Hello everyone!

My name is Saku and i have hit challenger as a Cho'Gath otp [EUW] pretty much every season/split ever since 2022. I've been working on something pretty special.. (outside of playing SoloQ)

With all the knowledge i have collected by streaming, talking and playing Cho'Gath almost every single day ever since i started maining him in late 2021, i decided to give some of that away towards you guys.

I'm pretty sure everyone knows Makkro's Ornn Bible. I thought i could re-create it but with Cho'Gath of course.

I am now standing here today, to present the official "Cho'Gath Feastament" to all of you beautiful people.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1rjemIMHpGlcwcsmRWbo2zuAdVJeYXZ7C6Y7PdDRQZoo/edit?usp=sharing

This sheet will be updated with every patch and i will always try to add more and more things! This is basically just Version 1.0 rn <3

Thanks to everyone that helped me with this, this took a good amount of work and time ngl.

As this is the first version of this sheet (basically the beta early access playtest :D), feel free to tell me whenever you see anything wrong with it, for that, feel free to add me on Discord (Sakuritou) or tell me in my stream about it <3

Love you all,

Sakuritou

Cho'Gath Jungle in LCK - PO R1 DK vs KT Game 3

I'm very curious what you all think about Cuzz's Cho'Gath jungle performance in KT's recent match against DK.

He built Protoplasm Harness -> Steelcaps -> Kaenic Rookern -> Randuins. He ended the game with fewer than 10 stacks and had a few wasted ults/missed ults on objectives that could have been stacks. He played HOB/Inspiration. Definitely not the best pro Cho'Gath performance I've ever seen, but it was Cho's first time in the LCK in the jungle role in nearly 10 years. Pretty exciting to see! Hopefully it means some more attention to his role in the jungle may be coming.

Finally understanding the power of Heartsteel on Cho'gath.

I previously made a post about not figuring out if I liked Heartsteel: https://www.reddit.com/r/ChoGathMains/s/v1RjXxs2uI

For the 9 months, I went back to just rushing Deadman's or Kaenic Rookern. Currently chasing after Diamond 4. The utility of Deadman's or the AP laner's inability to kill me when I had Kaenic Rookern was so good to me. Just recently started testing out Heartsteel again. Delaying your power spike allows you to stay relevant in the mid to late game instead of being a typical CC bot that does no damage. I know it's a "duh" moment, but I felt that games ended before you even build your third item so I would rather rush resistances than build HP. I realized that this actually means the opposite. The benefits of getting 1-2 kills during the laning phase fails to compare to the stacks you get from Heartsteel. The surprising thing is that I feel even tankier when I rush Heartsteel and Warmogs because you're not wasting gold on armor or MR when the jungler or the mid laner demands the opposite resistance.

I've been spamming Heartsteel, Swiftboots, and then Warmogs. You're really tanky by then and the high HP means you do quite a bit of damage to squishies as well. The synergy makes them necessities to me. I then change my build from there, but I feel Jak'sho is the most efficient item unless a person is fed and has a high crit rate (forcing me to build Randuins). Sometimes, I build Force of Nature if the opponent builds Liandry's. If no Liandry's, Abyssal Mask gives you MR and boosts your damage.

2528 Heartsteel stacks, 14.5k HP and 341k mitigated damage. Peak ARAM Cho'Gath performance.

I didn't even play this match to hunt for any records, but things got out of hand.

Big shoutout to everyone in that lobby. 38-minute ARAM games are rare, and both teams fought like crazy until the very end. Mad respect, GG WP!

Sitting on Scouts slingshot

So Chogath actually really likes a little bit of attack speed. I remember a while ago I Was cooking on a scouts slingshot build for the attack speed where I would sell it later. I’m looking to experiment with it a bit more and wanted to share this with you guys. It’s Especially strong in melee matchups where I max E

Question How to play tank cho?

Cho'gath is one of my favorite champions based on the idea of being a baby alien that eats and grows big, but sadly I feel like the character is just completely useless whenever I play him.

Playing tank has been difficult for me in most of my games. The main reason for this is that cho'gath literally doesn't have a single ability that incentivizes tanking beyond gaining hp from ult stacks, that's it. I honestly am not sure why this character is even being played as a tank. Sion get nearly the same bonus hp from his W passive, along with a giant shield. K'sante gets scaling with armor and MR and has mobility and a shield. Etc etc. Every other tank has some ability that helps them be tankier, whether it is Mundo R and W, Sion W, K'santes... everything. But cho'gath just has some hp gain from stacks. Stacks that aren't particularly easy to get when your super slow and immobile and your CC is all close-range and very easy for decent players to dodge. Your passive is also completely useless beyond the first 10 mins of the game. The only ability in your kit that even scales with hp is the ult. Everything you have scales with AP.

Laning also feels really bad. You aren't particularly tanky to begin with, your damage is low, mana costs are high, and the CC is super easy to dodge. It feels like >70% of the top matchups just dumpster you in lane or outscale you. You never feel like your scaling like mundo, or dominating the lane like a k'sante. You can max Q and farm from a distance, but you don't scale nearly as well as someone like mundo who can do the same thing. You can try maxxing E, but most top laners will win every trade in melee. I tried the HOB E max build and I think its genuinely terrible and I don't understand how anyone is having success with it. Grasp sounds nice but most top laners will dumpster you if you get close. I find that I have most success with arcane comet and maxxing Q, in all lanes and positions.

