Been raiding since ny lotha mostly mainly PUG heroic aotc and think this raid tier is a bit more juiced than I remmeber. Sepulcher was obv a tough one I think but compared to undermine or mana forge I think the first 5 are a bit tougher than first half of most raids I’ve seen. Twin fangs is easier than szz full stop

Am 4/8 hc atm pugging. Early bosses definitely feel a step up from previous tiers, but hoping tp get at least 6/8 done this week (last 2 maybe gonna be more of a wall).

Normal raid and even lfr were much harder than previous tiers though. Pugs wiping lots to several bosses where before you could kinda just wing it completely blind until like the penultimate boss.

Iam also 4/8 hc by pugging, i think coiled alter istn possible rn except for some aotc grp maybe everything before is relatively easy.

That’s interesting I didn’t know that. What comes second? I think Lura and queen ansurek seem tough as well historically right

Heroic L'ura was mechanically fairly challenging but the DPS check was pretty easy.

However it was also just not worth doing, it was harder than the first 4 mythic bosses but dropped hero track gear and was released a week later than than Voidspire/Chimaerus mythic

Definitely not lura, you could already kill her in p2 on heroic in the first week it was available

Twin fangs dps check seems a lot higher though, my group went 2/3/9 for Sszorak and 2/2/10 for twin fangs and we were still way closer to enrage on twin fangs.

This for sure seems like a much harder and stressful tier than last. I can feel the tension building already

I'm a pretty mid raid leader...we stumbled across the finish line on mythic beloren last tier. How do you guys keep the stress down? I can definitely feel it building. Heroic takes a decent amount of mechanical attention and isn't just falling over yet. I know gear is coming slowly and that should fix itself but still.

Eh I find that some amount of levity between trash packs keeps up morale, or perhaps calling a vid break if we’re wiping a ton on something. Or even calling people out and making fun of them, but in a way that isn’t overly harsh

Pulling a boss a bunch and wiping is fun for nobody so it’s naturally going to be stressful. My raid leader gets to the point where we just have to stop because he gets so frustrated, but we have a friend who subs sometimes and I personally think he does a better job because he just calmly calls things out. I think the raid is going to match the leader’s energy

We only do AotC tho and many of our players are quite casual, but we get it every tier. We’ve never had to sit a player but man have I wanted us to. But yeah, I think it’s mostly a vibe thing. If you’re stressed, they’re gonna be stressed

My aotc guild eagerly awaiting nerfs lol

Idk if they’re doubling down on it but it doesn’t sound like there will be big nerfs like there was for Lura. Ion said they tuned heroic harder on purpose because of the bonus roll and vault changes.

Good news is that at least to me Altar and Ulatek on heroic are like 90% tuning and the mechs themselves are quite easy, but yeah, probably gonna be waiting a bit on any nerfs that aren’t group size related

How far are you through? I'm one of the tryhards in my aotc friend guild and I'm quite excited at the prospect of meatier than usual bosses.

2

u/ChequeBook 2d ago

We're starting heroic tonight. As a healer I'm excited

u/Akoraz 2d ago

the first 5 are a joke still. your guild will be fine

Wind snake guy has been trolling my guild with the pair up mechanic.

2

u/StevenJamesMoore 1d ago

Agree with this, my ~12 man AOTC friend guild is struggling a bit with some of these heroic encounters that feel as if they don't scale the soaks/mechanics/etc. to smaller sizes :(

This is a noob question but for Ulatek, during the caustic waves cast can the tail tank leave melee range to dodge the wave?

2

u/Kabunk 2d ago

You don't go to the tail until after the waves have finished.

4

u/DreadfuryDK 9/9M SPriest/Devourer 2d ago

If you do, a melee’s going to be very angry with you.

1

u/pawksvolts 2d ago

So do they just eat a wave or does the cast last long enough for both waves from the boss?

3

u/DreadfuryDK 9/9M SPriest/Devourer 2d ago

I'm pretty sure the boss's melee range is big enough to hit from the corners, but the waves are also very livable as a tank.

2

u/pawksvolts 2d ago

I watched a POV and the tail tank can indeed leave melee range during the entire caustic waves cast to dodge the waves and perform the tank swap. Thanks everyone for the info!

We stumbled through Coiled Altar with the absolute smallest possible margin of HP and time left, my loot table for Coil Altar is 5 items with 4 being BiS, one roll used and just 4 BiS items to go… maybe next week 😭

What were Echo and Liquid pull counts for 6th boss?

3

u/Keladn 2d ago

Liquid had like 56 I think, not sure about echo

1

u/idkmanfiller 2d ago

I think echo was 19

4

u/DreadfuryDK 9/9M SPriest/Devourer 2d ago

That guild is so fucking insane at trimming down pull counts it's insane.

They natty played Mythic Jailer without the Mirrors of Torment cheese and sub-300'd the boss and then you had Pieces and Liquid taking 396 and 452. Boss was an absolute sweatshop to prog.

2

u/Akoraz 2d ago

Is it smart to skip Nymrissa Wavecaller until you have what you want from heroic vaults? That boss would potentially take up a slot in your vault which could be used for really good myth ulatek loot (from heroic).

12

u/idkmanfiller 2d ago

No because you just bonus roll heroic ulatek

What’s the best strategy for Raging Crosswinds on Heroic Sszorak?

Our guild has been struggling to consistently execute the mechanic, and I’m curious what strategies other groups are using.

We’ve been trying to form a line of pairs, but it feels pretty inconsistent. We’ll often end up with 1–3 players unable to find a partner, two unpaired players on opposite ends of the line, or too many people clustering toward the middle and making it hard to tell who should pair with whom.

The mechanic seems simple on paper, but in practice it’s been surprisingly painful to coordinate consistently.

3

u/DownhillNight 2d ago

You can have the stragglers without a partner go middle, in line with the boss. People need to recognize quick if they don't have a buddy though.

2

u/JayxShay 1d ago

I hope you don't have a ton of paladins or priests. You literally ignore the mechanic and everyone stays on the platform themselves.

2

u/Mellend96 Former HoF, US 16 1d ago

You just literally have everyone line up to go through boss as best they can and the mech is fire and forget. The line indicator doesn’t actually matter your character will just attract itself toward a nearby pair if it’s close enough.

Just tell people not to cancel it until they actually collide with someone. Probably too many people greeding.

Also some of them happen with tornadoes moving through the raid so if one side has to adjust probably just comm it if people are being caught unawares

would u guys recommend proggin ula tek Heroic or start the first mythic bosses?

3

u/dovjjfyijvct 1d ago edited 1d ago

Ulatek is much higher value, so if you can kill it, you should do that over first two mythic.

Based on our wowaudit loot list, ulatek heroic is like 6x more value than first two mythic combined. It's really op and especially important to kill early with the bonus roll change so you can get the loot flowing.

1

u/ChrispPotato 1d ago

First boss mythic is free loot if corpses are stacked (dk) and burned.

Ulatek is quite more of a challenge but worthwhile one.
