For common words yeah, for more rare words definitely harder. Also after realizing this is 千字文make it slightly easier cuz I read it before.

I can read English upside down, it's just a bit slower. It's similar here. With characters I know well, I can recognize them.

This reminds me of a concept for a story that included people writing in up-side down Chinese characters to mean the opposite of what the character would normally mean. So you would have a regular sentence with an inverted character or two, which would look to censors like a sloppy mistake but in reality completely changes the message.

Never ended up doing much with it sadly...

yes, just fine. I almost thought I couldn't for a second though lol. I don't know what I would have been expecting to be written in a question like this but its not that, had to completely switch up my brain gears. Even then with the formatting it took me a second to realize what I was even looking at haha.