I tried AP cho'gath and that felt a lot better. I was going ludens first, so the lost chapter solves the mana problems and lets you run arcane comet and max Q. That feels nice but its mostly a mid-oriented build and its not really a tank. Your basically playing a close-range mage. Seeing someone lose half their hp from 1 Q is fun at first, until you realize you could just be playing any other normal dedicated mage, and do the same damage with an ability that isn't delayed and requires you to enter melee range.

I tried a lot of builds. I tried doing tear, ROA, into fimbul. I tried doing heartsteel and warmogs. I tried the riftmaker and rocketbelt. I tried just building pure tank and going UD or HR first item. None of them feel very good. If you rush straight tank, you do no damage and you have mana issues. If you got rocketbelt and riftmaker into tank items later, you still have mana issues and you are not tanky at all. ROA build... ROA just sucks imo. The best league champs are ones that get good power spikes in 1-2 items. Champions that take 3+ items to come online or scale are coincidentally the champs always doing the worst in the meta. The game is too fast-paced now for these kinds of characters. This made the ROA and fimbul build sound good in theory but it takes too long.

Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to be thorough in what my experiences have been. I am not sure if maybe I am just undervaluing the HP gain from the ult, but tank cho seems terrible to me. Then you try AP cho and you are just a crappy version of a mage. The question really is, why play cho'gath tank when you could be playing sion, ornn, mundo, k'sante; they all do his job better. And why play cho'gath AP when you could be playing any other mage; they all do his job better.

Cho'Gath PBE Changes (Jungle)

EDIT: I MISSREAD THE FIGURES / WIKI DESCRIPTION, THE JUNGLE MODIFIERS ARE NOT CHANGING

(First image is a screenshot taken from PBE directly, second is the live Wiki description)

Cho'Gath is getting its bonus magic damage to monsters reduced alongside the increase to its base damage per rank in the ability, listed below.

120 ->110 / 190 -> 160 / 260 -> 210 / 330 -> 260 / 400 -> 310

Was excited to try the buffs on PBE to see how his clear felt after +30 base magic damage but this is not what I expected OR wanted to find. Kind of sucks when most of the damage mid-late game from E is the %max HP damage that doesn't even affect monsters, this is just a direct nerf to his clear speed and likely its jungle winrate on the whole.

Upcoming Cho Gath Buff: Place your bets!

Hi guys
With an Asol buff being announced to land in the next patch, I thought it could be interesting to have a discussion on what you think those buffs will be.
Let's split your answers into two parts:
1. What you think the buff will be
2. What you hope the buff will be

I honestly don't know what to expect, but here are my bets:

1: Mana reductions on Q and potentially W. Perhaps a small flat damage increase.

2: I hope we get a buff to Cho's passive. I'd love for his sustain in lane to become even better than it already is, so that we can trade health more liberally.

What are you guesses and hopes?

Cho’Gath R Flavor + Gameplay Ideas

I’ve always thought it would be neat if when you ate a large void monster you got some sort of buff or permanant stat, it doesn’t need to be huge but just something “flavorful” not unlike how Bel’Veth gets her perfect form when killing a void monster.
Especially combined with how they’ve given Cho jungle scalings and has always been an off-meta pick (love him as a JG in Classic).
Even something small like 10 AH or % Attack Speed if you ate a Grub, flat or % scaling resists / extra bonus HP if you ate Rift Herald, and something like adaptive / extra flat true damage on R for eating Nashor (this one could be problematic since you could potentially get multiple of them).
Maybe even give him a quest if he’s picked jungle role with Bel’Veth to see who can eat the most to make it easier to balance game-in and game-out.

Good old Iceborn + Zephyr Bruiser'Gath

Back in the day, Iceborn + Zephyr Cho'Gath was a menace, as it erradiacted all of Cho's weaknesses and gave the enemy the tough decision of either stepping into Rupture or Cho getting close with a giant Iceborn field. Back then, nothing of Cho'Gath scaled with health, so the 900 health you get from 6 R stacks were enough to combo with pure resistance items to become extremely tanky. Meanwhile, the old Force of Nature also fitted this extremely well and gave even more MS. And since Zephyr gives Tenacity, Boots of Swiftness are free to get. You are running around as fast as Rammus while being super tanky and nothing can CC you. And you hit hard and fast.

For the ultra lategame, you can turn that Madred's Razors into Madred's Bloodrazor and tear everything apart. As for Thornmail, you can replace that with stuff like Guardian Angel or even Wit's End depending on the situation. Or Runic Bulwark can also be nice.

Hi, I need some help with improving

I came here a while ago and didn’t really know what to ask at the time because I was stuck in Iron. Just by reading a few posts, I managed to learn how to play Cho’Gath and climbed all the way to Gold, but I haven’t been able to consistently stay in Gold.

Now I feel like I have a decent foundation, and before asking my questions, I wanted to tell you a little bit about myself. I play Cho’Gath in every role (thanks to the new meta, even ADC), but I’d like to master him in Top and Mid, since those are the roles I perform best in.

What I’d really like to know now is when I should and shouldn’t pick Cho’Gath, and which champions would be good alternatives when Cho’Gath isn’t a good option, along with why I should pick them in those situations. I’d also like to know which two other champions I should learn for Top and Mid in case Cho’Gath gets banned. Usually, if the enemy picks Cho’Gath, I pick Sylas, and it’s basically free elo for me.

I’d also like to know which champions I should ban in each role. That’s all, thanks in advance! And if I take a while to reply, it’s because I don’t use Reddit very often.
