DTU This is not Delhi Technical University

I get that when posting you can sometimes choose the wrong sub, but please look at the logo or the name in the bio before posting.

There are so many posts about Delhi, that I believe it subtracts from those who are actually discussing or seeking information about DTU. I see it atleast a couple of times each week. Please do due diligence :)

Looking for a piano teacher/school

As an absolute beginner (I don’t either own a keyboard nor remember any music classes from school) I would really like to learn how to take piano lessons.

Do you know of any good (possibly cheap) teacher or school close the campus, for example in Lyngby? Or maybe you know who to ask for this… Any suggestion would help!

DTU Padel Clubs Around DTU

Hi,

I am on exchange at DTU and saw that they don't have a padel club. Has anyone got any recommendations of nearby clubs? I'm just looking for clubs that run casual sessions where you can show up and play.

Thanks

DTU How much does exact module choice (e.g. Statistical Design of Experiments) actually matter for biotech job applications vs. just having the MSc Eng Biotechnology (DTU) + doing well in interviews?

Currently doing my MSc in Biotechnology at DTU and trying to figure out how much weight to put on specific elective choices when planning my course schedule.

Concretely: I'm choosing between courses like Statistics/Design of Experiments (DoE) and Purification and Recovery from Biological Products, and I'm wondering how much this actually matters later on.

Is it realistic that recruiters/hiring managers care whether you have a specific module like "Statistical Design of Experiments" literally listed on your transcript? Or does it mostly come down to:

  • having the degree itself (MSc Eng Biotechnology from DTU) as the main filter to even get considered,
  • broad enough applications that you're not relying on one specific course lining up with one specific job posting,
  • and then what you actually demonstrate in the interview (can you explain DoE, walk through a project, etc.) regardless of whether it was a formal course or something you picked up during an internship/self-study?

Curious whether people who've actually gone through biotech/pharma hiring (Novo Nordisk, Novozymes, etc. or elsewhere) have seen ATS systems or recruiters actually filter by specific course names, or whether it's really more about the overall degree + practical experience + how you present yourself. Would love to hear real experiences, especially from people in process development, downstream processing, or data/statistics-adjacent roles in biotech/pharma.

URGENT HELP NEEDED — INJURED DOG NEAR ADMIN BLOCK / BR AUDITORIUM

I found a stray dog near the Admin Block, close to BR Auditorium who appears to have a serious injury around his private parts. He looks extremely stressed and seems to be in a lot of pain. He is also struggling to stand/walk properly.

I’m really worried that he needs urgent veterinary treatment.

📍 Location: Near Admin Block, close to BR Auditorium
🐕 Condition: Severe pain, stressed, difficulty standing/walking, injury around private area

Can anyone nearby help rescue him or arrange a vet/animal ambulance? If you know a local animal rescuer, NGO, or veterinarian who can reach him quickly, please comment or DM me.

Please share this so someone nearby can help him ASAP. 🙏

Hi there! I am an exchange student and have just started the semester at DTU. I was wondering if there are any groups / clubs that does leisure sports such as football (non-training, non-competitive) for a chill match / kickabout or even a run club in Lyngby or Copenhagen.

I am open to trying out different sports and looking to make new friends!

If there are any Facebook / Whatsapp group for it do share as well.

Thanks in advance!

Experience with 02464 (AI and Human Cognition)?

Anyone took this course - and if so, did you enjoy it? And how much does the two group projects take from your capacity?

I'm considering taking the course, but I have a lot of other group heavy courses this semester, which is the only thing causing me to reconsider whether or not to take this course in this semester - it's a really interesting course it seems, but too many group heavy courses in parallel can in my experience sometimes be stressful.

MSc admission from Italy (GPA ~27/30) — how does DTU/CBS actually weigh grades vs. everything else?

I’m applying to master’s programs in Denmark (specifically looking at DTU – Industrial Engineering and Management for february) coming from an Italian bachelor’s with an average grade around 27/30.

