Discussion Chaos zero nightmare climbs back to the top 50
In case anyone is curious on the game's current position in the monthly gacha battle

u/Kohei_Latte 7h ago
Cn is 275k (down 80% from last month), global is 3m (up 150%). Can say the bridge has burnt down for cn. Hopefully dev will just focus more on global side and not try to lick over the big fish.
39
u/doca343 7h ago
global can give 100% of the revenue of the game, korean company will still decide to cattle to the Asia market instead.

u/Atzumo 7h ago
Global can only give you so much cash, they aren't big spenders. The fastest way for a far east asian gacha to die is to try to cater to the west. They are better off trying to gamble gaining back the CN market because thats were money is. Though I don't think it'll happen, CN players aren't like westerners, they don't like getting fucked over and they don't forget.

3 mil per month is not enough money for a game to survive?

Definitely makes more than enough for a 2d chibi game.
And what's the point if game is top 10 revenue. People act as if they are investors who get paid dividends lol. I care about a well made game that's player friendly instead of games that try to sell e2 merchants for higher revenue every month.

Good job Arabella.

u/SaltyTemperature6565 7h ago
Well, it's bad work...for a limited character, it's very bad...

u/ElectricalStruggle 6h ago
Enfield is doing 6m with x100 the budget.
CZN is a niche chibi game at the end of the day.
-4
u/SaltyTemperature6565 4h ago
It's true, the game will be alive for a long time. But I think living with an income of 11 million is more pleasant than with an income of 3 million (on a limited character).

Shes not though? She quite literally did not get any special treatment like the other two limiteds.

I think CN is market is done for now let see whats devs gonna do to pull them back
23
u/UserLesser2004 7h ago
Fuck CN. How much more freebies do you need.
44
u/Cool-Fan-1950 7h ago
Its not freebies.
They get insanely angry when they can't free mode a game anymore.
You remove something blantaly op and they cry. Like when slay the spire 2 got rid of infinite. All the negative reviews are from China only
25
u/ExcitingScheme4273 7h ago
If CN was around when Tressa and Cassius got nerfed ohhhhhhh boyyyyy the gravitas would be wayyyyyy worse.

u/Kreatone1 21m ago
Issue is CN is the backbone of gachas. Global's fickle as fuck. Lose CN and your game may not last long, which is the danger here.

I paid $9 for a bikini. I invested in Arabella. I'd like to think that meant something. I'd like to think that meant something.

Man i don't know how can they recover the cn market seems that those last decisions about nerfing things made cn lose trust in devs decision making.. damn i hope the anni will be helpfull to gain cn market trust again because things ain't looking good down there..

Imho I'm surprised Arabella sold this much. For me she doesn't looks like a limited and not unique enough as a limited. What I mean is a limited unit should work around an archetype, like Sereniel is for break and HDMI is fro discard while Arabella is just for Fracture instead of DEBUFF/DOT as a whole.
31
u/Flimsy-Award-8197 6h ago
you think revenue is based on character's kit??? LOLOLOL
-3
u/Math_31416 5h ago
I mean yes? At least partially. I think the biggest factor is her being limited and her kit not sucking doesn't hurt nor boost her sales. If you compare her with HDMI or Sereniel she did sell quite a bit less though.
1
u/MrInanis 4h ago
Rolled for her 2 dupes.. Didn't know what class or element she was... And now I'm finding out she is limited?... I saw a cute character and rolled for her.. That's it.
Ps.. What is fracture? Did they add a new element?

Sg is a good dev that buffs their units , so I'm not too worried. It's either that or olga is going to be a very good buff unit that makes arabella deal dmg on par with heide or higher
4
u/Hot_Physics_8124 5h ago
What the data shows is there's an interest for more fanservice. That's it. She's all mid imo, but she does push the degree of goon in the game.

u/Rakanji9 5h ago
sold this much, the revenue increase didnt even reach 600k for a LIMITED UNIT btw

I love this game, but have no desire to pay a dime for some reason. Funny because I sank a small fortune into Final Fantasy Opera Omnia when it was on.

u/KingofSilver99LP 4h ago
I love this game, but ironically I spend way less than I have on other gachas. Puzzle and Dragons for example, which is a VERY generous gacha, it was just so easy to drop $100 because it gave you a ton of rolls. I wish CZN had a google points credit incentive like PAD has, I would use all my points here. But between no Google point credit incentive, and the fact that rolls are just so dang expensive here, I have only spent on the monthly battlepass.
I feel like it would be a scummy move, but honestly if they lowered the price of rolls, but also dropped the pull rate of 5stars, many like myself would be more inclined to purchase pulls. Not saying they should, I just feel that a model like that would have brought in more money for them. People just want to gamble, don't they? Just the thrill of rolling.

