Saw a few movies in IMAX (Oppenheimer, Dunkirk, Star Wars (the last one), Top Gun Maverick ) and honestly, it did not blow me away. It's a big screen, that's about it. There is a cinema in my country with top tier Dolby Atmos sound and that was much, much better.
That’s fair. For me, besides the fact that 70mm IMAX is the highest resolution cinematic format, there’s something about the tangibility of the film print, hearing it flicker as the movie is projected, alongside the detail of the image quality that I just can’t get enough of. I also enjoy seeing films digitally projected, but the level of tangibility and texture that comes with film projection just feels magical and directly linked to the illusionary spirit of cinema history (i.e., Phantasmagoria, Zoetropes, etc.)
