destiny 2, Two bugs blocking my progress: gunsmith/vanguard engrams not registering + can only buy weapons via decrypt (stuck at Guardian Rank 3/4)
Hello, I’m also stuck and I’d like to know if anyone has already found a solution.
I’ve only been playing for about a week, and I’m looting quite a lot of stuff, but here’s the problem: whenever I pick up an engram in-game whether it’s a Gunsmith engram or a Vanguard engram it never actually gets added. When I go to the vendor tied to that engram (for example the Gunsmith), the counter is stuck at 0, every single time. Only classic/regular engrams seem to register properly; the special ones (Gunsmith, Vanguard, etc.) just don’t.
Because of this, I’m also stuck on Guardian Rank 4, where I’m supposed to buy a weapon directly from a vendor. The problem is that my only way to buy a weapon right now is by decrypting one, and that requires Gunsmith engrams — which I can’t get credited for. So I’m blocked at Guardian Rank 3/4 because of this combo of two bugs:
1. Engrams I loot in activities don’t get added to the vendor count.
2. My only way to buy weapons is through decryption, which depends on the engrams from bug #1.
I saw that some people had a similar issue where the engram/rank rewards only show up after physically revisiting the Tower or the specific vendor — has anyone tried that and confirmed it fixes the counter, or found another workaround? Any help on either bug (or another way to buy/unlock a weapon to progress past Rank 3) would be really appreciated. Thanks!
Astuce à tester avant de poster (mentionnée par d’autres joueurs) : certains ont signalé exactement ce problème et ont résolu le blocage de rang en allant farmer des engrammes d’armurier dans les coffres de patrouille, puis en faisant un “focused decoding” chez Banshee-44 — cela a débloqué leur quête bloquée. Essayez ça avant de poster, ça pourrait déjà résoudre votre souci de Rang 3/4 sans attendre de réponse sur Reddit.[reddit]
Je vous conseille aussi de préciser votre plateforme (PS5, PC, etc.) dans le post — les modérateurs et autres joueurs le demandent presque toujours pour orienter le diagnostic.

so you’re seeing vanguard/gunsmith engram being added to your inventory but not at the vendor? or are you saying you can only pick up normal world drops engrams? vendor engrams are reputation rank up based

Are you saying youre not getting the gunsmith/vanguard engrams from ranking up with the vendors at all?

Gunsmith also has legacy weapons that dodn't get updated you can buy.
Also are you sure you are "looting" those engrams? The purple ones on the ground are just weapon drops dependant on the activity

Yes, absolutely certain. I must have about 20 hours of playtime, and I’ve picked up plenty of engrams from the Gunsmith and other vendors, but the counter isn’t updating... and I can’t buy any weapons except with engrams.

You picked them up FROM the gunsmith? Like at the counter the top right thingy next to the rep bar?
You are not picking up engrams, you are redeeming them for random loot instead of focussing them like you need to do

Yeah, exactly, but I’ve looted a lot of them from chests and by dismantling weapons too... and I see them pop up on the right side of the screen when I loot them. I really think I’ve got a bug with the engrams... I’m going to try creating a new Guardian, but I’m bummed out.

You need to buy one of buy one of the weapons from the page that you have to press the right arrow to go to.
