This is just not a joke. I'm not even sure if I'm in favor or against the point of the meme, but it just doesn't make me laugh at all. It doesn't even feel like it's trying to make anyone laugh

34

u/AContrarianDick 3d ago

It feels like the only people who laugh at this also would have a fragile ego, no friends and frequently seem themselves as superior to others.

6

u/ExtendoArmCannon 3d ago

Seriously, only dumb right-wing maga chuds who are dumb and have no friends would laugh at this, we're so much better than them, with much better senses of humour and values.

Unironically this

You can feel the rage behind this comment

1

Yup, just dripping with venom and hatred. Hissssss

-15

u/IdkMbyStars 3d ago

All of that just from this meme? wow u must be some kind of a sage, or mby just rly struggling with projection idkk

9

u/AContrarianDick 3d ago

Experience with people is also a thing some of us possess.

1

u/femboy_slenderman 2d ago

What kind of experience did you have to come to such an oddly specific conclusion?

-8

u/IdkMbyStars 3d ago

So is extra chromosome. Snap

9

u/AContrarianDick 3d ago

Only took you two hours after that "ur just sooo cringy >.<" comment, that you deleted, to come up with that.

Don't hurt yourself coming up with the next mic drop moment.

-6

u/IdkMbyStars 3d ago

Bet it would take u atleast 4 hours to come up with such a genius comeback hahhaha. Snap again

7

u/AContrarianDick 3d ago

You sure showed me or something.

0

u/IdkMbyStars 3d ago

Yea i sure did. Mby too much tbh. Mby i was too hard on you. Im sorry

1

u/Her_Phantom_Mountain 3d ago

Hit too close to home, huh?

16

u/MauschelMusic 3d ago

The classic American indoctrination that having the same opinion as others makes you a conformist and not fully human is such a load bearing piece of cognitive dissonance. I think it's near the heart of why we're so easy to atomize and control.

6

u/DELCO-PHILLY-BOY 3d ago

Guess I don’t disagree with the premise but it’s not as groundbreaking and intellectual as the person who made it thinks it is.

2

u/Debunkingdebunk 3d ago

I think it's just the old NPC meme with Simpsons paint.

0

u/Debunkingdebunk 3d ago

What did you find controvertible about the meme?

5

u/voyaging 3d ago

I thought that was pretty clear, the fact that it isn’t a joke.

3

u/Moonless_the_Fool 3d ago

Controversial? What do you mean? I don't find anything controversial is just not a joke. The whole subreddit is about bad jokes, and this meme is nit even a joke. I don't even know if the creator frame it as a joke.

2

u/Debunkingdebunk 3d ago

Not controversial, controvertible. It's clearly framed as a joke combining the Simpsons and NPC meme with a statement that clearly got a emotional response from the people viewing it.

-6

u/BuzzClucking 3d ago

You're the NPC frowning

69

u/gwanddawd123 3d ago

People say this and the opinion they're talking about is "minorities should be protected".

-29

u/Rippedka 3d ago

Pedos are a minority.

25

u/mamadou-segpa 3d ago

The only people who want this minority group protected voted for one and got him elected

-16

u/Rippedka 3d ago

Ya I’m saying not all minorities deserve protection but go ahead and downvote lol

11

u/Vast-Palpitation-426 3d ago

Innocent people should be protected.

11

u/Ben_Graf 3d ago

Did the comment said "all"? no. Why so edgy then?

5

u/cwolf-softball 2d ago

You couldn't be more disingenuous

0

u/Rippedka 1d ago

Also Israel is a minority… i can see where this is gonna go in this thread 😂

3

u/septumchunks 1d ago

Bean soup theory

2

u/Yuck_Few 1d ago

Someone check this guy's hard drive

-16

u/Wooden_Half6797 3d ago

Yeah because you people will claim that racists are brainwashed when it's literally one of the most stigmatized opinions in the first world

10

u/geelinz 2d ago

Really? The president of the United States and richest man in the world are racists.

-7

u/Wooden_Half6797 2d ago

I wish

6

u/TestSubject5kk 2d ago

Congrats your wish has come true, idk why that's a wish

0

u/Wooden_Half6797 1d ago

You really think anything right of Biden is racism don't you

2

u/Mind_Mischief2 1d ago

You are quite obviously a young child. Go back to learning your basic level algebra, and stop trying to be edgy online. You know nothing about this topic, you just parrot whatever you think is cool and edgy. Seriously go pay attention in school more, you really really need it!

1

u/Wooden_Half6797 1d ago

Oh of course, a redditor is telling me to learn about having accurate views on the political spectrum, I should truly listen to them, as redditors are known for their accurate political takes

1

u/Mind_Mischief2 1d ago

I said nothing about what my political opinion was, or anything my political views. All I brought up was how you’re objectively uneducated in matters that pertain to this conversation, and you should focus on your studies instead of spout nonsense on the internet. I won’t be arguing with somebody who just grasped simple algebra, and who can’t even vote on these matters. You’re young, you probably just don’t know any better.

