Job boards will not need to include a salary, the job can be posted and so long as applicants are told before or during the interview then it is compliant.

Does anyone has any idea how long optum process takes? It’s been more than 45 days since this process started. I’ve been to two interviews, worked on a take home task and also presented that in person. I believe there might be another round of interview but this process is very slow. I have sent email to the hr regarding the next steps but seems like I am ghosted as it’s been more than a week now with no response.

I got offered a Software Engineer job in Dublin to work in a very corporate company.

I live in Cork and I just graduated from MTU in Software Development.

It has been really hard getting a job down here in Cork, seems very dry lately and I am afraid for not getting anything in Cork for the next months, maybe year.

Funny enough, never got an interview in Cork from any company, but got interviews with Amazon, Microsoft, Google and another one (the one I got the offer but I dont want to dox myself).

Salary is 70k year, plus sign on bonus and stocks.

The problem is that I fear of moving up to Dublin and then getting laid off in a few months.

Here in Cork I rent my own apartment pretty cheap (around 800 monthly in the city centre) with my wife.

Work is hybrid, Mon-Wed office, Thur-Frid remote.

My plan is to go up on Mondays early in the morning, work until Wednesday, sleeping 2 days in the car, coming back on Wednesday after work back to Cork. Pay gym to use the showers and also do a little bit of workout.

I know this sounds crazy but I can't move right now also since my wife has finally got a chance to do her PhD in UCC after years out of education.

How crazy am I? I am planning to do this for 10 months and let her finish her studies. Then if everything seems stable we decide to move up in Dublin.

I am posting this for a friend without a Reddit account who is in Cork. He is entering his final year of a Software Development Level 8 at MTU after finishing his internship, but a change in circumstances makes full-time study difficult.

I am going to my last year of college in Bachelors Honours in SD after doing my 8 months internship.

I had a change of circumstances that will make my live very difficult for the last year of full-time college and I don't know if I can make it and get a 1:1 or good grades.
Friend of mine talked about a course in springboard in ATU called Contemporary Software Development that is online during the evening, that will give me a Honours level 8.

But I am afraid of giving up MTU and doing the ATU but employers not hiring from ATU college, or if that has a bad reputation. I tried looking for people that did this course on Linkedin but couldn't find any, and also Reddit doesn't talk much about it job wise.

I have until this Friday to request the Exit Award and do the online part-time course.

The part-time will enable me to work so I can pay rent and survive, have more time to focus on interview preparation, leetcode, side projects and studies but I am afraid of not getting any job because I decided to do ATU.

It seems companies reach out to MTU for their last year students to offer jobs (just hear rumours but asked around and people said that is not true)

You can even hire multiple philosophers and have them spar intellectually in your household. They can also offer cleaning services as this has been a regular ask from customers. It’s so popular it makes up 95% of our business. However most customers request that the philosophers not turn up in 18th century apparel or Greek togas, and remain silent while cleaning. I find that after an interview process, it's easy to negotiate the offer. But how do you go about it when it's a promotion? Only ever negotiated when changing jobs, I didn't go through the promotion process before. Recently, it's been hinted that they're thinking of putting my name up for a promotion and I'm stressing out about what I can and can't say about money and how to approach. I’m at the stage where I’m seriously considering starting my own company in Ireland, but I’m a bit lost with all the admin involved.

I understand the basics, but things like company registration, documents, deadlines, and making sure everything is done correctly seem like areas where small mistakes can cause problems later.

For those who have already gone through the process, did you set everything up yourself or did you get help from a company formation service?

I’ve been looking into options and came across Company Bureau, which seems to help with company formation and ongoing requirements. I’d be interested to hear if anyone here has experience with them or has other suggestions.

I could really use some advice or guidance. I’m a first gen corporate worker, I work a technical (not too heavy coding more architectural stuff) role and have been struggling with stress. It is crippling me, I am so early in my career and can’t help but feel like a wall is falling in. I have no one in my family who can relate to the intensity that comes from the brain work sometimes.

I see Michele had a bit of an exit.. and a friend who has had some services with them, has seen stuff migrated to other "partners".

Personally I don't like the sound of all that.. I always wanted to support Michele, have I missed the boat?

So, I'm in Galway, the roles I'm seeing near me are in the 70-90 range usually. The same role and title and requirements seems to be advertised at the 110-130 mark in Dublin.

Is there really that high of a discrepancy between locations? Or am I just getting bad data?

I’ve been offered Program Manager roles at both Salesforce and Oracle and I’m trying to decide which would be the better long-term move.

I’m particularly concerned about Oracle given the recent layoffs and reports of further cuts, but I’m also aware that Salesforce has had layoffs as well.

For anyone who has worked at both companies, or has significant experience with either:
- Which has the better work culture?
- Which offers the best work-life balance?
- Which company feels more secure/stable right now?
- Where would you say there are better career growth opportunities for a Program Manager?
- Are there any major differences in management style, promotion opportunities or internal mobility?

I'm a data analyst with around 10 years experience, but my career hasn't taken me where I'd like it.

I've been with my current company for the last four years, but I've done relatively little traditional data analysis work during that time. My role has become much more consulting-focused, including data audits, developing data strategies, running workshops, report writing and some Power BI work.

I've also had some exposure to more technical work. I was involved in a project using Django to digitise a client's workflow, although my role ended up being mainly modelling forms and business logic in YAML rather than actually developing in Django. I've also done some client facing work and picked up account management and project management  (not accredited)  responsibilities along the way.

The problem is that I feel my technical skills have stagnated.

I've tried to get an internal analytics project off the ground, but competing priorities have meant it's lost momentum. I've also made it known that I'd like to get more involved in software development as the dev team is always busy, but whenever an opportunity comes up, I'm usually pulled onto something else.

I feel like management recognises that I have a broad and useful skillset, but there isn't really a defined role for me, so I keep getting moved between different types of projects.

I'm now considering leaving, but I'm not sure which direction to take.

Part of me thinks I should spend the next 6–12 months seriously upskilling and try to move into a more technical data/analytics role. The other part wonders whether I should lean into the skills I've developed in consulting, account management and project management.

My concern with going technical is that, despite having 10 years' experience, I'm probably not as technically strong as someone with considerably less experience who has spent their career doing hands-on analytics.

At the same time, I don't really want to move completely away from the technical side. I enjoy working with data and solving technical problems, and I'd be disappointed if I ended up in a primarily managerial role simply because that's where my experience has taken me.

Current technical skills

Python: Mainly scripting, APIs, data cleaning and occasional debugging. I'm currently doing a couple of LeetCode challenges each week.

Power BI: Power Query and DAX

VBA: Used extensively in a previous role, but haven't used it in my current company.

Some exposure to Django, but very limited hands-on development experience.

So, I'm hoping some fof you can help me answer these questions:

1. Would you try to move into a more technical role, and if so, what roles would you target?

2. Is it realistic to make that move after four years of relatively little hands-on analysis/development?

3. What technical skills would you prioritise developing over the next 6–12 months?

4. Or would you lean into the consulting/account/project-management side of my experience instead?

I'd particularly appreciate perspectives from people in this sub and anyone that may have seen people make similar career pivots.

Wondering is anybody working in Salesforce in an architect capacity? Given all the negative discussions around saleaforce globally wondering how things are run on the technical side of thing with regards to stability (at least some level of stability).Got quite a substantial offer and this has me thinking could I ride it out for a couple of years to basically make as much money as possible during this period.
