Community An Update from Cloudflare’s Community Champions

Tl;dr: Cloudflare laid off much of their Community team and then unexpectedly disbanded the Community Champions program (Discord moderation and early feedback group), leaving the Cloudflare Discord server effectively unmoderated and without the very folks who gave years of their free time to help the community. We’ve decided to create a new unofficial home for Cloudflare users on Discord, a space run by the community, for the community: https://discord.gg/TrPNVKaagR

During the unexpected recent layoffs at Cloudflare, folks involved in leading community efforts unfortunately lost their jobs. This left us (the Community Champions) in an odd spot where we were looking after Cloudflare's own Discord server while having no direct community contacts at Cloudflare. You may have seen many of us in Discord before - we had the green names!

This week, we then received an unexpected message letting us know that, effective almost immediately, the Community Champions program was being disbanded, and our volunteer assistance in the server (moderating the place 24/7 and providing support to Cloudflare’s users) was no longer needed. No real explanation was given as to why, just that it is happening and that the decision had already been made.

The Community Champions program has operated since very early 2021, and has become a staple in Cloudflare’s developer ecosystem, support offerings, and more. Countless users are sent by Cloudflare’s own support team or via product dashboards to the Discord server every single day, and in the vast majority of cases, support for products was offered by a Community Champion purely out of joy and love for the community and Cloudflare.

This news has resulted in many active folks leaving the server already, both community and employees. Therefore, we’re announcing a new unofficial Orange Cloud Discord server, where folks can engage with the same folks who have always helped them, get support for Cloudflare products, and which will be moderated and run by humans who care. Join the server today: https://discord.gg/TrPNVKaagR

FAQ

We’ll try to keep this updated as common questions arise in the comments on this post.

What will happen with the old “official” server?

At this point, we don’t know, and it doesn’t seem that Cloudflare does either. There are currently discussions around rebooting it later this summer, but in the meantime, we expect it to be quickly overrun with spam, scams, or worse content now that there’s no longer any active and dedicated moderation team, and the few active employees who were providing support have mostly left. This has already started to happen in the couple of days the server has been unmoderated. We’ve also seen those at Cloudflare who now hold moderation powers unfairly removing negative messages about Cloudflare’s products and decisions (as well as the users posting them), including this very change, which leaves us concerned about the future of open discussion and feedback there.

Why should we believe what you’re saying vs. Cloudflare?

Consider that we are a group of friends who have volunteered our free time over the last many years to help the community, and that Cloudflare is a publicly traded corporation with an image and bottom line to protect. We anticipate that Cloudflare may try to spin their own narrative on what has happened with us posting this, and recognise that this may cause some confusion for the community. While we don’t think what Cloudflare has done is the right move, we don’t want to burn bridges and trust that we don’t need to, so we intend to keep the conversations involved here private if we can. That being said, rest assured that we do have plenty of receipts for what we’ve said Cloudflare has done in this post (including suppressing negative messages from users and outright banning users posting those), and we will share these if we decide it is necessary to preserve the true narrative.

Can I still get support from Cloudflare directly in the new server?

This is unclear. Activity from Cloudflare employees even in the official server is few and far between, with most support coming from the community directly. While there are some Cloudflare employees already in the server, they’re not there in any official capacity, and in time, we hope that many other Cloudflare folks can find a home in the new server.

What happened to the XYZ channel?

One of the issues in the official server that we would raise regularly was the sheer number of channels that ended up abandoned by their product teams. To combat this, we’re starting small but centralising on a few product categories, and will evaluate and increase the number of channels over time as needed.

Can issues still be escalated from the Discord?

In the old server, we had a direct tap to many of Cloudflare’s customer support and engineering folks, including multiple custom integrations allowing us to quickly escalate issues to the right folks. Many of those folks lost their jobs or have left the server after the recent news.

However, lots of us still have very good friends at Cloudflare, and other methods of escalation that we’ll use as needed should issues arise that can’t be solved in the community. We’re confident resolution times won’t be any slower than they currently are.