I’d love to hear from anyone who applied with a similar profile:

1) How did the admissions committee seem to weigh your GPA vs. everything else?

2) Does internships matter more than the overall average?

3) Did the cover letters make a real difference?

4) Any Italian applicants specifically, did you feel your GPA translated fairly, or did the conversion hurt/help you?

Thank you for the help!!!

Thanks!

Job interview within DTU

I got a reply for an interview for a part-time job in a lab at DTU. Does anyone know what they might ask me or some useful tips? How should I be prepared? I.e. are they going to ask about my thesis, internship and how my qualifications are relevant to the job?

DTU I built an app for apartment / housing

Hi everyone!

First of all, welcome to everyone new at DTU! Finding a place to live can be really difficult, so I hope this can make the search a little easier.

As a hobby project, I’ve made an app where you can set your own simple housing filters, such as area, maximum rent, size, and number of rooms, and get notified when a matching home becomes available.

I was looking for an apartment myself and wanted a simple way to see new rental listings without having to search through the same housing websites over and over again. That’s why I started developing the app.

I actually found my own apartment through the first version, and I thought it might be useful for other people looking for housing as well.

It’s called BoligAlert. It’s free to download and you can find it here:
iPhone:

https://apps.apple.com/dk/app/boligalert/id6764876905?l=da

I’d love to get some honest feedback on the idea and the app

Course registration rejected in supplementary period

Hi all,
I’m trying to switch from a course I’m currently enrolled in (41733 Metallurgy) to 41525 Finite Element Methods for this semester. I registered during the supplementary period, but my registration for 41525 shows as “rejected.”
The exact message I get is:
“Your course registration is rejected. When the regular registration period ends, we will review all rejected registrations to get them approved. If your registration is still rejected 6 working days after the registration deadline ends, you are welcome to contact the Study Administration at studadm@adm.dtu.dk or by phone 4525 7300 (Kode:20)”

A few things that confuse me:
• 41525 isn’t on the official list of closed/oversubscribed courses for this period
• There’s no mandatory prerequisite listed for it

Has anyone dealt with something similar? Any idea what usually causes a “rejected” status when there’s no prerequisite or capacity issue? I have emailed the study administration but since classes start next week I don’t know if they will answer me before classes start do you think I should email the responsible professor ?
Trying to figure out if this is just a processing backlog or something I need to fix on my end.
Any insight from people who’ve been through this would be really appreciated!

Urgent housing needed!!

Hi, I’m an exchange student and I’m urgently searching por accommodation near lyngby, since I will start my 7th semester at DTU next week.

Does anybody know about a safe place or have any available room? Preferably women!
Thanks :)

Edited:

I’m 20 years old and female, living abroad for the first time. I’m clean, and tidy, and eager to make friends!

I’d like to live with a woman around my age.

I’m studying data science and mathematics and came to Denmark only for this semester.

I’m very respectful of other people’s places ☺️

Questions about lab exercises in DTU 02138 Digital Electronics 1

Been planning to take 02138 Digital Electronics 1 in the upcoming semester.

But now I also got offered a TA role which will require my presence at the same time as the 02138 exercise/lab sessions (Friday 10-12).

So to anyone here who has taken 02138:

  • Are the 'lab sessions' pure software exercises (e.g. VHDL) that I can just do from my computer at home as long as I have good communication with my group and let them know? Or is there hardware stuff that would make this... hard?
  • Is it generally doable to just do all of the exercises on your own time as long as your group is okay with it?

I'm aware that there are mandatory lab reports and whatnot. But if all of the material and tools are available from home and I talk to my group and still contribute, it should be fine, I think.

Online shopping and grocery

People who live by themselves, don't you guys buy things online? From my perspective, online malls should be cheaper. If you do, please share the online mall that you usually use, especially for groceries and living necessities.

Confirmation on course acceptance?

Hey,

Only 3 out of 6 of my courses in Canvas have showed up. Is this normal?

Have not received any message of not getting accepted. Does that mean I got accepted to all??
