Events Monarch migration
Anyone been to Wendy park lately? The metroparks usually posts when there’s lots of monarchs and I haven’t seen that yet but I missed it last year so I wanted to ask.

There have been plenty of monarchs already the past few weeks, I had 4 today just walking around my neighborhood. I would expect migration to peak in a week or two

Wendy park fills up with monarchs when the weather pattern forces them to stop mid migration. It doesnt happen every year, and it doesn't always happen long enough for someone to take note and post about it.

Usually around when I see them in my yard and I saw my first one yesterday so we are close!

I have seen a couple of them floating south already a couple weeks ago. Bird migrations are picking up too. When I used to sail lake erie you would see them out 20 miles out in the lake. You would see them about now or 2 weeks from now flying south. Single monarchs. You could tell from that that summer was going to end soon. I have already seen them. So early winter is my guess. I also saw a bunch in a valley in Mohican last week too. So yea.. Id keep your eyes peeled because Wendy park absolutely gets them for whatever reason.

It started in the last couple days, at least on the East Side right by the lake. There were easily a dozen monarchs on our butterfly bush last evening, with several others floating around the yard. Still expect it to ramp up further though in the coming days/couple weeks.

Still a couple weeks yet. Last year was around Sep 13-20 or so. There weren’t many last year. The year before was big. Hoping for a lot this year!
