⭐CHALLENGE⭐ This is the Final Week to Submit Your Photos!

This is it! We've now arrived at the final week of summer, and this is your last chance to submit your photos for our Crochet in the Wild Summer Edition Photo Challenge!

If you're new to our community, we've been asking people to take a photo (or photos) of their crochet WIPs (Works in Progress) or FOs (Finished Objects) against a distinctly British Columbian backdrop, and then create a new post on r/CrochetBC, selecting the Crochet in the Wild 🌲 post flair so everyone can easily browse the entries.

In the post title or comments, let us know roughly where you are stitching... on the ferry to Nanaimo, hanging with friends and crocheting in Stanley Park, at a coffee shop in Prince Rupert, or in your back yard in Grand Forks - as long as it was taken somewhere in British Columbia!

The single highest-upvoted photo by midnight on August 31, 2026, will be crowned the winner. We will pin the post to the top of this subreddit for a full week and the winner will receive a permanent, exclusive user flair: 🌲 Wild Stitch Master 🌲

We will also compile the top 5 photos into a special r/CrochetBC banner collage!

You can enter as many times as you like with different projects and locations, but all submissions must be posted by midnight on August 31, 2026.

Please don't be shy! We are a very warm and welcoming community and we support all crocheters, from beginners to advanced. Be proud and share your work! :)

Yarn Shop/Local Business I will admit that I have shopped at Michaels a lot for yarn and crochet products and previously never heard of DeSerres. Apparently we have a DeSerres here in BC in Vancouver! Have you shopped there? What's it like?

Local Group/Meetup I hosted a craft meet up for the first time

Hi everyone! I just stumbled across this page today and wish I knew earlier!

I hosted for the first time a casual & social craft meet up at a park locally in Coquitlam over the weekend.

Only 4 people showed up as I advertised it on a private group so it makes it difficult to host indoors where you require a specific number.. I made it open for any types of craft as I crochet & knit.

I’m open to hosting again at a different location and at a different park, but with summer ending very soon. I wish there were more options outside of libraries for indoor craft meet ups that are free or open for all.

A lot of the crochet meet up groups only meet on weekdays that I could find, so that was the main reason why I attempted to host an event on a Sunday afternoon.

If anyone knows what better locations would work for the fall/winter season (cafes, libraries/rooms that don’t require a booking)?

Help/Question Enormous pattern stash with lots of crochet. What to do with it?

Almost all vintage. Mostly 50s and 60s including several issues of a 50s era Crochet magazine. Lots of neat patterns for clothes to crochet, especially pre-hippie era 60s. I made a lot of them when I was younger but they don't suit my style now. I'm in North Vancouver. I don't know if anyone here is interested in vintage patterns but I thought I'd see if someone wanted to take them before I drop off at a thrift store somewhere.

Help/Question Have you used Scheepjes Catona yarn? If yes, what do you think of it?

I currently use Patons Astra for most of my amigurumi projects, but I’ve seen some beautiful projects made with Scheepjes Catona mercerised cotton. It looks like it might produce a smoother, more polished finish, and the price seems comparable to Astra. If you've used Catona, how did you like working with it? Also, wondering what is the best place to order it in BC (or elsewhere in Canada).

Crochet in the Wild 🌲 Just a lil' sea turtle hangin' out at Iona Beach Regional Park

Had a lovely evening out with my hubby tonight to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary. After trying hot pot for the first time (it was GREAT btw!), we went for a stroll at Iona Beach Regional Park with some of my crocheted friends for a fun photo shoot. Here's one of my recent FO's. Also, just a friendly reminder that the Crochet in the Wild photo contest is still on until midnight, August 31, 2025! That means that you still have 22 days, 3 hours, 11 minutes to take any/all of your FO's outside and take a picture (or two, or three...) and post them here with the proper flair. BTW, it doesn't have to be something you made recently. Have a favourite summer crocheted outfit/top/cover-up that you made? We'd love to see it! Contest details can be found HERE.

Yarny Laughs I got 16 points. How about you? Let's face it, crochet is a gateway craft that leads to yarn addiction!

Help/Question where to sell in BC

hey guys! im a student and really would love to make crochet a side hustle but ive had no luck in finding places to vend that dont require me to have a million dollar insurance contract, licence, or pay $200 for one day.

i understand that i would need to pay a large sum to the venue for the good costumers but im just starting out and so i have no funds and flea markets havent been giving me nearly as much as i need for the effort i put into it

any help or suggestions would be so very appreciated!!
