
We look forward to meeting soon!

State fair
Will I need cash for parking, rides, or games at state fair? I am sure most if not all food vendors accept card but was curious what the situation was for parking, rides and games.
Thanks in advance!
