Discussion Strategy bought $370M BTC while BitMine bought $130M ETH. Different bets?

Just saw this post on CoinMarketCap ( https://coinmarketcap.com/community/post/378949366 ) about Strategy dropping $369M into BTC and BitMine dropping $131M into ETH.

It feels like they’re playing totally different games now. Strategy is just stacking BTC as pure digital scarcity, while BitMine seems to be going after ETH's staking yield and DeFi ecosystem.

Both are using share issuance to pump their treasury flywheels, but dilution could bite them if prices drop.

Do you guys think ETH's yield play is actually smarter long term than Saylor's pure BTC strategy?

12000$ locked on kraken, then charged 100$ to get my own money back

I'm sharing my worst experience with kraken so far, and I'm looking for a new exchange.

I opened my kraken account around 1-2 weeks ago, completed the kyc, completed the AML form, deposited money from a bank account (under my own name), converted part of it to ETH and then made a few trades.

A few days later I deposited more money (again from the same bank account), bought the assets I wanted and then started withdrawing to my cold wallet.

The first withdrawal went through without issue, the second one (it was to the same ethereum address) was suddenly blocked without any reason. I then received an email saying they would contact me "as soon as possible", then, obviously, nothing.

For 7 days, despite opening a ticket and contacting kraken through social media (where my post on krakensupport was even removed) I received no useful or substantive information about either the reason for the restriction or how long the review could take. The only thing support said and repeated was "a specialist will contact you as soon as possible", yet nobody did. Meanwhile the app was showing an estimated specialist response time of around 9 minutes.

This morning kraken finally contacted me (after 8 days), not to resolve the problem but to tell me that my account is being closed without any meaningful reason. I was given 10 days to withdraw the remaining funds, except crypto withdrawals were no longer available, the only option offered was withdrawing fiat back to my bank account. That means I was forced to sell the crypto I had purchased, but the best part comes now, kraken converter charges 1% to convert from crypto to fiat, so I basically lost 100$ on top of the trading costs and losses associated with closing the position.

If you're using kraken mainly to buy crypto and move it into self-custody, be aware that this can happen even after a previous withdrawal to the same wallet has already been completed successfully.

p.s. There was nothing unusual about the source of funds.

- KYC had been completed

- The AML/source-of-funds form and various questions had been completed

- All fiat deposits came by bank transfer (SEPA) from my own bank, under my own name, the same used to create and complete kyc on kraken

- Source of funds verifiable

- The ethereum adddress was my own wallet where kraken had already successfully processed a withdrawal (they saved that address too and they made me verify the wallet to ensure it was mine)

- The existing funds on that wallet were traceable to platforms such as bybit and revolut ramp, with ordinary swaps performed over time. I never used mixers nor services intended to obscure transaction history

TECHNICALS The $130 Million Cold Storage Illusion: What Hardware Wallet Breaches Teach Us About True Sovereign Bitcoin Custody.

You think your Bitcoin is safe just because your hardware wallet is offline.

$130 million was recently drained from cold storage to prove that assumption wrong.

The brutal truth: a $150 piece of plastic doesn't make you invulnerable. If you secure your wealth with a single 24-word seed phrase, you haven't eliminated your single point of failure — you just moved it.

Attackers aren’t hacking the blockchain anymore. They are exploiting blind signing, compromised supply chains, and physical vulnerabilities.

The era of naive self-custody is over. It's time to build a multi-sig fortress.

Are you still relying on a single device, or have you upgraded your OpSec?

TECHNICALS A month running a single-coin momentum rotator on Coinbase Agentic: every fill, and why fees are the real constraint

I've been running a set of autonomous agents on a live Coinbase account for a month. One of them is a pure momentum rotator and I want to put its actual fills up, because the fee math on this style of strategy is worse than people assume and nobody posts it.

The mechanic: hold exactly one coin at a time, whichever of 10 liquid cryptos ranks highest on a momentum, volume and volatility composite. Re-check daily, rotate when the ranking changes. No diversification by construction, no hedging, no stop.

Four rotations all month:

  • Held LINK, out Jul 30 at $8.46 (in at $8.37). +1.1%
  • ADA at $0.1704, out Aug 8 at $0.199. +16.8%
  • LINK at $8.30, out Aug 18 at $9.50. +12.3%
  • ETH at $1,912, out Aug 22 at $2,423. +26.7% over four days
  • SOL at $93.87, still open

Ended +77.9% for the month on my account since I changed my allocation. 101.1% for most other users. Four for four on completed legs. One leg, the ETH one, is most of the return. Take it out and this isn't as impressive.

The part these posts usually leave out: Coinbase took $18.91 in fees. The +77.9% is already including it. If you're building anything that rotates, model the fee before you model the signal. I've seen a lot of rotation backtests that are gross of fees and would be flat or negative net.

Caveats

  • Real Coinbase fills with real timestamps. Not a backtest, not paper trading.
  • One month, one account, one strategy. Nothing here is statistically meaningful and I'm not presenting it as such.
  • Concentrated single-asset momentum works beautifully in a trending month and gets destroyed in a chop. August trended.

Happy to answer questions on the ranking logic or the execution side.

If you want to try it yourself, raijin.trade/r/bob gives you $20 when you sign up and I get $20 too, so treat that as the plug it is.

Historical Data

Hello,

Anyone knows some good crypto historical tick data providers? (perps or spot with bid/ask) I preferable dont want to spend money on the website I might find unreliable so maybe with free trial or something.

If anyone knows some just leave a small comment, thank you.

TOOL Experimenting with a simpler way to launch Solana tokens

I’ve been experimenting with a small Solana token-launch project and I’m trying to understand what actually matters to traders versus what builders assume matters.

It’s at money.rcal.me if anyone wants to test it. Curious what you’d change, especially anything that would make you immediately trust or distrust a new launch platform.
