Question Better armor for void than Eutechnology

Hi guardians.

I currently am running the Eutechnology 4 piece on my hunter and I generally like it but am seeing if there is something that is better for PVE, mostly because of the cool down on the void breaches that I've heard criticism about. I main either deadfall or morbius quiver with a shotgun and void rifle or smg.

Before I go farming for Eutechnology on my other classes I figured I'd ask here.

Also, what would you suggest for an artifact load out? I am a fan of volatile rounds if that makes any difference

To be fair, you'd probably be better off with a general set like Nessus than Eutechnology. But as the other comment said RoN is probably the best for void.

Lmao forgot about Ron set

u/Ihsoro 1d ago

I wish it didn’t require finishers. I swear I never use them outside of high level content. They typically just break up the flow of combat so much and feel so out of place that I avoid using them unless necessary.

the devour does, but devour is attainable from other sources and the data compendium doesn't say the damage resist is dependent on the devour coming from the set bonus... But I don't have the set to test that is true. But slayer baron artifact should be fine for getting devour.

8

u/richardhixx 1d ago

I can assure you that the damage resist does not require devour to come from the set, been using it with my brain off getaway artist build since day one of MoT.

u/Necrolance Warlock main for life 1d ago

Good to know. I wasn't 100% because I had heard early reports of it requiring the set bonus's devour, even though the data compendium doesn't say that. So yeah, honestly the slayer baron artifact would be fantastic for using with it

3

u/Tyvorol 1d ago

that make sense, eutechnology sounded good for the breach cooldown, but if Nessus is just more useful overall and RoN fits void better, I'd rather farm the set that won't feel dead outside one build

8

u/Kashtronaut92 1d ago

Nessus is 29.5 Dr from 3 armor charges spent, with special finisher which most builds have anyway. One stack mod so 4 stacks total, so when you finisher you still have 1 left to keep fontmods active. 2 charges on orb pickup mod for convenience, can special finisher every 2 orbs. 3 simple mods most people use anyway is all you need to use the armor effectively

2

u/Daechathon 1d ago

RoN armor is better for subclasses that have access to DR but need healing, like strand or stasis. It’s also only good if you can guarantee those finishers for yourself without it being stolen by teammates.

u/Callan_T 1d ago

I am in the same boat with my titan. I was under the impression that Eutech generated breaches on a separate cool down. I recently learned that was not true so I've begun farming a set of the Europa crystocrene armor. The extra ammo generation and the frost armor build up seem like they will work well with No Backup Plans/ slayer's fang.

I use tablet of ruin to get extra benefits from the void/ strand synergies and get volatile rounds with frequency. I've heard that the repulsor brace is also excellent but I haven't used it too much.

I'm not sure if all that would be beneficial for a hunter though.

Veritas two piece bypasses the Void breach cooldown iirc.

u/special_reddit Vengeance is a dish best served cold. 8h ago

Oh really? Interesting... but damn, the void explosions from 4-piece Eutechnology are so damn useful! Still... sounds like I'll have to check this out.

6

u/ravensteel539 1d ago

Repulsor Brace is like THE single best survivability perk in the game, imo. It gives a full void overshield for very little effort, which is way more effective health compared to Heal Clip or other perks (because a void overshield also has some DR in PvE).

Highly recommend it on Slayer’s Fang, and on anything else. You can do the classic combo on most weapons and pair it with Destabilizing Rounds, but Demoralize and Withering Gaze also work great. If you want to, you can also just rely on your subclass/artifact for debuffs and run it alongside a damage perk.

Also the fact that is has zero cooldown is crazy good.

I know the Root of Nightmare 4p is really good for improving devour

u/le_meme_desu 1d ago

Currently bugged and only gives DR from activating devour off the finisher

u/Good-Name015 Buff Stasis 1d ago

I swear from my testing the DR works correctly? I was proccing devour from orbs or buried bloodline, not the finisher.

I never saw a resist buff on my screen even if I finished an enemy so I'm left to believe it doesn't use one.

Granted my testing wasn't particularly intensive, just summoning the boss Colossus in the firing range and checking the position of my health bar after 3 hits.

13

u/MonkeyType 1d ago edited 1d ago

This was my experience as well. Tested via Carl in the shooting range and it didn’t matter what the initial source for the devour was, DR remained (tested with ability kills with feed the void, finishers, and orbs of power with echo of starvation)

If there’s a bug then it seems it’s got to be something more complicated. It is hard to immediately see when DR is and isn’t working.

0

u/Ershardia 1d ago

I tested it myself, the DR only procs when you get devour via finisher.

4

u/MonkeyType 1d ago

You need to be more specific than that. Like post a clip or explain your test in a way that can be replicated.

