Technology “Bean Bag” AI app 🤯

I recently got a Chinese phone and it was preloaded with 豆包 and it’s a such a game changer for me since I don’t read or write Chinese

I’ve been using the call/talk function to help me navigate Chinese apps, menus and even communicate with locals as a real time translator. I love that it can verbally quickly transition between Chinese and English all while using the camera function live.

Have you guys used it as well? Are there other useful tools that are helpful for ex pats?

I haven’t used those translation functions in wechat outside of chatting or to some degree mini apps

Would definitely prefer to use one phone instead of fumbling around messing with 2 phones as I’m accustomed to my iPhone and generally used the other for tethering

does your Doubao app always asking you to pay for subscription? I tried to use on my iphone, it was constant pop-up for subscription, so I use Kimi or deepseek, mostly deepseek now, kimi's server has some traffic problem often. Deepseek can might be the best alternative, depends on your use case.

I used to use deepseek on my iPhone but UX wasn’t great as I’d have to take a pic upload and then type/ask about/reference the pic

I haven’t tried downloading bean bag on my iPhone but it was pre-installed on a cheap Chinese honor phone so I was trying it out… It doesn’t have any pop ups anything asking me to pay for subscription (or at least not yet, if I’m on some free trial)

interesting...

on the DS app, there is "instant", "Expert", "Vision", not sure if that does anything for you,

just downloaded Doubao app again and there seems to be a lot more features that has some openClaw functions if you tap the top left menu button, like cron jobs, skills, ai creation. probably more useful on an Android phone.

Is there different vision functionality on what id assume to be the China version of deepseek? Cuz my DS vision is not too different then just having the camera take a pic that i can then ask questions about or to translate

i dont know about different versions, i signed in with chinese phone number, taking a photo of chinese text, the app tell me what text mean in English.

Tried downloading bean bag app in the Apple AppStore but got the message it’s not available in my regions…

I’ve never changed regions for AppStores before… any impacts or nuances I should be aware when doing so to download apps?