expected more for a limited atleast 5mil, did way less than Heide and Sereniel, especially being as nsfw Arabella is, thought this is what the target audience wanted
24
u/Dizzy_Market_336 Instinct 7h ago
CN was apparently heavily censored and the cn players dont f with it, thats why cn is down round 80%, which is bad considering its the biggest market

u/Secure_Somewhere3139 7h ago

Someone else already response but this is mainly for the CN side, these are the consequences of not communicating properly with your community it also doesn't help that Arabella is probably the weakest limited, her design and the anniv is coming. See how the devs forget about her existence when the season finish just to release a new buff that says "reduce dot DMG -80%" or something like that.
-3
u/pluggynaruk 6h ago
This is what happens when you overemphasize waifu characters instead of the lore and worldbuilding. I can't help wondering if the story, character designs, and even the revenue would've turned out better if the devs had just ignored that stupid Owen drama over a fucking "👌" gesture.
Right now, the lore feels kinda flat to me, while the character designs keep leaning harder and harder into male gooner bait. And sadly, CN censorship makes that even more complicated. When the lore isn't strong enough to make a character stand out, what else is left for players to pull for? Powercreep. And then there's Arabella... honestly, her outfit looks like some cheap BDSM costume I accidentally ordered from Temu.
So I wouldn't be surprised if CN players increasingly prioritize meta/powercreep characters over characters carried by meaningful lore or strong character writing. And honestly, I can't really blame Chinese players for that. If the game isn't giving them compelling lore or characters to get attached to, why should they pull?
That's a pretty unfortunate direction for a game that originally had such an interesting identity.

u/-Regulus_ 6h ago edited 6h ago
The lore exists to make different factions of girls that follow a trope
CN got accelerated schedule + the drama around the announcement of season 3 nerfs when they were in season 3
Alot were upset with Orlea Nerfs
3
u/pluggynaruk 5h ago
I think that's exactly the problem I'm talking about, though. If the lore mainly exists to create different factions of girls that follow specific tropes, then the lore becomes more of a framework for selling characters rather than something that makes the world and characters genuinely compelling. Just look at Limbus Company. Personally, I find its gameplay kinda clunky and laggy sometimes, yet somehow the game has managed to survive and maintain its audience without constantly releasing gooner female characters. It also has plenty of male characters who are just as important to the story and fanbase. That's why I think strong writing and worldbuilding can carry a game much further than simply making every new character more attractive or appealing to one demographic. If the character itself is compelling because of its story, personality, and role in the world, people have a reason to care about them regardless of gender or how fanservice-heavy their design is.
CZN originally felt like it had that potential. That's what made its current direction feel so disappointing to me.
-1
u/-Regulus_ 5h ago
Limbus, R1999, Arknights, Genshin, Honkai, FGO, Granblue offer world and stories that make their playerbase hooked and loyal.
Sadly CZN doesnt have that, maybe they could have had that but even before the main story revamp just how the seasons' stories play out just showed the direction is going for.
I got baited by the ads, by the beta test, by the leaks of all the cool characters that look appropriate and actually well designed, but this is what we get, introduce female character, sad backstory(optional), gets help from shikicum, parasocial bait, repeat, ontop of how bad they all look and inappropriate they dress in context with the world. With a few exceptions (Tenebria, Heidemarie,Adhd,Diana(?))

Rico (the dragon girl NPC from Season 2) might've been the starkest example. All those gachas can excel at making NPCs who feel like living aspects of the worldbuilding and story, with memorable character arcs, and oftentimes make fans wish they'll be playable units one day.
CZN could've don't something cool with her. After how involved she was in chapter 1 with getting captured with MC and friends in the colosseum, she could've been a standout element across the s2 story with her dreams of reviving her civilization. But instead each chapter focused on girl-of-current-banner and Rico got kicked to the curb.
I still enjoy CZN but their storytelling has a ceiling. It is what it is.

Yeah you're getting downvoted because the only people left on this sub are the gooners, everyone else moved on and the gooners are in denial that leaning harder into the oversexualization has harmed the game's popularity despite the massive drop in both revenue and online engagement. It's funny that despite constantly being told 'but all the games designs are already pure gooner' the number one most anticipated character from release has always been Luche which is by far the least oversexualized character in the game. But I'm fairly certain the art designer that made her and the Battle Pass partner art is no longer working on the game; the creativity and nuance is just gone from all the newer characters art.
The other mistake they made was catering to casuals. The second they revealed how save data worked publicly it represented a clear signal they were going to make the game easier and easier over time. It's a classic example of the perils in listening to the most vocal online people and trying to design games around random feedback despite people already enjoying and playing your game like crazy.

so as expect not that a large sum increase at all. Quite funny for a limited unit but it was to expected with Anniversary coming

u/KataMaster 3h ago
That's what happens when they focus on their target audience and release uncensored characters. I quit spending on this game after Tiphera, and I'm back to spending now after Season 4.
5
u/tauros113 Void 2h ago
I don't think a "target audience" that boycotts the game for 4 months off a sticker is a good crowd to pander to lmao
-2
u/KataMaster 1h ago
Every games a target audience and if the devs fucked up they get punished, it's that simple ;)
-23
u/Bad_Doto_Playa 7h ago
Nice, target audience shows up yet again. Hopefully the male wanting gooners move along and go back to LADS or Genshin or whatever.
15
u/Rhodri_Suojelija 5h ago
Ill never get over how people actively want others to be less interested in their game.
-13
u/Bad_Doto_Playa 5h ago
Because I want the game to stay made for me. I like what here's right now and I don't want them to switch up to attract people who don't like what I do.

Honestly, it is higher than i expected it to be. I doubt many would look at this game for many reasons. cant help but be distracted at sword and staff is that high up, I tried it for a few days and thought it was boring, only did it for the konosuba cross-over. Suprised and a bit happy umamusume is going strong.

u/Takaneru 3h ago
I mean Clash of Critters is doing half of it too. These mobile games honestly just really earn a lot more than we expect. No doubt its overhead cost is like x3 less than CZN's (well, but their marketing must be x10 cost). Heck, Battle Cats is doing x2 of CZN and it's 13 years old lol

I don't think you have any idea how good it is for a game like CZN to be in the top 50; after all, they could get by with significantly less revenue.
