“Hey, YouTube! Today we’re unboxing the Statue of Liberty! I had it expedited from France because I’ve been pumped to check it out. Oh sweet, they have a shirt in here as a bonus! It says ‘I survived my trip to NYC!’ Haha awesome!…”

Rightfully so. But then again, she is French, so it wouldn’t take much to disappoint her.

The creator left an “Easter egg” for people to find. Go look at the painting “Satan Summoning His Legions” a famous artwork (huge oil painting) from 1797. The guy that designed the Statue of Liberty actually designed it after this painting. You can see the likeness for yourself just compare the faces and the positioning of the figure within the painting to the Statue.

OMG, this is so unsettling. Why didn't I ever know about this? Thanks, informed stranger.

When I went to the Statue of Liberty a couple of months ago to show around some relatives, the tour guide himself pointed this out. Once you see it you can’t unsee it.
It’s basically a massive century long troll by the creator of the sculpture itself. People have a weird sense of humor, and even people back then would have “Easter Eggs” in their artwork and sculptures.
It also makes perfect sense. It’s the same face. The guy could’ve picked any other face and any other configuration for the expression and features but he directly picked that one.

I’m pretty sure that’s a myth and just a coincidence. Sorry to be a buzzkill, but in the interest of accuracy. That’s not actually a thing.

I just googled it myself and the only thing that came up were links to debunking the claim, so yeah, sounds like a coincidence.

literally the deal. as the other top comment says... this is lady liberty pissed off at us for our piss poor showing of what we got. we need to take all of our shit and put it in a bag. and then all our shit will be together. we should all get our shit together very very soon.
(ETA the fundamental issue with this entire situation, yet again, is that America was already great, the melting pot is great, immigration is the answer to climate change and our declining birth rate, it is what has made us stronger over the years, kinda what the point of the statue of liberty has been from the start. the USA has never been perfect, it's always been flawed and a work in progress, but there have been many times over the past several hundred years when we ALL realized that our diversity was our strength, time to relearn. )

The frame that supports the copper plates was bolted to the crate supports.

Ditto. Ive never crated a sculpture this large, nonetheless a component this large. Makes you curious how delicate it must be for them to choose to pack it hanging rather than laying down on its open back.

Actually it was. The problem is they didn’t think we’d put it on an island, so when French soldiers came out of it to take the US, they were stuck. They had to pretend they were just tourists and escaped on a ferry.

This is the best representation of my general attitude about being an American in 2026.
Those Frenchmen nailed the modern American spirit about 141 years ahead of the game

The giant copper head of the Statue of Liberty being displayed in Paris around 1878 before it was shipped to America. Visitors could view the massive head at the 1878 Paris World's Fair to help raise money for the project.

The public has always been easily swayed by iconography and mythology, and we Americans are no exception.
