Is there any real difference between a compound target stabilizer and hunting stabilizer of the same length and rough price point

Not really?

I mean, as long as you can put the weight you need on the end of it, and it's the size you want... A stabilizer is a stabilizer.

I have the Trophy Ridge set with a back bar on my bow. Works well. It was cheap. Took an afternoon to get the weights correct.

Yeah that what I thought I figured when something budget friendly uses the term "hunting" it's just so they can charge more for an item (until you start getting to the high end stuff where the hunting vs target accessories become more specific

Yep, it's a carbon rod with weight on the end that brings you some balance. I like having a sidebar for that reason.

But I don't buy the crazy expensive stuff. No need. Matthews with their crazy 300 doallt stabs, nah.

Possibly.
Not all hunting stabilizers are designed to throw as much weight on them as the target guys like to run.