1

u/Wooden_Half6797 13h ago

You don't need to say anything about what your political opinion is. You're a redditor. I already know what your political orientation is. And somebody disagreeing with you is not the same as being uneducated, nor is contemporary education even the god of enlightenment you make it out to be.

1

u/TestSubject5kk 1d ago

If you're tryna say that trump and Elon aren't racists, do you really need me to pull out all the receipts his entire campaign in 2016 and 2024 was about him being racist towards Mexicans, and Elon is a literal proud nazi

1

u/Wooden_Half6797 1d ago

Oh right, that's why more than half of all mexicans voted for him

1

u/TestSubject5kk 1d ago

Did you not read project 2025? Are you just closing your eyes yelling lalalalalala about all the ice raids?

Yeah a ton of mexican people voted for trump idfk after 2016 they should've known all of this would've happened

u/Nat1Only 3d ago

The statement is not global, nor does it apply to just one group of people. You failing to see that is quite telling.

44

u/Rip_Skeleton 3d ago

The opinions being that racism and gender discrimination are bad I guess. It's not like corporate America is publishing political manifestos.

17

u/RodinKnox 3d ago

I love the edited meme with all the news people saying the exact same thing, except they are all just saying "9 + 10 = 19."

4

u/Dude1590 3d ago

That sounds hilarious lmao

2

u/NotItemName 3d ago

except they are all just saying "9 + 10 = 19."

And that's just wrong 9+10 = 21

1

u/Neither-Ruin5970 3d ago

What makes you say that

-5

u/Debunkingdebunk 3d ago

The best thing about art is that everyone finds their own meaning. This is what you thought when you saw this meme.

5

u/Rip_Skeleton 3d ago

I've been on the internet long enough to know what people whine about.

-3

u/Debunkingdebunk 3d ago

Oh clearly not long enough, go look up what some of the greats like Carlin thought about media and corporations.

5

u/Rip_Skeleton 3d ago

You're mistaking my criticism of the meme with having a positive opinion of the media.

There's only one thing someone who uses the term "NPC" means by this, and it's just "Woke"

-5

u/Debunkingdebunk 3d ago

Like I said, everyone finds what they look for from a great piece of art.

2

u/Rip_Skeleton 3d ago

I really don't think there's another way to interpret this unless you think celebrities are going around preaching the free market.

0

u/Debunkingdebunk 3d ago

Buddy, I'm old enough to remember a time when vapid celebrities, mass media and corporations were the tool of the ruling class to opress the masses, not as a tool for social justice.

3

u/Rip_Skeleton 3d ago

Two things can be true. Social justice is marketable. But that doesn't make it brainwashing, which is the implication.

0

u/Debunkingdebunk 3d ago

But the meme has no mention of social justice. The fact that people think that celebrities, media and corporations are on their side is a sign that the propaganda is working. I think it all started with social media when the guys in charge realized how stupid and easily manipulated your average guy is. Hence this meme.

1

u/thefran 1d ago

george carlin would have been considered a woke soyboy by people who make memes like this

1

u/Debunkingdebunk 1d ago

Now we're interpreting intentions of some straw man memer?

1

u/thefran 1d ago

you people are npcs so i am not sure you have intentions

1

u/Debunkingdebunk 1d ago

Well "you people" only exist inside your head so you should be the only one to know.

1

u/thefran 11h ago

so you don't exist? delete your reddit account then

1

u/Debunkingdebunk 5h ago

Certainly not in a way you imagine.

29

u/Ok-Mistake-7499 3d ago

I always hated this type of standpoint. Opinions aren’t invalidated just because they’re the popular one

8

u/scrufflor_d Pickle Dick 3d ago

if someone is a contrarian and always believes the opposite of what they believe the media wants them to think, they are still letting the media control their opinions, even indirectly. actual free thinkers believe what they think is true regardless of what the media says, and that means having some opinions the media also has.

3

u/Ok_Star_4136 3d ago edited 3d ago

To perhaps state the obvious, nobody who wants you to be a follower will tell you to think for yourself. Someone is telling you to be a non-conformist, that's still telling you what you should be thinking in the same way that telling you to be a conformist is telling you what you should be thinking.

Just don't be a follower. Your viewpoint might just coincide with someone else's. That doesn't mean you're a conformist.

1

u/voyaging 3d ago

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being a follower if the people you’re following are moral and trustworthy and have integrity.

2

u/Ok_Star_4136 3d ago

People change in my humble experience. Besides, what are you following when someone expresses good moral judgment? You're following their example, not them specifically. You should follow someone so long as they continue to be moral and trustworthy and stop following the moment that changes. Another way to describe this is to think for yourself at all times.

And regardless, what do I lose by doing so?

2

u/Neither-Ruin5970 3d ago

Having all the same opinions and repeating talking points verbatim is npc though, that’s far past coincidence

7

u/christonabike_ Teacher fainted!!! 3d ago edited 3d ago

That's not wrong, there are definitely talking points which get repeated a lot just due to the bandwagon effect. I think it would be fair to call this NPC behavior.

