Based on the fact that force edge had the design of alastor in the beta this leads me to believe the larger version of alastor shown here was the beta version of the Devil sword sparda and based on early trailers i now believe alastors DT form was intended to be what sparda looked like before he got the iconic insect design we have now. Its really interesting that they decided to split force edge and alastor into different swords and ditch terra in favor of ifrit.
As for mundus his model has him flying automatically and his moveset is very different.

WHY AM I ONLY NOW FINDING OUT THAT THE JAPANESE VOICE OF BAYONETTA AND LARA CROFT AND LISA LISA WAS ALSO THE JAPANESE VOICE OF TRISH FROM DMC, AFTER SHE DIED THE DAY AFTER THREE OTHER LEGENDS????
I literally just found this out as I was making a video about Bayonetta, after she already died last week, when we lost Dolly Parton, Tim Curry, and Peter Cullen. Why? Why does the universe do this to me????? 😭😭😭😭
We lost Japanese Trish, you guys… We lost Japanese Trish

I have every style maxed, all DT and health bar gauges, and super Dante. The first two rooms are fine. I keep failing at the second room just barely before the last abyss dies and I just keep resetting. Any tips?

Who knows how long we'll get a DMC6 for. As much as we've seen rivalry between Dante & Vergil, what kind of rival would you picture him having in the next game as he's now the lone Sparda protector of humanity (yet having Nico, Trish & Lady backing him up)?
It all depends on the type that works for him if he's to evolve and reach his uncle & father's levels.
Should the rival be someone human, demon or half-demon/hybrid whether a pure one that follows Sparda's path in a good or bad way or an artificial one that's created in a lab? Even whether the rival should have a sword, polearm or a different melee weapon?

I know in the Before The Nightmare novel covered some bit where Balrog had a piece of Yamato, but what happened to that piece? Did Dante keep it? Also is Yamato theoretically weakened(to even a negligible extent) by not having all its pieces? Then again Dante only kept the handle of rebellion and it still kept its power so Maybe it wouldn’t matter, maybe Nero repaired it completely when he merged it in his arm?

This fight was tricky, but after two attempts, I had finally defeated Trismagia, got his health down to zero and even got the steam achievement for defeating him.
He just wouldn't die though. His health was at zero and I got the achievement but he kept going. I shot at him a bunch and nothing happened until I lost the fight.
Is this a known bug? Is there a fix? I couldn't find much online.

Thinking of adding this to the Achievement section of my resume. Will I get a good job with this piece of information?

So I was fighting Dante with invincibility and 0.5x timescale in this moment to try and get this specific interaction, after interrupting Judgement Dante's SDT is still attacking, is there a lore reason behind this? This doesn't seem like an oversight because of the way the SDT gradually disappears and my theory is that it's basically the remnants of the Doppelganger style from dmc3 that allows his SDT to remain for a moment, any other idea or theory?

This is my first time trying the Devil May Cry games. I only know it's a Capcom game, and I don't know much about the lore beyond what I saw in the Netflix series trailer. Watching the series reminded me that I'd never played the game. Now I've bought the HD Collection and I'm going to see what it's all about. Is there anything you'd like to tell me before I play it, or any advice? From what I can see, I have pretty average expectations.

I currently have the Devil May Cry Kaitai Shinsho guidebook and almost the entire KT Figure Collection, with Dante A being the only one I'm missing. As a huge fan of the first Devil May Cry, I was really lucky to find these in my country.
The figures come with a bunch of tiny accessories, so I'm only showing Dante B and Nelo Angelo here. ❤️

I wanted to hop on DMC4 after not playing for a while but everytime I try to open it, it shows a black screen with this error and the game crashes. Is there anyone with similar experience or knowledge that can help me?