1

u/Ershardia 1d ago

I measured in the firing range, and did the same thing where I measured how many hits it took to kill me at a slower rpm with and without the buff from an enemy.

5

u/MonkeyType 1d ago edited 1d ago

What enemy? In my test I used Carl because he shoots slowly but constantly, which made tracking the damage easier. I used the default shooting range setting for my character, which I believe is master setting (-30). At below 100 health stat and no resist mods (standard health basically) Carl took seven shots with his big arc gun to bring down my shields and put me in the red. With devour from orbs, finishers, or ability kills beforehand and the full RoN armor set, it took Carl more shots to put me in the red. Nine or ten shots I believe. That’s how I knew the DR was working. I tested those three methods of gaining and extending devour separately to be sure. This was all done on voidwalker.

4

u/eugene20 1d ago

Does it literally stop you gaining devour from other means?
That it takes a finisher to give devour from the armor bonus is literally in the armor set's description so that wouldn't be a bug on it's own.

-4

u/IndorilHendershot 1d ago

The damage resistance it gives devour only activates off a finisher

9

u/Good-Name015 Buff Stasis 1d ago

I'm pretty certain this isn't true, from my testing the DR works regardless of devour source, it doesn't display a resist buff but it is definitely giving me DR.

The data compendium also doesn't list it as bugged and those guys are way more in-depth than I am.

3

u/AbominableSandwich 1d ago

But once you have it, does refreshing devour normally also refresh the DR?

1

u/eugene20 1d ago

I understand now. With how bungie usually writes these things it reads like it's probably how it was intended instead of it being an extra bonus for devour constantly.

u/LightspeedFlash 1d ago

You got evidence of this. The data compendium doesn't say this and would be nice to have it updated to if you are correct.

RON 4 peice is very strong. All the universally strong ones work as well.

What's your heavy / dps set up?

Personally I like running tablet for void stuff, just toss in anything void related and you're pretty much solid. Npr is a close second with the void perks / auto rifle synergy since you mentioned autos in your post.

But if you need orbs for dps: vog armor

DR:

  • 4pc RON

  • 2pc smoke jumper + 2 pc cryo / ron

Supportive:

  • 2pc cryo + 2pc kf

  • 2pc ron + 2 pc SE

u/LiteratureOk1514 1d ago

My heavy is usually truth but I'm open to other ones. I usually go for an ad clear set up and DPS set up.

CODA

4

u/LiteratureOk1514 1d ago

I like the idea of these for my hunter and the grenade, but since I run contraverse hold on my warlock and get my grenades back quickly is it worth getting for my warlock?

4

u/Monte-Cristo2020 1d ago

For contaverse run nessus 4pc

1

u/cruzalta 10h ago

why is that?

1

u/Monte-Cristo2020 7h ago

Just really good damage reduction that is agnostic and with how much armor charge you can juggle with contraverse its an easy pick

1

u/cruzalta 7h ago

ahh okay thats reasonable. i thought there's a hidden interaction or something with contraverse. thanks for the reply

4

u/Bwardrop 1d ago edited 1d ago

Run a gunner set of Coda with 200 weapons and 120ish grenade stat. The coda will make up of the lack of 200 grenade stat when you make void weapon kills. I run Choir Corrective Measure with demo. It’s the best of both worlds. The NPA Repulsion artifact has some great synergy with it. Volatile flow, unto the breach, bricks from beyond, supernova and void channeling.

Edit: run a firefly/headstone primary and enjoy 40% damage resist on kills from the 4 piece coda as well.

2

u/Altarious 1d ago

Oooh might try this out

1

u/Status-Fail-333 1d ago

I don’t know the numbers on the Last Wish set as far as damage resist goes, but the ammo gen is really good. Definitely worth looking into for contraverse. Also Age Old Bond as well. Demo/Golden Tricorn, plus the origin trait all pairs great with any void grenade spam setup.

3

u/nope_has_the_pope 1d ago

Personally I'm using the 2p root of nightmare and 2p smoke jumper cause the combo makes it feel so nice for helping with survival and also super gen, plus farming nez is really easy tbh any can do it, and the smoke is greatly accessable.

Vault of glass armour with Fortunes favour

u/Terminal_Lancelot 1d ago

Nessus 4 piece. If they break your shields near an orb of power? Boom, full health, devour active. Couple with an attrition orbs kinetic and various other methods of orb spawning, and you literally can't die.

My Actium War Rig Titan with Khvostov can literally just sit in front of a boss and dump rounds. Boss breaks shield, full health, and Eyes Up x7, ricochets kill ads, keep up devour, recharges super. I literally don't have to do anything other than follow the boss around and shoot it in the crit spot.

