First hunting bow.
Hi Community,
I’m completely new to archery and looking to buy my first compound bow. I’m interested in eventually getting into hunting once I build up some experience.
I’ve been comparing a few options, including the Mission Hammr, Diamond Edge XT, and Bear Cruzer G4. Since I’m just starting out, I’m not sure what draw weight or draw length would suit me best, or which bow would be the easiest to learn on while still being capable enough to use for hunting down the road.
Could you recommend a good beginner-friendly bow that I could grow into as I get more experience? I’d also appreciate any advice on what accessories or setup I might need to get started.

The Cruzer is great because it's so adjustable. You can grow with it. Set it low, get used to it, and work your way up in poundage.
Those prices are nuts. Unless you're in Canada?

And, the Legit is just a slightly larger G4 basically.. They are kinda finicky to keep timed and tuned but overall great starter bows..

Agreed. I always forget the Legit isn't a fixed poundage. It's adjustable as well.
Either one is great to start with. I always tell people to find something that's easy to adjust. As you get better and more aware, you may want to shorten your draw, lengthen it, take up the poundage... Etc.
Then once you know what you like, you buy a better bow. That's more tailored to your needs and wants.

I LOVE my Elite Emerse. The only downsides are you have to put your ego aside because it’s marketed “for youth and women” and you have to be short / have a short draw. I’m 5’6” with a 27.5” draw and it’s perfect. It feels like a flagship bow and I love that it’s a bit smaller/lighter for hunting but doesn’t look or feel like a ridiculously small youth bow. It only goes to 60lbs but I doubt I’ll want to go over that any time soon

I just got the Elite Basin and it’s an adjustable from 20-70 lbs. Good for beginners

Just go to an archery shop and try a bunch of different bows with different draw weights. They’ll be able to give you lots of advice and you might like a bow that wasn’t even on your radar.
