Help Which Firebase hostname should I request for fetch approval? (.web.app isn't on the list)

Hi guys.

Been rejected twice on fetch domain requests and I'm going in circles.

Sooo to start, my app is a bar finder for out-of-market sports fans. Basically think a mass database for NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, Soccer, etc teams all in one instead of being listed by each team separately. Also allows users to rate the bars based on loyalty/enthusiasm. There are a few different ways of doing that. Anyways, the bar data is in Firestore and it's the same database my iOS and Android apps use, so it has to stay the source of truth. Devvit's Redis is per-subreddit so it can't hold any of that.

First I requested the cloudfunctions.net hostname. Rejected and received no feedback. Figured that was the problem, so I put it behind a domain I own, which I now realize is the "personal domains" bucket. Rejected again, but also no reason.

So I went back to the policy and here's my problem: the approved list says firebase.com. But Firebase doesn't hand out project hostnames on firebase.com. You get .web.app, .firebaseapp.com, or .cloudfunctions.net, and none of those are on the list. I genuinely can't tell what a compliant Firebase endpoint would even look like.

Is firebase.com meant to cover Firebase-hosted stuff generally?

Appreciate any and all help guys.

Did you consider raising a ticket on the Discord server? I had an issue with a domain name and I was able to explain my case and get it resolved through there.

I don’t have a discord so I was trying to not have to do that. I’ll definitely do that later tonight though since I haven’t gotten a response. Thanks.

It'll help although it'll take time. From what I've learned, domain approval cases are handled traditionally on Tuesdays or early Wednesdays. Also, make sure you explain in your README why you need the domain names (even if it is Firebase) and why Reddit's Devvit APIs cannot serve those needs. Also, make sure your privacy policy and terms are all filled in on the app page. These are the tips I received from people in the Discord server.

Here's my app and its README for reference. This plus the Discord ticket got my rejected domain approved.

Just submitted a ticket. Appreciate it. I’ll also doublecheck everything you mentioned.

aint no way im the only one experiencing this lol

Also I messaged the mods here but have gotten no response. I don't know how people are supposed to get feedback on their devvit apps.

Edit: why was this downvoted? Who's having a bad day?
