(Originally posted in MLC sub) I am a local New Yorker who loves his cricket. I am happy that there is a push to get cricket into the mainstream US crowd. However, I feel that the fans of the US are being treated as second to the South Asian market. if cricket is to thrive in the USA, it has to come without the influence of South Asia because they care more about the money from back home rather than making fans in the USA getting into cricket. Like what in the world does “Mumbai Indians New York“ mean? I know that South Asian money is highly beneficial to run this league but I’d rather have no league and all those billionare owners with questionabke intentions gone. If we really wanna develop US cricketers, it’s much better to try to feed them into the English domestic system, or even join forces with the West Indian domestic system. I know that these domestic systems aren’t as popular as the leagues, but you don’t need to tell the general American population that. Cricket is cricket, no matter what jersey they wear.
