This was the stupidest scene in the entire series I think. It was playing in the background and the acting and awkwardness just made me cringe so hard.

What writer thought “let’s have Clare be home alone and then there’s a rat. The only person to save her is Drew. Perfect.”

It’s so dumb. Their whole relationship was dumb and unnecessary.

Im on 214E28ish and I have to ask, does Trisian get any better? Or is he insufferable the rest of the time hes on my screen? Because this boy consistently annoys me. Don't get me wrong, a lot of the characters are cringe, but I find myself fast forwarding every time he appears on the screen.

I think it was about time they decide to do a Top 10 list and one that I (CutterHistorical) would have issue with... nevertheless it was a great list

Im on my millionth rewatch but this is the first time i realized they brought in the character of Nick and did absolutely nothing with him. He was the main guy pushing the lakehurst/degrassi beef and then he wasnt even there the night JT got stabbed. They made a whole new character just to stab him when they already had a character who couldve done it.

Maybe the actor just wasnt available when they filmed the stabbing episode? But that plot line actually did play out kinda fast and the writers knew where it was leading, so surely they wouldve confirmed that the actor would be able to film all the scenes, right??

Maybe they planned on making Nick a reoccurring character in season 7 so they didnt wanna make him irredeemable? But then the actor didnt sign on or whatever? If thats the case, i feel robbed because i love devon bostick and i SO wish he wouldve been a main character on degrassi 😭 or at the very least, i wish he wouldve been the one to stab JT so it didnt feel like his character existed for nothing 😭

For me, Emma Nelson is the GOAT of winning of winning arguments and comebacks in the Next Gen Era. Emma always finds a way to put someone in their place (Especially Sean) and make them look stupid in any argument. Plus, she can make one of the most savage comebacks when she wants to.

what characters in your opinion were obviously set up for a redemption, but it failed to make them likeable?

for me the biggest example is Marisol. Her introduction to the series was home-wrecking jenna and kc, she outed her best friend as having an eating disorder, took part in bullying imogen and let her and fiona take the fall for the prank she and katie planned. then her intended redemption was supposed to be shown through dating Mo, where we would allegedly see a softer side to Marisol. but more often than not, she was a pretty sucky girlfriend to Mo too.

Zoe is another one. she literally distributed nude photos of underage girls for profit, amongst countless other things, yet we're supposed to feel compelled to root for her in her relationship with Rasha. i will say i would've liked the storyline with Rasha if they had actually given Zoe a proper redemption, but it was lacking compared to all of the things she did before.

I love them so much they are probably my favorite couple besides Emma and Sean they have the Kind of relationship that's so wholesome

Emma and Spinner as parents of their children (son starting 7th grade and daughter in 5th grade)

Toby reunited and married Kendra (becoming the uncle and joining Emma’s family)

Spike, Spinner, and Jack being the extended family.

Marco is the new Social Studies Teacher

Liberty is the new Science teacher

Clare is the new English teacher

Connor is the new Math teacher

Holly J is the new principal

Manny is the music / Drama teacher

Toby is the new media teacher

Dallas is the new coach/ gym teacher

Would be iconic to have all former students to be staff but I would see these characters becoming teachers if they were to pick a few. What do you all think?

I get chills in my body every time as soon as I hear “good morning maya matlin!” from cam with the scene after following the interaction between him and zig after the black eye incident.. those comments from zig I feel were like the straw that broke the camel’s back on top of everything else that cam was dealing with. for the amount of times I’ve seen this two part episode, it still makes me cry so much. to me this feels like the 3rd “dark shift” in degrassi. the 1st being jimmy and rick and the 2nd being jt’s death. how do you guys feel about this episode? I do wonder what maya would have been like in next class if cam had stayed.