Will Cloudflare still (officially) use this subreddit?

This subreddit has always been community-moderated, much like the Discord (though unlike the previous Discord server, the community runs the subreddit and holds ownership of it). There are some Cloudflare employees present here, and sometimes you’ll see a response from an executive when a post gets a lot of public attention, but moderation from employees has always been near-zero.

We have no current intentions to remove anyone at Cloudflare from the subreddit - we want to continue collaborating with them to benefit the community, and their integrations for blog posts and things should continue to work without issue.

Moderator note: This is a community post, not an official Cloudflare statement. Do not use this post to justify spam, harassment, brigading, or abuse toward Cloudflare staff, Discord moderators, or community members. The purpose of this pin is to keep the community informed and to request clarity around moderation and the future of the Discord/community spaces.

Question I have a 4g router and cloudflare just blocked me

Since some drunk driver ran into a telephone pole nearby, I lost my wired internet connection and have to use a 4g router sent by the internet provider. It's been a month, everything was going fine.

Yesterday suddenly everything refused to work, I eventually found out that it was the DNS not working. I had set it to cloudflare.

I changed it to Google and now about 50% of the internet works, but every website that is protected by cloudflare or that uses it in any way refuses to load.

When I use my phone, not in wifi, the same websites work immediately.

I thought I would reset my box IP address by restarting it but I've done 3 times already, the IP address does change but cloudflare still refuse my connections.

Question Can you run ads or any form of monetisation on the free plan

Hi there,

Just wanted to confirm.

Can we run ads or any form of monetisation on the free plan

The plan is to release a side project see how it is going if it goes well and good, I hope to buy a custom domain and run ads but this made me think if I have to upgrade first to a paid tier or it is possible to do so on free plan

New workflow for AI checking my cloudflare/server logs/events. Identify repeat scrapers and vulnerability scanners, group them by hosting company, THEN draft the abuse reports with IPs, timestamps and evidence.

Will Microsoft, Google or Tencent etc do anything?

Who knows. But the abuse is documented, and their hosts get a report.

My small contribution to making the internet slightly less dirty.

Discussion How to Enable Full-page Caching for WordPress on Cloudflare Free Plan?

I've been working with WordPress + Cloudflare for a while, and one thing that still feels unnecessarily complicated is full-page HTML caching.

Cloudflare works great for static assets out of the box, but getting WordPress pages cached properly usually means setting up Cache Rules, figuring out what should bypass the cache, handling cache purges, and making sure things like /wp-admin/, logged-in users, and dynamic pages aren't accidentally cached.

I've been trying to find a simple setup that works well on the Cloudflare Free plan without adding another heavy WordPress caching plugin.

So I'm curious:

  • Are you using Cloudflare Cache Rules for full-page WordPress caching?
  • Are you using a WordPress plugin to manage it?
  • Or do you prefer keeping HTML caching completely separate from WordPress?

Note: I'm the developer of a WordPress plugin called SuperFlare Cache that I originally built to simplify this Cloudflare + WordPress setup.

I'm not looking to turn this into an ad — I'm mainly interested in how others are handling it and what problems you're running into.

If you've got a setup you're happy with, I'd genuinely like t

Discussion How do you describe quality web traffic?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I think the obvious answer is: an interested human who actually interacts with your product.

There are a lot of ways to measure interaction, but I wanted to try something different.

I built a Cloudflare-native SaaS called Shape Beacon that measures how someone interacts with a site. Not just clicks, bounce rate, or page views.

Instead, I reduce behavioral patterns into six different Shapes. I spent about a month testing and tuning them so each Shape represents a distinct type of interaction.

The whole thing is privacy-first, and it's free to connect a Cloudflare domain and try it.

Right now I'm especially interested in figuring out how to turn this data into something genuinely useful. Things like a meaningful-visit signal, behavioral journeys, and better ways to understand the quality of traffic rather than just the quantity.

