Crosspost Join us this Friday at 5 PM to clean-up trash around the Astoria park tennis courts!
r/DeTrashed • u/GoshlynnGacha3004 • 1d ago
Original Content 680 items picked up today. Total litter pickup count since 06/08/2025: 18,938 items. Since my trash bin at home was already getting full and garbage days are on Fridays, I filled a large plastic bin and emptied it twice into a large trash can next to the grocery store parking lot.

Discussion how to sharpen my trash picker?
I have this trash picker and I'm looking for advice on how to sharpen it. Would prefer a small tool that's not very expensive.

Shame on you, Noah R!
I had a dream about my beloved cat, Shy Ronnie, who died in January, so I was in a sad mood on my trashwalk today.
Between Noah’s litter and the beautiful, but dead red-spotted admiral butterfly, at first I felt worse. But after a few miles the beauty of nature worked its magic and my heart filled with love again.
Except for Noah, he can kick rocks! 🪨

Here's to another litter-pick
08/30/2026
Litter-pick on the north end of Maxwell Loop Rd from Old Greensboro Rd to Sunnyland Dr.
2 people, 3.5 hours = 57.44 lbs of litter + some type of metal frame that we didn't weigh.
There was a lot of trash this time, more than our last litter-pick of the area, which makes us sad & a lot of little pieces that weren't picked up before someone used a mower or weed eater 😔🤦🏼🙄.
We still need to return to pick from Old Greensboro Rd to Hwy 69 S., but that will be for another day.

Original Content One bag today
These EavinWhip cannisters are heavy after a mile! I guess some people had fun in the desert drinking and huffing last week.
Bonus I got to see a cool tarantula wandering around.

Cleaned up a new (to me) park today
It's downstream and downhill so if it floods it gets trashed pretty easily

Original Content 217 pieces picked up between 7:30 and 8:20 AM. Total litter pickup count since 06/08/2025: 18,258 items. Let's just say I found a few jackpots today...

Just some of the things we clean up in Parks
To be a Park Ranger you have to be okay with cleaning up after others. From leftover attractants, discarded garbage, graffiti to abandoned camps, and illegal dumping your job is to keep the park clean no matter the cost.

Original Content Morning walk in Interlaken (Switzerland) I found a used diaper and put it in the trash can 8 meters away. I don't understand people who do things like that.

Discussion I find so many pull tab cans
How do these cans not end up buried after 40+ years? I find more of these pull tabs cans in the woods then I do modern cans (modern cans obviously are more common roadside)

Small haul today! Allergies are bad so it’s less fun to pick up ☹️
I’m usually digging deep in the brush and walking thru grass but between mosquitos and pollen I had to stay closer to road and sidewalks- always enough there tho too

Original Content I wish I could use The Force to clean up trash
Funny piece of debris I found on my litter-pick today: Darth Vader! If only I could use The Force to pick up all the litter. Or maybe help litterers turn away from the dark side. What's the funniest thing you've ever found while trash picking?

Just shy of 4 months...
08/27/2026
Visited Thomas Rd. again from Windswept Dr. to Old Greensboro Rd. = 47.46 lbs totaling 518 pieces of deleted litter. It's been just shy of 4 months since the last cleanup on that stretch. Last time was 73.21 lbs. I'd say the area has made some improvements, but still has a lot of work to go!

Crosspost I made a short vid about straws
It’s just a video about how straws affect the animals and how pollution isn’t cool, just wanted to throw some more attention at it since i fear it’s not talked about enough!
