Injury Question Blister help

Hello, so I have been getting bad blisters from my XC “cleats” (if I use the correct word it will not let me post this so bear with me) I used them in outdoor track, so they are broken in, but every time I wear them they hurt my heels and tear at the skin. If I wear them with bandaids it’s usually manageable, but I forgot before my meet and they tore up my heels (I was bleeding after a 5k). I was wondering if anyone had advice on what I could put on my heels to pad them because they are new enough that I’d like to not get new ones, but I feel like I might not have a choice. What has worked for you guys?

TLDR:What to put on the back of my heels to avoid bad blisters?

Molefoam works a bit better than band-aids for me

Are you wearing socks with them?

You need to avoid friction. If you already have a blister try a blister bandaid and then put something over that. For example, some KT tape, Athletic tape (do vertical and horizontal strips), or in a super pinch duct tape (ouch to take off!) The goal is to cushion the blister and keep friction away from the area. If you don’t already have a blister- basically the same but you don’t need anything under the friction barrier.

Since I started eating more eggs and meat, my chafing and blisters have completely disappeared. Protection is all well and good, but properly nourished skin is probably the most important thing!

May I suggest a separate cleat for XC? And break them in for a couple of months

My track ones are made specifically for XC, that’s why I use the same pair

Might want to go and get fitted too and try on some different pairs to see what fits well. Also try a runners loop that might help keep down on any heel slippage

Thanks, I’ll be more careful getting my next pair, still trying to make these one work though
