DDM4V7 vs V7 pro

hey guys i'm stuck between choosing between the v7 and the pro model. this is my first AR and my only use for this gun will be for gun range medium range at 100 yards and even some longer distance up to 600 yards. i know the main differences between the two but i wonder if the weight of the pro would make me choose the regular v7. i currently have a deposit on the v7.

any input is appreciated

The v7 is most likely going to fit the bill for you best. the pro would make an excellent DMR but save the couple inches of barrel length and put a can on v7 and have a great general purpose rifle. as for shooting out to 600yards yeah you can do it but your just past what the max effect range is on either rifle. The army puts the maximum effective range of an m16(20" barrel) at 550m which is basically 600yards give or take a couple yards. you drop to an 18 or down to a 16 inch your looking at a max effective range of closer to 500m or about 550 yards. Now you can do that totally and you can by match ammo and what not to make it easier but why? Just switch to a 308 at that point. 556 shines out to about 300

I'd go pro because I have it. The weight isn't bad at all.

I went Pro for my first do all AR -15. I put an lpvo, atlas bipod, and RC2 on it. Needless to say it’s kind of heavy and too long now (that’s what she said). It’s a great accurate rifle, but I’m gonna switch it out to a 14.5 and p/w a plan B muzzle device so I can run a shorter and lighter can.

The trigger is the main factor for me. It’s very light and is considered a competition trigger. I got the Pro because I wanted that paint job. The rattle can looks great. And you can replace the trigger anytime you want. I paid $1900 for mine. Don’t pay full price.

I guess if you're already dead set on dd it kind of is what it is at this point, but if it's your first AR, I'd consider one that might be a little more budget minded at first. Run it for a while and learn the platform and then when you learn you love it, buy the Geissele or maybe DD and you will appreciate the quality that much more. That being said maybe you're a buy once cry once person and that's fine, but also consider Tacswap or Armslist and get a good deal on a used rifle (best way to buy guns you save so much money) and run that, and turn around and sell it if you are really dead set on a more premium rifle.