honestly this is just a little nostalgia post xD, a little over a year ago (15th of april 2025) I made a post on here raging about DMC 3. I was stuck on mission 8 and it was my first ever time playing. i remember being so genuinely mad i was so close to dropping the game and just never picking it back up. I know it was a huge skill issue for me lol but a lot of kind people on here gave me loads of tips that actually helped me learn! i actually ended up finishing my first ever playthrough on the 6th of august 2025 and god was i proud of myself T-T
now skipping to today, devil may cry has become my favourite game franchise! I am DEEPLY in love with all of the games (but 2 will always be the hated child.) my favourite being 4. which yes I know is controversial since the game seemed so rushed out but DMC 4 Nero will always be one of my favourite experiences in DMC. I constantly replay the games whenever I'm having a rough time or needing a distraction to the point I'm very willing to say they are my comfort games. through breakups, illness and even getting kicked out and almost losing my house, DMC was always there for me to pick up and just chill.
I guess the point of this post is to anyone who was like me a year ago. on mission 8 of DMC 3, raging and wanting to just give up. don't. see devil may cry through for the beautiful game that it is. from when you finally get your first SSS on Dante in DMC 3 to finally perfecting the 3 judgement cuts on Vergil in DMC 5. you'll always get excited and happy when you learn something new because the game will always keep you learning. to this day i still am! i'm currently doing Dante Must Die on DMC 3 and 5! and yes while it's a struggle that little hit of dopamine when something works for you is to die for.
TLDR: don't give up on devil may cry, you'll love it eventually even if it takes time!

I've played all of the mainline games multiple times, and only recently decided to check out DmC, expecting a fun but fundamentally flawed game, since the general impression I got of it from the ether is that it's pretty much another DMC2.
I'm on mission 15 right now and man, I think this game is probably my favorite overall.
I prefer 5 for the combat, but DmC gets really close for me. I love the weapon system and how it introduces the possibility for enemies with specific vulnerabilities, as well as how a lot of enemies have specific ways that they can be interrupted/made vulnerable. Even the fact that although every weapon has the exact same input chains (which can even lead into each other) and yet they all feel vastly different I feel speaks to the strength of the moveset. The weapons are essentially more "obviously" specialized tools, rather than the mainline games's weapons feeling more like they're all mostly general purpose with emergent specializations. I also really appreciate that it has a slightly lower skill floor, although I can see that the skill ceiling is probably also lower as a trade-off.
Artistically and level design-wise, DmC is on a whole other level compared to the others imo. The gimmick with Limbo being able to warp all around makes each level so unique compared to all the others, and the new movement options with the whip and the dash allow for more freeform environments. Even just the presentation is much more interesting and unique. It's not that the mainline games look bad, but they are very gray, brown and red due to their locations. I genuinely can't remember any single mainline game's location being as visually striking as any one of the locations in DmC so far (the disco especially).
When it comes to the music, most of the ost of DmC is pretty great, and it's nice to have tracks change between missions. I love the combat themes for the other games but it gets tiring having to hear the same song for the whole playthrough.
Story-wise, I'm invested so far. It's nothing crazy good or anything like that, but for this series a "just fine" story essentially means it's better than DMC2 (which barely has one), worse than DMC3 and on par with the others, except there is more of it, which is a welcome change to me. I can see how someone could be upset at how drastically different every returning character is, Vergil especially, but I don't think it's fair to want a reboot to keep everything intact. I also don't sense any "disrespect" for the original, other than maybe that one white hair wig gag at the start, which is just a dumb joke that honestly sets the vibe and expectation for the rest of the game perfectly.
I haven't played any of the games on launch, and don't really have any nostalgia for them, so maybe that’s why DmC doesn't bother me? Still though, I don't see why just pass it up as bad or mid, when it's actually a great game in its own right. Also, to be fair, I grew up with 7th gen games (GoW3, Infamous, Bayonetta, etc.) and that edgy and crass style has become a guilty pleasure of mine.
My question is genuine though, if you don't like DmC, why is it? Just do keep it constructive please.
