Stolen Bicycles

Is there concensus to have a r/cyclePDXstolen sub Redit with the recent volume of theft? It would highlight stolen bikes in Portand, Oregon. Constructive criticisms welcomed.

Aventon Aventure 3 Serial D36C4833

First time visiting this area to ride out the next day with some folks for a camping trip. Was going to be my first time riding outdoors for any significant amount of time

Also chained together with it was my Ozark Trail Ridge with a lot of yellow Bridges (death stranding) stickers all over it

If I rode into the area during daylight, I probably would of had a better idea of what my risk level was...

Bikes stolen from Moda

Post image
138 Upvotes

We were walking back to Moda around 730pm after grabbing a post- Fire game dinner and saw sparks flying from a bike rack across from the VIP entrance (between Moda and Rebound). Got closer and a man had clearly cut locks and was walking two bikes away. Security came out but he was far enough away.

In hindsight, I should have yelled but was so stunned that I just watched it all happen. If they were your bikes, I’m sorry. I promise to be a better disrupter in the future.

Went to Sauvie and Forest Park and stopped for a liter at Prost on the way home. Some pretty solid downed trees on the way down from Firelane 12. There was another one there a couple weeks back that's been cleared out, guess more carnage happened somehow haha. Still one of my favorite trails in Forest Park hands down!

SE Portland / Montavilla – Anyone want to form a weekday Costco errand squad? 🚲🌭

Hey everyone!

I’m based in Montavilla and looking to connect with some neighborly cyclists in Southeast for daytime errand rides.

I am pretty new to cycling and ride an eBullitt cargo bike. I’m hoping to start a little community of people who want to haul groceries and run errands together.

Where: Ride from SE Portland/Montavilla to the Clackamas Costco.

When: Weekdays during the school day. Ideally meeting up right after school drop-off around 9:00 AM.

The Reward: Grab a Costco hot dog (or slice of pizza) together before we haul our cargo back!

Who this is for: Anyone free during the school day! You don't have to be a parent, though the timing is perfect if you have school-aged kids. All bikes and paces are welcome.

If you want to turn a boring grocery run into a fun community hangout, drop a comment or send me a DM. Let's figure out a day that works!

Costco PDX and bicycles

So l'm in Portland, Oregon. This is one of our Costcos in the area. Two long bike racks and a bike locker. The convenience of the bicycle culture of the PNW in car dominated America. Just annoyed with motorcyclists who park here because they don't want to park in the parking lot

Coast campsites?

Ok, so it’s not strictly speaking Portland, but hear me out.

I’m volunteering with HtC tomorrow night halfway to the coast, riding this year instead of sitting in race traffic for hours. Figured I’d ride on the coast and camp Saturday night.

The internet claims there is abundant and available hike/bike camping in otherwise very full state park campgrounds.

Kind of having trouble pinning down specifics. Some sources say reservations can be made 24 hours in advance. Others say only fcfs.

I don’t really want to ride 100 miles on minimal sleep and then spend hours looking for a place I can legally hang a hammock for a few hours.

Anyone have experience with this?

There’s not a lot of details available, but we’ve lost another of our own. Sad day, man. My thoughts are with her family, and all of us who have too many close calls with cars and the people who drive them.

Bike v bike right of way at this crosswalk?

Post image
12 Upvotes

I was northbound here as shown, this morning at ~6:30. (This is SE 17th Ave a little north of the intersection with Haig.) A rider on the sidewalk to the right here, southbound, came up to the mouth of the crosswalk. He slapped the crosswalk-lights button with remarkably little slowdown, turned west to follow the crosswalk, and darted in front of me forcing me to grab a big handful of brake as I yelped out "whoa!"

I gladly would have yielded to a pedestrian here, but wasn't anticipating another cyclist acting in sort of a pedestrian mode (but certainly not pedestrian speed) would expect similar. Yes I grasp that the designated bike treatment jogs eastward onto sidewalk and crosses the tracks there a different way, but I don't think one's forced to do that? Not at 6:30am with the road nearly empty at any rate.

Am a very experienced urban rider though little in PDX; short visit to town now. Was on a Biketown e bike if that matters.

Aita?

Hi everyone, my bike was stolen sometime between 8/23/26 @ 3:15 pm and 8/24/26 @ 8:15 am. I believe the garage lock may have been loose which is how they got in, or defeated that lock somehow. Listed on bike index and project 529.

My bike was stolen last night outside of Sandy Loft Apartments between 9 and 11 PM, I removed the guard that protects the chain, and the screen has an upper left scratch. The serial number is visible above the front light 2406010087

Now you know about the Starway to nowhere. I watched this crypt getting built, well at least the foundation. But man, this is crazy. The stars and door are fake. The second pic shows the wall. The monogram is everywhere too. I wonder how many people would fit in 3 or 4? It’s all polished stone too. I wonder if it is in use yet?

8/23: Our last bike ride for Calendula of Bike Summer!

Post image
7 Upvotes

Bitter sweet that it third and final ride with Pedalpalooza is this Sunday! It's our 3rd bike ride to promote organ donation and Children's Oregon Transplant Association in honor of my toddler Calendula.

For this ride, we'll be starting at Mount Tabor playground and biking down to Colonel Summers Park where there is a splash pad. 🚲💦

You may remember I did a ride in June and July as well, I'll be posting a link to a video I made from our second ride in the comments! I really hope to see some of y'all there and you can help just by sharing.

Bike summer is ending, but or outreach for organ donation and COTA in honor of Calendula will continue! You can be on the lookout for more rides and storytimes at parks and elsewhere outside soon if you follow or linktree or substack or tiktok. We're focusing on outdoor events to keep them more immune safe for people who are immune vulnerable like my toddler. 🚲🌼🎶🐦‍⬛✨🫀

EB bridge closed

I was riding down 7th on my way to work this morning and found the bridge closed. I ride over it every morning on my commute and there hasn't been any signage about it getting closed.

Anyone know why or for how long?

Big shout out to whomever (I'm assuming pbot) cleared the sidewalk where the grass and shrubbery had been growing over the path on the east side and all of the blackberries and random shit on the west side. It seems it was even washed. Nary a shard of glass this morning! Twas beautiful and I even screamed in joy as I bombed down the westside in the early morning light.