However there are other talking points which get repeated a lot because people over a certain threshold of critical thinking ability can see how they are obviously correct.

From being quite online for many years now, observing which online communities like to use this "NPC" meme the most, and what their politics and ethics are, I am about 85% confident that OOP takes issue with the latter category of talking points. These may include, but are not limited to:

"Climate change is anthropogenic"

"Donald Trump is getting a bit senile, actually"

"vaccines work"

"Epstein probably did kill himself"

"Women can leave the kitchen if they want"

"Throwing homosexuals off the top of ten storey buildings is wrong."

"child porn is immoral"

6

u/dxt8p 3d ago

> me and a celebrity thinking its wrong to kill people

You: Ha you are such a NPC.

8

u/IHatePeople79 3d ago

Literally everyone on earth has at least a few opinions shared by a majority, it’s impossible not to lol

4

u/Debunkingdebunk 3d ago

But that's not what the meme is saying, now is it?

3

u/CCP_Annihilator 3d ago

It is not merely appeal to popularity fallacy this meme point out! But that the point is inherently profound while still appeal to popularity is the problem.

3

u/CenterThisPendulum 3d ago

And some people reject good, popular ideas because they are contrarian which is also not sophisticated.

3

u/New-Interaction1893 3d ago

What's make you think you are the protagonist of the world ? Thinking you are not an NPC is a extremely arrogant way of thinking, if not even stupid and dangerous.

3

u/KoronaV 3d ago

Comments were the cope I had anticipated. Thank you OP.

2

u/CarneDelGato 3d ago

Everyone thinks the Earth is round, which makes them NPCs. Not me, I'm the protagonist of God's Green Flat Earth.

2

u/SupremeLeaderMeow 1d ago

Yeah yeah, everybody you disagree with is not an actual human. This is a very sensible point and not an extremely sollipsitic point of view towards dehumanization.

2

u/stev_mempers 3d ago

Meanwhile the guy who originally posted this implicitly trusts everything said by the president of the United States.

1

u/Debunkingdebunk 3d ago

The post makes no such claims, but you going there as your first thought is quite telling...

1

u/Due_Buyer_9445 3d ago

…you realize trump is a celebrity, right?

1

u/CavilIsBestSuperman 3d ago

Fox News watchers:

1

u/TorinEkenskolde 3d ago

Am I an NPC? No, I just agree with everything Fox News and the Daily Wire say.

1

u/SHTF_yesitdid 2d ago

Eat the rich

1

u/ClashAmory 2d ago

Does that include the rich jewish people?

1

u/SHTF_yesitdid 2d ago

Why did you specify "jewish people"?

1

u/ClashAmory 2d ago

Jewish people make up a significant portion of the 1%. Are you advocating eating jewish people as well?

1

u/SHTF_yesitdid 2d ago

How significant are we talking about? I would love to see some data.

1

u/ClashAmory 2d ago

Sure. What do you consider rich?

1

u/SHTF_yesitdid 2d ago edited 1d ago

"Jewish people make up a significant portion of the 1%". Your claim.

I am asking for some kind of data to verify.

1

u/CommercialMotor570 2d ago

I remember posting those type of memes in high school.

It’s little wonder by the end of high school I had no social life, and had barely any remaining friends I kept in contact with.

The funny thing too was I just got all my opinions from right wing YouTubers when I got sucked into the pipeline.

1

u/Possible_Ad3913 2d ago

"Real people" lol the self expose

1

u/dangerousideologue 2d ago

You can't be punk unless your political beliefs sound like the new HR guidelines 💅

1

u/cwolf-softball 2d ago

The people posting this repeat right wing talking points verbatim

1

u/doodgeeds 2d ago

If you call other people just trying to make it through life and don't care to think about things too deeply because they have their own problems "NPC"s I automatically assume you're a dickhead

1

u/DoctorButler 1d ago

Conservatives in a nutshell

1

u/Mycronamy 1d ago

That describes Reddit lol

1

u/Aberquill 1d ago

Since when did celebrities (probably trying to imply liberal) and corporations agree on the same things

1

u/Old-Natural-852 16h ago

Yeah!  I did my own research and just happened to come to the same conclusions as Joe Rogan and Elon Musk!  I'm a free thinker...my high school teachers just couldn't recognize it!  Something thing fish and trees cope.../s.

1

u/SimplexFatberg 10h ago

Literally not even an attempt at comedy.

1

u/limulovehana 3d ago

Real non npc pepole are - iq range at least 140 +, its less than 1% of world population - ya, both are npc because real non NPC already give up

1

u/Lost-Concept-9973 3d ago

I wonder if they include Fox News/ skye news in this …

2

u/Ergine_Dream 3d ago

It literally says EVERY media talking point. 🤦‍♂️

1

u/VibesBasedPolitics 3d ago

Oof

Hit a little too close to home, didn't it OP? Literally a perfect description of 95% of this sub