With so much web traffic now coming from bots, crawlers, AI agents, and other automated systems, I think there may be room for another layer of analytics focused specifically on observable behavior.

I'd love feedback from the Cloudflare community.

Does this seem like a useful way to think about traffic quality, or am I wandering too far down the behavioral analytics rabbit hole?

Question New to CloudFlare and Websites (newbie completely)

I've done some basics with websites using host gator and nixihost and Wordpress... so a friend came to me to help build a basic landing page to collect emails (using Kit) and have it be the homepage. I've NEVER heard of or used CloudFlare and it is complex! I added in the DNS records and turned off the proxy, but it's been 5 days and it's still not updated to show the website as the Kit landing page when typed in.
What am I missing here? I keep reading that it's not a host, and then others say it is a host... but the dates of these posts are all over the place. The verbiage in this thing (can't say host/domain/webpage).. is so complicated and doesn't make sense to me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! It's just getting that simple Kit landing page I've made to be the home page for this domain they have with CloudFlare.... (please keep it simple, as again, I'm very brand new to all this)

Discussion Finally dialed in my GL.iNet Slate AX + Warp Plus setup. The SQM/Cake results speak for themselves.

I’ve been running a GL.iNet Slate AX in drop-in gateway mode, and since I primarily use it for heavy streaming (Netflix, Prime, remote Plex server), stability and low jitter matter way more to me than raw download numbers. My base ISP connection is 930/110 Mbps, but I push my traffic through Cloudflare Warp.

When I first set this up using the free tier of Warp, my speeds were taking a massive hit—around 230 Mbps down and 41 Mbps up - and my network quality scores were hovering in the "poor to average" range. I upgraded to Warp Plus to bring down the latency and jitter, which definitely helped, but I wanted to squeeze every ounce of performance out of this router.

After doing some digging, I jumped into the advanced LuCI interface and made two critical tweaks:

Enabled Packet Steering to better handle the traffic load.

Installed the SQM package and set the active discipline to Cake, applying it specifically to the WireGuard client interface (WGClient).

Crucially, I am not doing any traffic shaping on the download side. Since I'm not a heavy downloader, I left the download completely unrestricted. I only applied the SQM shaping to the uploads, setting the limit to 95 Mbps (to leave a little headroom on my 110 Mbps base).

The difference is night and day. As you can see in the screenshots, I'm now pulling over 400 Mbps on Fast.com, and the Cloudflare test shows a rock-solid 328/81 Mbps with 0% packet loss and barely 2.19ms of jitter. More importantly, it finally gave me the highest possible "Great" ratings across the board for video streaming and chatting.

Sure, I’m sacrificing some of that raw 930 Mbps top-end speed by pushing it through the VPN, but for absolutely flawless, buffer-free streaming, this configuration is magic.

Can't get past the "Performing security verification" page

I have an Acer Chromebook Plus 514. I've never had an issue with any Cloudflare verification pages, until now. Starting a few days ago I can't get past ANY "Performing security verification" pages. It just gets hung up and spins forever.

I tried Incognito Mode. I cleared my browser data -- cleared my cache and cookies for "All time." No luck.

I don't have any ad-blocker extensions. I don't use a VPN. My system clock has the correct date and time. Internet speed is around 300 Mbps on AT&T Fiber.

Note: I *can* get past this page on my phone, which is using the same wifi as my Chromebook.

Anyone know what might be wrong? Any way to fix this?

Also, why might this suddenly start happening after working correctly for almost 2 years?

Thanks!

this verification thing legitimately never works for me. i always have to reload my page for it to let me in, but my normal trick wasnt working on disboard. i just close the browser and give up on trying to join this server. i come back to find this? i can assure you my phones time is accurate, because otherwise i would never be on time for anything. as of posting, it is 16:16 for me (UK time). so basically this thing is kicking me out of websites for no reason whatsoever. great. and i doubt ill get any useful feedback here as from a quick scroll it seems to be just AI bros.

