General Question Game Save File Transfer

Hello I was wondering if I can transfer my game save file from PS5 to NS2? I decided to start a new game in NS2 and it’s been working flawlessly until the point where I was forced to travel to a different island because the Children of Hargon are attacking at the Isle of Awakening. My Switch 2 ran out of battery while the game was saving when moving to a different island and I thought nothing of it.

When I got back home it says save file is corrupted and I have to start from the beginning. Now I was wondering if I can just transfer my save file from PS5 to switch because I don’t want to start all over again from nothing.

I prefer playing on the switch because of its portability and it’s supposed to be a relaxing game for me but now I’m just stressed from losing all those hours.

Unfortunately no, there is no cross-console save transfer feature. (Outside of stuff like system transfer, but that's for when you buy a new console) There's some unofficial tinkering tools available for PC and modded Switch 1 I think, but not PS5 or Switch 2 afaik.

But yeah, when the game warns you not to turn off the game while it is saving, it means it.

I have not messed with NSO, do you have NSO, and does Builders have cloud backups?

Thanks for the reply,

It does have NSO but there’s no option to download backed up save data. I can’t press the two options, anyways I was able to continue from demo so I’m back to level 10 before I fight the big baboon. I was already at skeletraz before my save file got corrupted. Maybe lost about 30hours of gameplay.

Can't download because it already uploaded your corrupt copy or your new replay save and its aware the two copies are identical (both 6:20pm) so no new download is needed. NSO only keeps one copy of backup and its quick to replace it on its own.

Change your backup option for this game from Automatic to Manual and do a period manual backup (maybe after each major island arc) to avoid having any corrupted save uploaded. This way if it does get corrupted, you can close game, download from NSO and resume with less loss.

No way sadly, only posible thing is transferring from a modded PS4 or Switch to PC and vice versa

No, not even with external tools. Playstation saves are encrypted at user level. To my knoweldge, not even modded Playstations can crack this - its my understanding you need a Playstation dev kit to decrypt save files.

Between Switch, PC, and Xbox, its a lot more possible as these systems to not encrypt save files, but they still might not work properly.

Regardless of system you need to make a backup of save file as they are too easily corruupted. For PC this is a trivial file copy. For Playstation and Xbox this would be to USB. Switch is the most limited and manual NSO cloud backup is your best option on unmodded hardware. (Don't use automatic as it risks overwriting cloud copy with corrupted local copy.)