2

u/john0harker 1d ago

The eutechnology set is the void set for the raid less guardian

It's the baseline that is easy to access for those that can't get a group of guardians together.

The true void set, imo, is the raid set from nezarac

Damage reduction while you have devour is horrifying when paired with pure void, let alone prismatic

I'm sadly not home to look up specifics nor my own dim aets, but I will say that the eutech is good, but the nezarac set from the raid is better.

(It also depends on builds, I made one specifically built for orb and breach generation with eutech and it's fun)

5

u/Samjef_Kealclut 1d ago

No id go further and say unless the eutech is changed to bypass the void cooldown (it wont). Then its jsut a huge bait.
There a million ways to make breaches based on the artifacts and exotics weapons, its moooore than enough to hit the limit. Therefor the eutech is just a wasted slot. bums me out since I was farming them heavily but whatever.

1

u/Necrolance Warlock main for life 1d ago

If they had more time before the final layoffs, they might have been able to remove the cooldown for the armor set. But alas. They kind of had to rush the armor out the door with whatever it had before it could be balance-tested...

2

u/Samjef_Kealclut 1d ago

yea a real bummer.  wonder how quick removing something like the cool down is. they did it for stasis and it would be a decent and not super broken upgrade for most of the classes.  oh well. off to other armor. RoN here I come

1

u/cruzalta 10h ago

its probably WAS planned to bypass it like lumino but the devs noticed the amount of artifact perk activating from void breeches and thought it would be OP in addition with the 4p that they emergency-nerf it. same feeling i had about turncoat being last word cat but deemed too good

1

u/CrayonWithdrawal 1d ago

honestly Iron banner armor is a solid choice. it takes 6 super kills to get one third of your super bar back, and ~12% damage bonus on primary ammo guns is a nice extra bonus.

1

u/ErgoProxy0 1d ago

Ron 2 piece. Generates an orb upon defeating a debuffed target. Perfect for proccing Devour on Hunter with echo of starvation

the Grasp set is always good

1

u/twinbloodtalons 1d ago

If you've running one of the popular Devour/Volatile builds you're probably creating a lot of orbs. I love running the Exodus Down armour with my Void Titan.

u/TheMajesticMrL Exo Gunslinger | Elsie best girl 1d ago

An answer I'm not seeing that I've been enjoying is the Techeun's Regalia armor set from Shattered Throne. Mostly because I pair it with Gyrfalcon's and spam finishers. You get DR and ability regen at max stacks, using finishers is the best way to get stacks, and Gyrfalcon's gives you an overshield on finishers anyway on top of class ability regen and weapon damage.

And all of the buffs from the armor set just last forever. You don't have to worry about replenishing them or anything, just get to 999 stacks and stay there unless you die.

1

u/Oilswell 1d ago

Eutech is mostly useless.

I guess there’s three options here. The Root of Nightmares set synergises well with void, giving you orb gen and DR for things you’ll already be doing. Alternatively, something like the Sundered Doctrine set could reenforce a secondary aspect of your character (strand in that case). Finally, you could use something like Crystcrene, which gives first armour and could create a totally separate additional effect for your character.

1

u/SirGarvin 1d ago

2pc europa and 2pc whatever tf you want -> profit

1

u/Necrolance Warlock main for life 1d ago edited 1d ago

Honestly RoN should work REALLY well with the artifacts that give you devour from weakened target kills, especially since you're on void hunter. The finisher portion should be more treated as a catalyst for those devour-related artifact perks, since on the slayer baron apothecary satchel the void mods on there are centered around weaken, void breaches and devour. It loops into itself, picking up void breaches lets you weaken targets and spawn a rain of void projectiles on void weapon hit, killing multiple weakened enemies gives devour, kills while devour is up adds to a hidden counter that spawns a void breach... It loops on itself.

1

u/TwevOWNED 1d ago

It would just be better to use an ammo 2 piece and a DR 2 piece.

If you really wanted to play into the void theme, the Root of Nightmares or Throne World sets are fine enough if you're willing to regularly go for finishers.

1

u/lTheSmugglerl Vanguard's Loyal // Better the devil you know 1d ago

As others have mentioned, the only other set that is (more-or-less) specifically for Void would be the Root of Nightmares set. Aside from that, you're just gonna have to go for subclass-agnostic/neutral sets (Vault of Glass/Shattered Throne/Grasp of Avarice/Nessus sets, to name a few), if you're not planning to lean into specific weapons/abilities that have their own set support

1

u/Ershardia 1d ago

RoN one I find generally better for any subclass besides Void. The strength is devour access without needing to be on void, as generally void always has other and better means of access to it.

