Columbus has several different pro and semi-pro sports teams for you to check out and root for but not all of us can make it to every game or keep up with it each of them so this is my weekly attempt to do so.
My goal for these posts are simple. Give you a brief recap of the previous week's games, a summary of where the team sits in the standings, and let you know when the next games are.
------
The Columbus Clingstones are the Minor League, Double-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves located in Columbus, GA. They are part of the Southern League - South Division and play their games at Synovus Park at South Commons.
Recap
Ummm.. What was that?! The Stones were in action in Chattanooga against the Lookouts and honestly, that was a very poor showing. Especially against a team that is doing as bad as the Lookouts have been this second half. Losing 4 of 6 games isn't a great series no matter who it is against but I honestly didn't think we would lose a series to those bums. Its almost like the pitching just got really bad for most the series as the Clingstones allowed 35 runs while scoring 33 of our own. Oh well, there is always next week.
As for the standings, the Stones sit at 30-27 in the Southern League - South Division. Unfortunately, Pensacola won 4 of there games this week and crawled ahead to 7.5 games ahead of us. There are only 2 series left in the season (12 games) so we are going to need some good games in our favor and for them to stumble to make up this deficit.
Looking Ahead
Next week, the Stones have a prime opportunity to make up some ground as they face the #1 ranked Pensacola Blue Wahoos. If we can win this series with 5 or even 6 games, we can make a huge dent in their lead in the standings.
Note: I don't want to forget but check out /u/ClingstonesBoxScores posts. They are doing a great job giving everyone a recap of each game with way more in depth posts than this one.
--------
The Columbus River Dragons are a professional minor league hockey team based in Columbus, GA. Recap
A couple of signings and trades. Looks like the season is getting set up. Just 7 weeks left.
Looking Ahead
Now we wait for the season to start in October. We did get the main interactive calendar updated so you can find that below.
Columbus River Dragons Schedule

You guys seemed to like this so let's continue it. I know this isn't pro or semi-pro but local high school football can be some good fun.
The Chattahoochee Valley has well over a dozen high school football teams between public and private institutions. Here, we'll drop the scores from the week for local teams.
Area Week 2 Scores
--------

Hi. I'll be bringing a few riverboards and river gear to Wave Shaper Island late afternoon / early evening on Saturday, Sept. 12th for a demo. What is riverboarding? Imagine ocean bodyboarding meets whitewater on a beefier, more buoyant board designed for rapids. Riverboarding lets you be IN the water and feel the currents and has an easier learning curve than kayaking.
I'm shooting for 5:00 - 7:00 PM EST after doing demos and riding at Montgomery earlier in the day as well. If wishing to try it, be flexible / patient as if the power company doesn't release until 5:00, it usually takes 45 minutes for the flow to reach Good Wave. Hopefully they'll release earlier in the afternoon, but we'll see.
What to bring: swim attire, towel, and water bottle. I will provide riverboards, safety gear, fins, and rash guard shirts. Feel free to ask questions in comments or message me. Thanks for reading and hope some will come out to try being IN the water instead of on it.

I’ve been to a lot of different states and cities, and in my opinion, Columbus has to be one of the best smaller cities to go for a run.
It’s not overly busy or crowded, but it still has this calm, peaceful atmosphere that makes running here enjoyable. There’s also plenty of great scenery and outdoor spaces to take in along the way. Especially the river!
Sometimes I’ll run along the RiverWalk, and other times I’ll head through downtown. Both have their own vibe, but there’s just something really peaceful about running through Columbus.
Good scenery, fresh air, and a laid-back atmosphere. It’s definitely one of my favorite places to run. 🏃♂️🌳

I’m thinking of having my party this year at a park and just have a potluck and board game night with some friends but I’m not able to rent out a pavilion or anything, what can I do? I was hoping Britt David park would have some picnic tables but I don’t see any on the map (my birthday is next weekend btw but I want to hand out invites tomorrow)
Edit: I talked to my mom and we decided on Cascade Hills park as the pavilions there are a free first come first serve deal

Like the title says, I’m looking for someone (or more than one someone) who would be willing to complete some handyman work, which would include removing a rotted wooden handrail (and a couple of side boards) from our deck and replacing them. We are also looking to replace the carpet in a bonus room space (about 700 sq ft) and the stairs leading up to it. If you aren’t that someone but have recommendations, please share!

We had a fun week with the Columbus GA Food & Friends (CGFF) group the last week or so!
We did a dinner & hangout at Banks Food Hall to try Niaz, the new Persian restaurant last Wednesday. We did our weekly Saturday morning walk at Market Days & the Riverwalk. This week we did $3 Tacos & Trivia at Jarfly on Tuesday, Dinner at the Mix Market and a Ghost Tour at the Springer on Friday, and then the Country's Midnight Express 5K Saturday night.
And we'd love to have YOU get out of the house and come join us for more fun this week!
The Columbus GA Food & Friends group is a group I started in April of this year because I couldn't figure out how to meet people here in Columbus. Since then, the group has grown to over 300 people and I've had a lot of adventures and made some good friends along the way.
Every week I plan 3-4 events that are free / low cost for anyone in the group who wants to join us. We do walks, trivia, karaoke, bingo, wing nights, and whatever else I can find in the Columbus / Phenix City area that week to do. Every other Friday, we do a nice dinner at a local, non-chain restaurant as well.
Link: Columbus GA Food & Friends group
Cost: $0
How to Join: Click the link and answer the 3 questions, then agree to the rules.
We look forward to meeting you this week!

As someone (19F) who doesn’t really like TikTok and hasn’t had instagram for over a year, it’s extremely hard to make friends ;( I take online classes too only because traditional sucks for me. I really enjoy hiking, walking, running, reading, collecting little things, and having a glass of wine watching gossip girl. If you like any of those too, I hope we can connect! I would really like to have more friends here :,)

Anyone here on TRT or has experience with getting it prescribed in Columbus? I’m a male, mid 40s, looking for a local doctor who actually understands TRT. I’d rather not have to jump through hoops or go through several doctors before finding one who is supportive of it. Otherwise, I may just end up going through a hormone clinic.

I've noticed a food stand at the Crown gas station on the corner of Veterans and Manchester. It is always packed, and they are there late. What are they selling? I haven't stopped by yet.

I recently did a wardrobe assessment and came across a few items I'd like to get taken in at the waist to better fit me and a few pieces with some stains that I've tried to get out and failed.
Any recommendations for either of these categories? Trying to be intentional with what I have and salvage my investments as much as possible.

Hi all! I’m wondering what places around here have cocktails that are sweet. I don’t need some bougie drink with four different types of liquor and stuff I can’t pronounce. I want something that tastes like juice. Please and thank you!!!
