Discussion I want one.

Hello Del sol owners. I have been looking into the beautiful car that is the del sol for the past year, and I really want one. But since I can't afford to have several cars and such it would be my daily. Including winters, Wich are pretty snowy here (Sweden)

I have Heard good things about fuel economy and reliability. But it feels kinda wrong for a daily in a sense.

Are any of you running your del sol as a daily all year round? And if so, how is it? And is the "leaky from factory" roof I keep hearing about actually a big issue or is it easy to deal with.

Would love to hear your experiences with the car and such and get a good discussion going. I'm also thinking about a gen 4 prelude because they are really dope to be honest.

I can tell you my experience from 1995-1998 as a daily. I can't remember if I had a 1993 or 1995. But I was an S (base) model with an automatic transmission.

That car had very little power, so hills were a challenge on good days. There was one at a traffic light that I would turn right and up the hill. If I caught the green light, no problem. If I had to stop, it felt like it would barely get up the hill.

In winter, we mostly get ice and not much snow. In my apartment complex there was an exit that was closest to my apartment. It had about 1.5m rise over about 3m distance. Pretty steep. Most cars would make it fine. The del sol, not so much.

As far as leaks go, I must have been lucky as I don't remember having any issues with that. My current sol, I grease up the seals about once every 3 months or so, but I don't daily it.

Of all the cars I have owned, the del sol is my favorite.

Good luck with the search and don't buy an automatic.

Hey, manual transmission here. I live in west Germany, so snow isn't a big thing here but ice. Personally I haven't driven it in winter but the previous owner said it wasn't a problem. Hills are absolutely fine with the manual transmission. Just downshift and go. I will drive it as daily too and no leaking roof. Just make sure to grease the rubber. :)

I daily drove mine for about 2 years. It never let me down over 30k miles. If you can do very basic wrenching you’ll be good. The only complaint is that in bad weather you’re 100% gonna get leaks. If you don’t mind getting a bit wet it’s no big deal. Just bring a jacket

In 25 years my DS targa top has never leaked. I'm in Calif, so no problems with snow. In general FWD cars don't do as well on slick roads as RWD or AWD.