1

u/Delirious_Gir Drifter's Crew 1d ago

Volatile rounds do count as explosive damage for the seraph set, definitely not the most reliable. But I think the seraph set is fun, and it's an option for void.

1

u/GenericAliasReal 1d ago

Coda, RoN, or if you can't get your hands on those, Hezen

1

u/N_E-Z-L_P-10-C 1d ago

EU technology isn't that great, if it bypassed the void breach cooldown, that would make it much better

1

u/Daechathon 1d ago

Salvations edge + crystocrene. If you can’t do salvations, just use 4 piece nessus.

1

u/Exploding_Cumsock 1d ago

I think the VoG set is just the best overall set for mostly everything

1

u/Ryuji2 1d ago

Unless the void breach cooldown gets separated, the Eutechnology set is a trap. Better off going for the Nessus Exodus Down armor as a general set, or vault of glass if you can get it. Another decent ish set is the Seventh Seraph one that normally works best on stasis, but any explosion can proc it(every subclass on every class can cause an explosion to make it count).

Also an argument to be made for the Grasp of Avarice armor for a general purpose one(though again, stasis can generate the greed stacks the fastest)

1

u/Bonjouritsready 20h ago

I think eutechnology is fun, but it’s pretty redundant in higher tier content.

As a general set, 2 piece Europa/kings fall for ammo generation (always double special) and 2 piece Salvations Edge for a damage bump just feels a lot better.

If you have a DPS build, VoG is comfortably the best option. Orb generation at your feet just for dealing damage is unrivalled.

1

u/tsaintc 16h ago

Any other set would be better.

1

u/TarnVireo 16h ago

For void hunter I would farm around the exotic first and treat Eutechnology as a bonus, not the core of the build. Gyrfalcon with a void SMG or rifle is probably your best match if you like volatile, since invis feeds volatile rounds way more reliably than waiting on breach cooldowns. Orpheus Rig is still great for Deadfall or Moebius if you care more about super uptime and orb generation. For artifact, lean into void weapon perks, breach or orb pickup effects, and anything that helps class ability uptime.

1

u/AdAccomplished419 15h ago

Vault of Glass armor. Makes you always have devour up no matter what if you pair it with the right fragment

1

u/Top_Acanthisitta3031 3h ago

Ron is goated makes so much orbs and damage resistance just for having devourer

1

u/Samjef_Kealclut 1d ago

I still say grasp of avarice is good if you have something orb related.
Prophecy is good for spam builds
Im thinking the neptune armor 2pc if you have ammo needs and like a 2pc like ferropotent
Nessus is also fine. Just not special.

1

u/maweenawa 1d ago

Nessus and Vog are good on basically everything

1

u/Jenkinswarlock 1d ago

If you wanna throw grenades coda is pretty dope

1

u/AdrenalineBomb 1d ago edited 1d ago

The answer is VoG armor. Using prismatic+facet of purpose on tether anytime you get an orb you get void overshield and the armor set 4 piece drips orbs at your feet every 5 seconds.

It's near impossible to die with the constant overshield You are always have surges/fonts active You generate so many orbs you can tether more often.

It's so far and away the best armor it kind of sucks IMO.

*Edit cause I got distracted with work and hit enter too soon.

If you port this idea over to void with echo of starvation you don't have a subclass way to generate overshield but instead you loop devour. You still generate orbs every 5seconds at your feet which still proc all the goodies you get from getting an orb.

5

u/Necrolance Warlock main for life 1d ago

>OP is asking for best armor for void
>recommending for prismatic

I know the intent is good, and you're not wrong, but... c'mon.

0

u/AdrenalineBomb 1d ago

Echo of starvation gets you the same loop going on void. I forgot to add that bit after work distracted me.

1

u/idespisemyhondacrv 1d ago

Ngl void subclass (on hunter at least) is so strong and provides so much regen, survivability and utility that I deadass just use the 4pc kf, 2pc se KF and the 4pc vog instead. 4pc kf is REALLY useful for the ammo gen and invis, but imo on void you can safely use the VOG set instead. I would recommend stuff like the Crota 2pc with the kf2 pc if ur going for some sort of melee builds, and maybe the last wish 2pc if ur grenade spamming

0

u/Pmurph33 1d ago

I've been using prophecy and it is pretty insane for prismatic

-1

u/Fish_Smell_Bad 1d ago

Yeah I don't use that set even on void builds. I like using sets like salvation's edge, smoke jumper, or iron banner.

0

u/purplefear 1d ago

Root of nightmares set

0

u/Kaiser_Gelethor 1d ago

I've been running some mixture of two piece Europa, kings fall, and salvations. Mainly Europa and kings fall since I'm running wavesplitter and never want to run out of ammo.
