Despite looking like some alien creature, this is Enypniastes eximia, a deep sea sea cucumber. It can swim through the water column using fin like structures and has been recorded at depths of more than 18,900 ft It’s also known as the headless chicken monster or Spanish dancer because of its bizarre appearance.

I almost didn’t click on this because based on the headless chicken description I thought I would be horrified. Decided to take my chances and glad I did, this is really cool looking.

Its apparently a sea cucumber so probably salty and a bit bitter if not cleaned well.

Probably its extremely chewy texture is going to be the primary sensory experience while eating, not the taste. Never had this specific headless chicken type before though