Also to be fair what happened at Vegas night is like a drop of rain compared to the ocean of bullshit degrassi has been through for like 3-4 decades. Sure Fitz had a knife and a few students were hooking up in the boiler room (potentially). But Rick brought a gun to school and paralyzed Jimmy. He also shot himsrlf on accident. But also he was able to come back to degrassi after putting a girl in a coma. The kids who inspired the shooting basically got off Scott free. A new group of students from another school transferred to degrassi and terrorized the school. They even jumped one of his best students (Toby). Multiple kids get pregnant almost every season or almost pregnant. Back when Simpson was going to degrassi he walked in on the body of Vlaude after his suicide. And his wife got pregnant with his step daughter during that same time. Simpson had a front row seat to all of this but two kids beefing and a couple others having sex is where you say enough is enough. Get the hell outta here man!

Maybe it’s cause I’ve only seen s1-s5, but Ashley hasn’t really been a big problem. I mean, she sometimes gets on my nerves, but it’s understandable bc she’s a teenager.

It's so clear from Marisol's first appearance that she was going to go after KC. S10E5 and she's already spamming his phone and lusting after him.

Eli's a quote thief

I remember this couple being really popular back in the day and they still are to this day but many people have rightfully called out how toxic their relationship became and how they seemed more trauma bonded at the end. Did the writers make the write decision making them endgame or do you feel differently? What would your decision be as a writer and why?

The cracks started appearing in s9, after Declan and Fiona arrived. But the real switch didn't happen until s13, where it became a Temu Disney Channel show.

The last episode makes me feel like he should've moved on from his relationship with Clare. I get that they didn't make that choice to keep him in the serie since he was pretty popular among the fans, but I kinda agree with JJ and Lenore, a lot of things dont make sense, his relationship goes crazy, and in a way, it feels like he's ready and want to move to something else, something new.

(Im still glad I could see him for more episodes since he's my fav, but everything doesn't make much sense to me)

Once a character is gone, he's almost never mentioned again and I think it's quite unfortunate since some of them are relatives. I mean I get that they can't make them come back and that's okay, but when Alli is supposed to go to MIT, maybe Sav can send some congratulations, or get some help / support from Darcy when Clare goes through something (they both were sexually assaulted, it could've been a great support)… Of course it doesn't always bring something to the plot but I would give more realism.
Same thing for events, like Cam's death: Maya gets anxious about Milles, but no one brings this event again that could explain why she's making it such a big deal.

Those are only some examples coming to my mind, and I guess there are reasons, idk it just bothers me in a way 😭

Watching the episode and I HATE the part where Manny tells Craig that she took “this test” and she starts profusely apologizing to Craig like it’s only her that had the baby. Craig is such a tool and Manny hangs on his Every word.

I’ve always been a Manny fan and feel like she has been wronged in so many ways. You can tell she has low self esteem and wants to be loved so bad that she goes with whatever the guy says. She falls into a depression and her best friend continues to turn on her and shame her for basically anything she does. It’s just sad.

Imagine in another degrassi world if they kept the baby. How that would have changed the entire trajectory of the show!

I grew up with the original Degrassi TNG. I finally made the decision a month or so ago to rewatch it and continue to the end. As the title mentions, I watched the article where Claire was going to write the article about Zoe. She ended up fabricating stuff because Zoe lied. Would that not have been a decent article in itself? The woman had mentioned “loved by many, liked by none”. Talking about Zoe fabricating all these events would have really supported that statement. Was this ever addressed in the show and I missed it? I thought it would have been a really interesting article and I was surprised Claire (or Alli) didn’t see that.

I’m to the part of Degrassi where Alli is framed for smoking, and everything is going wrong in her life. Now i’m not really the biggest Alli fan but I understand where she is coming from in this particular instance. Now while it’s not really Sav’s fault that Alli is in all the drama that she’s in, I think she’s kind of right for being mad at him.

He throws everything in her face but it’s so easy for him to do that because every bad thing he’s ever done hasn’t gotten back to their parents, he literally almost got Anya pregnant. I’m saying they aren’t perfect and he hasn’t had to deal with the repercussions of the things he’s done. She literally has nobody and she should have her brother on her side.
