Everything here is within 3 blocks of each other. The Downtown COS bar scene is amazing.

These are all fantastic bars. I’d spend a few hours at any of these individually, perfect for a good date. So if you’re not hitting multiple, just take this as a list of good recommendations. I included their themes too.

• Dinner: Jack Quinn’s (grab a Guinness or a car bomb while you’re at it, if you go on Sunday happy hour between 3 and 6, you’ll hear some live Irish tunes and get cheap pints/wells, vintage irish pub)

• The Rabbit Hole (grab some appetizers too, Alice in Wonderland themed, used to be a morgue, looks like a subway entrance)

Hi ya’ll just wanted to give water heater pros a shout out. I had to get my water heater replaced. I had an ao smith which are junk replaced with a commercial grade rheem. I used water heater pros and had it replaced in 24 hours for less than 2k. Quotes from Lowe’s and home dept were 3k. If you ever have to have one replaced I highly recommend them.

Was awoken last night to what I thought was thunder in my dreams. As I slowly came to I realized it was someone breaking into my garage. Sprang into action and came toe to claw with a giant black bear. In less than 2 minutes per the camera footage , the bear ripped into the garage , stole one trash bag out of the trash can inside and casually jogged off when I confronted it. CPW has been contacted and taken a report. Said an officer will be in contact as the bear caused significant damage and forced entry.

Not much I can do different. I have the trash can that the trash service provides. Put it out weekly and it’s always kept in the garage with all windows and doors shut. I got super lucky that I reacted in time and the bear didn’t decide to have a mosh pit inside my shop.

Do what you can guys and be prepared to defend yourself and little ones. We’ve all seen the increased bear activity in the news. Them climbing thru open windows. Well now they are literally smashing thru walls.

Reading the actual text of Initiative 109 (which is available on the Secretary of State's website), there are a few significant implementation problems that I think deserve attention regardless of where you land on the underlying policy question:

1. The enforcement mechanism is undefined.
   The bill delegates enforcement to the Commissioner of Education, who has discretion to determine "appropriate remedial action." There's no specification of what that means, no due process protections, no appeal mechanism. For a measure that affects every K-12 and college sports program in the state, that's a significant design problem.

2. Verification is undefined.
   The bill requires teams to be designated by sex assigned at birth, but the text doesn't specify how sex is to be verified. Genetic testing? Birth certificate inspection? Physical exam? Self-report? This was raised explicitly by One Colorado's executive director — "who decides who gets questioned, who gets inspected, and which kids are going to be singled out?" — and remains unanswered in the text.

3. The bill is unfunded.
   There's no appropriation in the measure for implementation. Schools are being asked to develop and enforce new policies with no budget for compliance staff, training, or any verification apparatus that might be required.

4. The downstream effects on cis girls are unaddressed.
   If verification is based on appearance or stereotype (which is what vague enforcement usually produces in practice), cis girls who don't look stereotypically feminine — tall, broad-shouldered, athletic, short hair — become vulnerable to being questioned or excluded.

The Daily Camera op-ed from One Colorado and Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains lays out several of these concerns. Their main argument is specifically about implementation and unintended consequences, not the underlying policy debate. That's a framing I think most evidence-driven folks can engage with.
