I had rotting food and more trash, but cleaned it up a few days before the before picture.

hi! my bedroom served as a home for two cats for a few months and now that it’s free, I’m trying to clean it to use it again. the room had a portable air conditioner running for most of the time.

i cleaned the floors and walls with an enzyme cleaner, there’s no carpet, and all bedding/curtains has been removed. i vacuumed twice (floors and mattresses) and have an air purifier running. mattresses covers have been washed as well.

however, there’s smell is not going down at all. it seems to be getting worse 😭

is there something else I can do to help with making it clean again? also, i’m trying to not throw my mattresses away but the smell is not going down 😭 (not even sure if the smell is coming from there)

I’m looking to clean my furniture and I want to use a steam cleaner. I’m also trying to find something that doesn’t use bristles. Do you have any recommendations for steam cleaners that work well and reliable?

I bought these second hand curtains, not too sure how to launder them so I did a small hand wash test. The water was yellow/orange tinted but that can’t be dye, can it? The fabric doesn’t that color at all. I don’t know what type of fabric it is. It took a good 3 rinsed for the water to run clear, and you can see a bit of the line it left on the fabric at the edge of wetness.

I think it’ll all come out but I’m curious what the color is and if you think hand washing and line drying these is ok. Thank you.

Im not sure what the material is, it looks like plastic but its a bit squishy? How would i go about removing these scuff and paint marks

I always hear of people cleaning their houses and stuff in the spring. Now i get why for the outdoors since the snow melts and you need to get everything ready for the summer, but why the indoors? I feel like the best time would be in winter when you have less activities to do and your stuck in your house anyways, no? Is there a reason why people recommend cleaning in spring over winter?

We all learn as we go, and don’t know what we don’t know til we are taught. What’s something you never used to clean, that now you do all the time? For example, I didn’t know about the dishwasher filter. Now I do it every couple days, and can’t believe I wasn’t before. Also bathroom sink drains! It’s not normal for the draining to slow down, you gotta clean that sucker!

Honestly my closet's been full for a while now, and today was the day I finally tried to declutter it. But everything just felt too good to throw away, like it'd be a shame to let it go.

Is it because I am lazy? Anyone else feel the same way when they try this? How do you actually manage it?

So we have sold our house and in the process of exchanging. My wonderful son managed to get his hands on a pink pen and had coloured in the bathroom floor! It’s vinyl and slightly textured, I have tried a lot of combinations and attached a photo of what I have tried thus far, the photos you’re seeing are after an hour of scrubbing. Any recommendations??

I have also now got 99.9% rubbing alcohol and magic erasers on order. This happened around an hour ago though!

Is there an app (for Android) where not only will it tell me what to clean, but HOW to do it, and what supplies I need?

I get really overwhelmed thinking about how to actually do the thing because I literally don't know how to do it. Eg, I KNOW I'm supposed to clean the windows, but I don't know what I need to do in order to clean them, or what I actually need (eg is glass cleaner enough, or so I actually need to use a mould cleaner?)

In other words, I need to learn how to adult.

My husband and I use separate bathrooms because we get ready for work at the same time and they are both small. However, he never thinks about cleaning the one he uses (ADHD).

The usual grime is easy to take care of overall, but what are some products to help remove the hard water stains found throughout? I included pictures and they are areas I cleaned about 15 minutes ago….

The materials are plastic, tempered glass, and porcelain.

If it isn’t hard water in anyone’s opinion what am I looking at and how do I remediate it??

What cleaner does everyone like for hardwood floors? I am getting ready to move into a house that has hardwood floors throughout entire house. I figured sweep and then mop with a microfiber mop with cleaner, but not sure which cleaner is best. Thanks.

Recently had guests stay with us- sat on our linen couch straight from the airport. I’m anxious about bacteria on the couch- is it possible to clean without steaming? It’s linen so anything water based isn’t ideal. Newborn baby and we hang on the couch a lot and spiraling a bit- TIA!

My Hoover carpet cleaner dirty water tank is discoloured at the bottom. How can I clean this to get it back clear? I have tried vinegar soak for a couple hours and also a hair developer and put in the sun for a couple hours with no change.

People on here said a steamer is a neat lil handy tool for cleaning, especially since I do auto detailing. But the dirt devil is the best deal where I am, worth 40$ cad, and since ill only be using this a few times a year max was wondering if this was a good brand? Or realistically I can go even cheaper since I wont be using it too often and get some no name chinese one?

Detailed miniatures are awkward to organize because the features that make them nice to look at are also the features that collect dust in places a normal cloth cannot reach. Leaving everything completely open gives the best view, but it also means tiny shelves, plants, signs, and furniture eventually need careful cleaning. Fully enclosing every piece solves more of the dust problem but adds visual bulk and takes even more shelf space. The useful middle ground may be deciding which finished pieces deserve permanent display and which should rotate in and out instead of keeping every project exposed at once. That turns dust management into a display system rather than a cleaning-product problem. For people who collect detailed models, what display setup has actually kept maintenance reasonable without hiding the details?

So im a detailer on the side and im seeing alot of detailers talking about getting steamers for hard to clean gum spots and stuff. But I dont want to buy something I only use like once in a blue moon for 70$.

How useful then is steamers for around the house cleaning too? Is it just a kinda nice to have or it can really help?

So I am a student and live in a hostel. Between sem breaks, the mattresses we have are kept in the store room. Our sem break ended a few weeks ago. Now it is the peak of rainy season, The place where i live is so humid and rainy that a wet cloth, left completely sprawled out with a fan that runs 24/7 caught fungus in 2 days before drying. Lately my mattress has begun to give a fainty smell. How do i clean it before it gets worse? Large electronics and alcohol are not allowed inside campus so the options that most people say online about using baking soda + vaccum or vodka are completely off the table. What do i do?
P.S: when i say high humidity i mean 85-92%. It also rains for like 7-8 hours a day on some days.

I currently have a swiffer jet mop and a Mr clean roller mop, but the cost of refills is getting ridiculous plus the swiffer mop doesn't do well on the areas my dog likes to lay (she makes drool spots). I am currently using that to do a quick mop after scrubbing on my hands and knees I those areas. I've had the O'cedar spin mop in the past and while I love that the mop heads are washable, I cannot get the dog hair out of it. Eventually it builds up to the point I have to trash it because every swipe just puts more dog hair onto my floor. 😭 Does anyone have a good suggestion for a mop that's good at scrubbing tough areas and also washable?

And before anyone says something like "you shouldn't have pet hair on the ground when you mop. You need to vacuum first" has clearly never owned a Great Pyrenees. I vacuum daily plus run my robo vac 1-2x/ day also. It's just a never ending shedding season with them. Lol

We just move in our apartment at the end of June this year and this thing below the toilet wasn't even in here before. I literally tried everything, scrubbing it hardly with a brush, soap it up with detergent, ans sprayed it with water HARSHLY WHILE BRUSHING IT. I really need help bruhhhh I can't stand this everytime I tried cleaning our bathroom.