Community TIL you can’t delete a Cloudflare Pages project if it has 100+ deployments — here’s the fix

So I spent way too long staring at this error today:

“Your project has too many deployments to be deleted, follow this guide to delete them”

I was trying to clean up an old Cloudflare Pages project I no longer needed. Hit delete, typed the project name to confirm, and boom - blocked. Cloudflare just refuses to delete the project if you have 100 or more deployments sitting there.

The frustrating part is there’s no “select all and delete” option in the dashboard. You have to go through them manually.

What actually worked:

I just went into the Deployments tab and deleted them one by one until I got below 100. Once I was at 99, the project deletion went through without any issues.

Yeah it’s tedious, but it’s faster than fighting the API or writing a script. If you only need to trim maybe 10-20 deployments to get under the limit, just do it by hand.

TLDR: Cloudflare Pages won’t let you delete a project with 100+ deployments. Get it under 100 first, then delete the project normally.

Hope this saves someone the 30 minutes I wasted on it.

Question Attack?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hey guys, I seem to be getting 'attacked' by random bots? I guess, My website / online store is based in Australia and using Prestashop Geolocation have allowed Ip addresses within Au to access it. However based on the above there was 1.2M hits over night from the usual suspects.

Part of it was Claude-Searchbot was not blocked and have allowed 1.03GB of data to access / transfered. I would say this attack is causing the website to shit itself.

Any advise on what I should be looking at to block these overseas ppl.

CloudFlare has lately been breaking EVERY website I use

I use Firefox on Linux. The ONLY extension I have installed is uBlock Origin, and I've made sure its filter lists are all updated. Even when it is disabled, EVERY website that uses Cloudflare has lately been entirely blocking my access. This is annoying, to put it mildly. Is there any support channel I can use aside from futilely requesting that all the sites I use (Chewy, Facebook, McCoy's, etc.) stop using CloudFlare?

Sometimes, I get the "verify you are human" checkbox, but it just results in an infinitely (as many times as I click it) reloading page.

Is Cloudflare Workers AI having capacity issues? GLM 5.2/5.3 and DeepSeek V4 fail, Kimi 2.7 Pro works

This error is driving me crazy:

Too Many Requests: {"errors":[{"message":"AiError: AiError: Service temporarily at capacity (efdee6a2-825c-4c77-bcf7-4e19c507229e)","code":4006}],"success":false,"result":{},"messages":[]}

I can't use GLM 5.2, GLM 5.3, or DeepSeek V4 because I keep getting this error. However, if I switch to Kimi 2.7 Pro, it works fine.

I'm using a paid Cloudflare Workers account.

I already changed my API keys in case one of them had been exposed previously while testing other models.

This is driving me crazy. Is this happening only to me, or is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

I'll post this in the Cloudflare channel on Reddit to see if anyone else is experiencing the same problem.

Question AO3 Cloudfare

Hi!! So I use ao3 on my kindle, and I've had no issues until July this year. Every time I open ao3, it pushes the cloudfare page onto, instantly making it incompatible with a kindle since you can't click buttons like that + the bot verification embed button just doesn't load overall

The checkbox just doesn't appear so I can't get past it

If anyone knows how I can fix it, that'd be awesome!
Thank you

Question Workers Paid plan invoice missing, but Cloudflare says payment is overdue

Is anyone else having issues with payments for their Workers Paid plan?

This month’s invoice is completely missing from my invoice list, and there haven’t been any payment attempts showing up in my PayPal account either.

However, Cloudflare says that my invoice is unpaid and tells me to click on the invoice in the invoice list to pay it manually — but the invoice simply isn’t there.

So I’m basically being told to pay an invoice that I can’t even access.

Has anyone else run into the same issue recently? Is this a known billing problem on Cloudflare’s side?

And yes, I’ve already submitted a support ticket about it :)
