Pharmacy technician program

I’ll be starting the pharm tech program this September and I haven’t seen or heard a single person that has fully completed it. I’m a little worried that it’ll be a waste of my time but I can’t get hired at any pharmacy at entry level right now anyway…my end goal is to work in a hospital and I’ve heard that it’s easier to get hired with schooling and certification. Anyway if anyone can give me some tips or input on the program that will be greatly appreciated!!

Hello, current second year pharm tech here!

The reason you aren't hearing much is because the program is brand new. The first batch of graduates literally only graduated June of this year.

As a current student though, I have to say that I'm enjoying it so far! My end goal is to work in either a specialized compounding pharmacy or at a hospital one. Sue (the program coordinator) is very present and taught some of our classes last year. She's also with the PEBC board, so she has some great insights to how that exam is executed.

The other profs are great too (my favs are Rabinder and Farhana). Classes are relatively easy so long as you actually attend and listen. Of course, like any other accredited med program, there are zero-tolerance exams involving calculating doses. They're fairly straight-forward and easy, though make sure to double check literally EVERYTHING. If you fail one time, don't worry! They also give students a second go at it.

Thank you so much for this!! I’ve been literally searching everywhere for some insight on the program but this helps a lot. I wanna work in a hospital or specialized pharmacy as well so I hope this all works out for us! I’ll let you know if I have any more questions
