Where should your 2027 conference tournament be held? (if the only thing that mattered was finding a gym nearest the geographic center of gravity)

Using geomidpoint.com I plotted every conference's 26-27 membership, and found a midpoint. From there, I found the nearest gym/arena that holds 1500+ people. All were within 65 miles of the midpoint, most much closer. Yes, this is dumb. Of course it'll never happen for all sorts of reasons. But I just wanted to see where the most "neutral" court would be for each conference. The table below lists where each conference should hold their tournament. I'll add images of the maps in the comments.

Conference Arena/Gym Location
A-10 Bobcat Arena Frostburg (MD) State University
ACC EA Diddle Arena Western Kentucky (Bowling Green) University
AEC Mullins Center UMass (Amherst)
ASUN Morris Gymnasium Middle Georgia State (Cochran, GA) University
American Humphrey Coliseum Mississippi State (Starkville) University
B1G Hilton Coliseum Iowa State (Ames) University
Big 12 Percefull Fieldhouse Northwestern Oklahoma State (Alva) University

Big West Walther Center Gymnasium West Coast Baptist (Lancaster, CA) College
CAA Hytche Athletic Center University of Maryland (Princess Anne, MD) Eastern Shore

Discussion How does a low-major receive an at-large bid?

I'm genuinely curious what it would take for a low-major program to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Take teams like McNeese, UNC Wilmington, High Point and Western Kentucky. All are projected to be really good this year, but it feels like if any of them lose in their conference tournament, their NCAA Tournament hopes are basically over.

So what exactly is the path to an at-large for programs like these?

I know strength of schedule is a big part of the conversation, but how much can we really hold that against low-majors when we know how difficult it is for good teams at that level to get high-majors to schedule them in the first place?

I would love for the expanded field to include more NON power conference schools, but we all know thats not going to happen

Since UW doesn't want to play any other Washington colleges, let's make SU and WSU a new rivalry.

'This kid has the f---ing over on turnovers'. CBS Sports article show that 27% of coaches admit they have seriously wondered if a player or players of theirs have been compromised on the court due to gambling/game-fixing.

Recruiting [Pitino] I'm still puzzled as to why the NCAA didn’t wait until November with these new rules. All of this confusion could have been avoided. I can only imagine how much of our money has been spent on lawyers.

LSU Roster is Still Only 4 Players and Classes Started This Past Monday

Post image

So what exactly is going on? I’ve seen posts on this in the past, but 5 days of classes are complete. You can’t add a class after Sept 2nd. Only 4 dudes are still listed.

Maybe you don’t really need to register for any classes in this new world we live in?

Will Wade is gonna have to run the three guards and a forward set if something doesn’t happen soon.

If the NCAA rule is 5/5

Why are there players playing a 6th year? Players were ruled ineligible? Nobody seems to mind not enforcing that rule.

Basketball, football, etc.
