DQB2 Question Curious...

Does anyone know the locations of each of the special treasure chests in each story required area? I want to be able to get anything missable from Skelkatraz and Malhalla. I ask cuz I found a Seed of Life chest on Furrowfield I had no idea existed in the 6 years I've played this game. Been taking my time and haven't yet gone to Krumbul-Dun on my most recent run. Maps for the chests would help.

Theres 3 seeds of life on each of the 3 main story islands (which you can return to anytime), none on skelkatraz (the only thing worth stealing there are the guillotines, since they're used for a room recipe and otherwise only a rare drop from Archdemon. Go back to the role call platform after retrieving your stuff to break them. Also the Evil Idols near The Hole which can be broken with a Wrecking Ball since the Ultimallet is inaccessible to break them 'normally' before that), and exactly 1 on the final story island you cant return to, but its in a chest in the cathedral the story requires you to visit for materials, so the chance of you missing it is all but 0).

Anything more specific can be looked up in one of over a dozen guides online, but TBH most of the fun is just exploring and finding them for yourself.

There's another chest by the skeleton soldiers in a cave that has an yggdrasil leaf

yes, but those can rather easily be farmed off the Furrowfiled Orc King (especially with bramble placed around the area - later upgradable to spike traps when coming back after the 3rd story island). Its not really a unique or fully 'missable' item, just an extra place to get one.

Make sure to check the pot in your old cell while in Mahalla.

In Skelkatraz, you can nab the guillotine. It's much faster to do that than farm the archdemons later in the islands.

On skulkatraz there's 2 chests with a weapon in it for malroth, makes a specific fight easier if you have him equipped with one, no biggie if you don't though. there's also a whole buncha stuff way off to the east of the isle which you can get to once you get your windbreaker back (and stack up enough blocks to glide the whole way).

You can also grab a free key from the guard by using the 1st on that cell instead of the lock you're supposed to use it on. That enables you to take home the key you get the other chest normally protected by a guard.

There's also a whole buncha stuff in the center of the main area you wake up in to nab before you skiddadle. As for malhalla I recall at least one chest with a seed in it by the eyeballs, then another chest in the "space between dimensions", a thundersword in a pot on the other side of said space and naturally all the stuff on the old temple or whatever that you find I think it was helga in.

You should also nab the forges before the 1st fight and make at few spare workbenches and alters to carry out of malhalla with you. I don't recall if they appear in the builder's workbench without dragging some along with you but they're cheaper to make when they're not upgraded after all. Just make sure to let them upgrade before you dive into the final fight.

Edit: Also there was the tree stump in the backyard of the citadel to grab and a freebie hargon's throne beneath where you were supposed to land for the game to lock you out of using the buggy buggy until later. Just park up in front of the door instead, nab the throne and doors, skiddale down to the backyard, nab the stump, then drive the buggy buggy through the black holes that were supposed to block you getting to the stump XD

Oh and nab the bench malroth uses in to make the medicinal herb

At Skelkatraz you can and should grab the Guillotine from the gallows in Skelkatraz's main yard, as the Archdemon at Laguna Perfuma is an annoying superstrong to fight in shallow water. bore530 says you can get an extra key and those are limited in game but I've not tested that myself. There's a pair of chests containing Malroth's items (one in the Hole and another in the lumber yard) which look like leftovers from when Skelkatraz was going to have a bit more going on - they don't have anything new or rare though. Skelkatraz doesn't really have anything new you'd absolutely miss though.

Malhalla has the Thunderbolt Blade in the pot within the cell aboard the wrecked ship - you can also get this from Hargonauts on post-game Explorer Shores but at a terribly low drop rate. There are three Yggdrasil Leaves spread across the island (cave west of the Skeleton Crew's location, small island in southern Eyeball lake, and within the ghost's cave in the Lightless Void.) There is a seed of A Seed of Life in the Court of Chaos's treasure vault but by this point in game Seeds of Life aren't critical.

Malhallha has two true missibles though:

  1. The last chapter of the legendary builder's log in a book in the plasma pool in same Court of Chaos treasure vault room as the Seed of Life. If you don't read it here you can't come back to read it post-game (barring game hacks)

  2. You can also acquire the Buggy Buggy as an item if you dig out some of the cave and park the Buggy Buggy exactly where the Shadow Hood will spawn, as the Shadow Hood's entrance explosion is capable of decomposing special items. (This may take some save and reloads to identify the proper parking position.) You can then collect the itemized Buggy Buggy and jump off the edge of the world to be warped back to the Ark with both the item in inventory and a new Buggy Buggy automatically respawned in the garage. This exploit in combination with stow-and-place duplication exploit on Switch or Playstation allows for any of the three iterations of the Buggy Buggy to be flown to Hargon's Fortress and returned to Isle of Awakening. (I.e., it is possible to return to IoA with the basic or mid-level Buggy Buggy.)

Ive heard benxc has apparently some misinformation in some of their videos but they are reliable with their videos on locating hidden chests and items
