Heylo, I'm 26F. I have visharad in kathak and started when I was 6 year old. I have been out of touch and tbh I never got the "confidence" to perform it for someone. I wasn't exposed enough for solo apart from just group dance, which were easier for me. It feels like a waste of those years. what should I do to be connected again? I cannot join offline classes as I'm doing PhD in a tier 3 city, tight with travelling. Should I join online classes? and of whom? from what year to join again? I want to explore kathak with more experienced, established and nationally/internationally exposed teachers... my kathak didi could not get me confidence and knowledge in 6-7 years, I'm afraid it may happen again if I don't choose right teacher for me.

Where can I find a Classic Hindi /bollywood dance class in Riyadh ?

Are there any Bollywood dance classes or sessions in and around coventry for beginners?

I live in Noida sector 61. Can anyone suggest a good indian classical dance classes that I can attend on weekends. I want to continue my hobbies with my job, anyone has idea, please share!!

I am not sure if this is the right forum but I am looking to learn bharatnatyam. Any contacts for bharatnatyam classes for adults which have been tried and tested.

Nava Dance Theatre from San Francisco presents excerpts from Rogue Gestures/Foreign Bodies. A dance theater and live music production that celebrates the labor and lived experiences of immigrant women in the United States.

Created by choreographer Nadhi Thekkek, with music direction by Roopa Mahadevan, Kalaisan Kalaichelvan. The work weaves Bharatanatyam, dance theater, and original raga-based music to show that we are stronger together. Inclusive of the nuances, contradictions, and memories in our bodies.

Initially inspired by oral histories of Malayali community aunties who arrived to work as nurses after the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act, Rogue Gestures celebrates the bread-winning, culture-bearing, determined generosity of our femme elders, insisting that the only way forward is together.

I have like a few years of experience in both Kathak and Bharatnatyam .However , it has been almost 10 years since I have officially received any training .I have been thinking since years to restart my journey and have finally made up my mind.

I start my internship from this month and will be free during my mornings and weekends.

1) What should I pursue for now like given the constraint above?

2) I do have an offline class available nearby. I might have some urgent works pop up , so online will always be more accessible I feel like, but there will be no in-person mentoring though(/). What would be better ?

3) Some online courses or classes that I can pursue as I saw too many and most felt very expensive for me T-T like 2000 for 2 hours and so on .Can someone break it down and help me ?

4) What courses should I take in what order like names or levels like level 1 etc etc .

Anybody knows about any bharatanatyam groups/communities in London? Where dancers can meet and practise?

Hi all! I'm a Kathak student who wants to challenge herself by choreographing her own piece to music that she chooses on her own. Do you all have any recommendations for Indian classical music that can be good for dancing Kathak to? Any pieces that are close to your heart that you think choreography can be set to? Such as old taranas by pandits, newer fusion pieces with Indian classical instruments, or sitar instrumentals? Any Indian classical music that's not Kathak-specific works too. I am trying to stick to classical roots and do not want to work with anything Bollywood, so I'm looking for some inspiration. Thanks much!
