I've started chipping away at the Discworld series and with one chapter I immediately understood why people are so enamoured with it. I think the word I want to use to describe it is authentic; its fresh, it understands what it wants to be and what it's contemporaries are, it knows the tropes and appreciates their role in the storytelling process.

Love the pod and even subscribed on Patreon to get ad-free episodes and video versions. Though, one thing I'm slightly disappointed with is the video version doesn't include any of the images or videos being discussed. It still relies on the viewer checking the show notes for context.

I know it'd add extra editing, but I think most people wouldn't mind if the video episodes took a few days extra to release if they included the media in the corner for visual context. It'd certainly make video versions far more appealing and worth the extra dosh. As of right now the video versions don't add much over the audio only versions.

In the intro section of the podcast before the interview they discuss Alistair Crowley and some of the "rituals" he performed at a house in Pasadena.

A few months ago, you were talking about going down a rabbit hole about Moore's Providence. I find myself short on time to follow you into this world of madness, but I am incredibly interested in it. Do you (or whoever may be reading this) know of any video/audio essays on the subject? I'd love to listen to something about it whilst driving or counting sheep.

So far I've got: Take a shot every time Mathas says 'consciousness', and that's literally it.

So I was listening to the story, and I remembered the time when TV remotes were new. Now DISCLAIMER! I don't know how modern IR signaling is handled, nor am I familiar with Vizio.

Back when TVs with remote control were new in Europe, they were a big deal. Kid me was told you have to aim at the TV or else it won't work. Well, that was not entirely true. The signal can bounce around the room. I remember aiming the remote at every possible wall, window, and surface and it would usually, but not always, work just fine. Well, later on our neighbors got the same brand TV.

For setting up the scene, imagine the living room in the apartment was a square. Our neighbors' apartment was a mirrored version of ours with the only shared wall being the living room wall. So their East living room wall was our West living room wall. Our TV was set up against the East wall, and so was theirs. The South wall was where the windows and balconies would be.

Why does any of that matter? Well simple. Sometimes, though very rarely, when the conditions were just right, if they turned on their TV, ours would too, or turn off if it was already on. We ended up figuring out that if they had their remote angled toward the windows, the signal MAY get reflected JUST right and affect our TV. Much further into the future, I've had IR devices, such as remote lights, that would behave differently depending on which remote was used. For example, when I press the ON/OFF button for one light, another would change color because one device's ON/OFF signal is the color change signal in another.

So this is my plausible explanation for what's happening with that person's TVs.

I was at the live show in Chicago and got to do the 30 second ghost hunt with Jesse and Mathas. Mathas took selfies as proof of the hunt and was hoping I could get copies of them to show my brother who was supposed to but was unable to attend. I forgot to ask after the show. Hoping one of the guys sees this post or if someone knows a good way to reach them without being creepy.

We attended the live show at Lincoln hall last night. During the show, they hosted a live ghost hunt where they went to investigate the alley across the street Alas the ghost of John Dillinger did not grace them during their extremely thorough investigation. We went to visit the haunted alley after the show, and actually ran into an employee from the restaurant next to the alley who shared with us her own experiences with the ghost. Apparently she directly saw a book from the server station fly off a shelf in the restaurant, and they’ve also had a vase fly off a table and break at 4am.

I loved the live show and hope you guys make it back next year!
