New to the AI scene and learning what works and what does not.
1. In order to get reliable feedback and help with questions, is a personal account required?
2. If I create an account, will my chats be saved for future reference?
3. Does the whole ChatGPT learn from my questions/prompts, or does the info live in my individual account?

you dont need an account to use it but without one nothing saves and you lose context between sessions. with a free account your chats are saved and you can toggle whether they're used for training in the settings

3. They will use your data to train their models even if you don’t have an account. I think you are able to opt out but there’s some conjecture on whether it affects the output or not.

Personal account: Absolutely required just to use ChatGPT and most AI.

Continuity (AKA "future reference"): Yes! Chats and continuity are inherent to the majority of AI platforms. ChatGPT has a verbose memory and is very slowly rolling out a local memory option for the desktop app. Slowly is the operative word. Currently, enabling the option activates the back-end feature and starts the memory collection and continuity building. The front-end activation and presence of the data collected is still waiting to be active for users.

ChatGPT learns broadly from all user interactions unless you don't want OpenAI to do so. There is a setting to turn that off in the app and online on the website chatgpt.com

I can only speak on ChatGPT really... It's the only one I like to use. I've used it for three years straight. I pay $20 per month and have done so for three years near consistently save for a period of three months when I couldn't. $20 buys the Plus sub. The difference between free and Plus is IMMENSE. Like night and day. I can't even describe here the full value proposition. Use free for a while and watch it work, test the boundaries and weak memory. Then if you feel you want a stronger memory, upgrade to Plus. It's like watching a toddler not remember the fact that you told it not to walk across the street to watching an adult remember your whole life story and be able to read an entire autobiography about you if you upload it every new chat. Unbelievable really if you're just reading about it.

This is really awesome, definitely whole picture summary. Since I’m new, I’d probably stick with the free version now. Then decide about paid later if I really need better memory. I think the term that best describes what I’m going to it for is “polishing”
