Is there anyone else whose heart melts for this beautiful couple? I was left wanting to see their story. 💗

Would it be a bunny (like Clover) or a cuter animal like a puppy or a cat! What would their gender and name be, and would they appear in season 2, later in the show, or not at all.

All of the above are current multi-princess products or ranges aimed at the brands main target age demo [and even younger] from the UK's Disney Store website.

I was inspired by this post claiming that saying that Raya doesn't fit the Disney Princess brand is misogynist.

What I think that u/Queasy-Meringue-2860 here doesn't get is that this isn't about saying that girls can't be tomboyish or heroes. We're merely saying that the aesthetics of the main DP brand. Despite all being current products, none feature Raya. In fact, there's no products based on her or her film on the UK store site at all.

And before you bring up film performance, notice how prominent Tiana is in these products? Her film famously under performed, and yet on products where there's only 3 or 4 characters, one of them is usually her. It's almost certainly because she fits the brands visual ideal so well with her big, poofy dress, particularly out of all of the princesses of colour [3 white princesses on a brand trying to dispel the misconception that their lineup is very white is a bad idea].

So, which princesses do they exclude the most? Merida [tomboyish, not from a musical, dark dress], Mulan [tomboyish, war legend rather than a fairy tale] and Pocahontas [not a fairy tale, brown dress]. Despite being accepted without conforming to traditional femininity being her whole arc, Mulan was marketed in her matchmaker dress for years and it is still the one that is used for kids costumes because it suits the ideal of the brand.

They no longer have Pocahontas costumes, but when they did, they heavily altered it to make it more glittery and glamorous.

Some changed the dress from beige to gold!

They do still sell two fashion dolls of her, and both added some gilding and such to her dress to make it more glamorous.

I honestly don't think Mulan and Pocahontas would have been a part of the original DP lineup if it wasn't for the fact that it would be so white without them.

Jasmine is the only other Princess who wears trousers, and that has a sort of half skirt around them in most designs of the outfit.

Now, if you're a 4 year old girl who's only allowed to buy one costume in the Disney Store, would you choose this?

I'm not saying that they never would, but most kids that young are going to choose a more stimulating. And have they ever had Raya costumes in the Bibidi Bobidi Boutique?

There's nothing wrong with these girly aesthetics or toys, just like there's nothing wrong with action figures. The only thing that's wrong is stigmatising genders playing with one or the other. If you had siblings of the opposite gender, you played with their toys and they played with yours. An ideal future is one in which a boy plays with the tea set below without fear of shame from his peers.

The association with feminine aesthetics like pink being in some way in opposition with feminism is actually regressive. I get where it comes from. Companies have a history of slapping pink on existing product and charging more to get people to buy the same product again for girls. However, there's nothing inherently wrong with boys or girls liking pink! The corporations are bad, not the colours! I think this is also why the myth that the films of Disney Princesses are far more misogynistic than they are was so prevalent 10 years ago.

Anyway, call me when they make a Raya ballet doll. I'll wait...

I’ve seen those post asking what their career would be what their major in school would be, but I haven’t seen anybody discussed who outright would and wouldn’t go or if they would take an alternative path. So this is your chance to share those headcanons.

Here’s what got:

College:

Snow White - I think she’d be a teacher and you need the masters degree to do that.

Cinderella, absolutely she’s getting away from her stepmother. She chooses the furthest college to get away from her.

Aurora - I personally been seeing her as a botanist or a veterinarian so either way you need school.

Ariel - she’s gonna need her masters and anthropology for the career I have in mind for her.

Belle - totally she’s majoring in English. She’s loving all the reading.

Mulan: I see her going into physical therapy. She needs the school for it.

Merida: she’s only going because her mother makes her.

Jasmine: I can see her going to school to study law, but not necessarily be a lawyer.

Vocational school:

Pocahontas - I don’t think she takes the traditional path and I think she’d have fun learning a different skill.

Tiana: cooking is a vocational school course. She doesn’t need a traditional college to do that unless she wants to learn the business side.

Moana: I totally think that she would pick up a skill faster than she would learning at a traditional school.,

Not going at all:

Rapunzel - I think she’s savvy enough to build her own business in art. I can see her deciding to open her own business and just deciding to learn at her own pace and watching YouTube videos.

Raya: I can’t see her going to school a traditional way. My headcanon says she’d be detective and I think the police Academy is different from a traditional college.

For a bonus, I’ll throw on Anna and Elsa. I can see Anna going, but then deciding to drop after her parents die or she gets pregnant. I can see her starting, but I can’t see her finishing.

And I definitely think Elsa is going on to get her masters degree.

My dad dug up a couple of photos of younger me wearing princess dresses. One of them is definitely Aurora’s but I’m having trouble recognising this one. For a bit of context, this was taken when I was around 3 or 4, so pre-Princess and the Frog. It might be just a generic dress and not a Disney one, but I was wondering if anyone might recognise it?

Moana is part of the official line up of Disney Princesses, but since she has gotten/been so popular, I wonder why Disney doesnt market her on her own like Anna and Elsa from Frozen? She got a sequel and live action remake in the span of 10 years, is never left out from merch, and highly recognizable/well loved.

If this means she would be removed from the line up, but I dont think its a negative thing. The more underrated princesses can fill her spot in merch or make room for new ones

Twisted Tale "is an anthology series of books based around alternate "What if" spins on Disney and Pixar animated films". Now I know the Wikipedia description is specifically says animated movies, but they could very well make books based on their live action movies.

• What if Ariel never brought music back to Atlanta?

2). Descendants:

• What if Red overthrew her mother?
  • I'm thinking the book could be a sequel to Beyond the Isle of the Lost, where Red's had it with her mother after what she did to Chester and Ace, and plans to demand that they be turned back to their normal selves after she captures her mother

3). Alice in Wonderland-

• What if Wonderland was real and Alice couldn't escape?

4). Return to Oz-

• What if Billina didn't kill the Nome King?
  • The Nome King's eaten Jack Pumpkinhead and Billina since she didn't lay an egg and kill her, but Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tik-Tok, and the Gump are able to escape into hiding and are figuring out a way to overthrow the Nome King once and for all

5). Lilo & Stitch-

• What if Reuben and Angel came to earth first instead of Stitch?

Why did she go through 3 days of work instead of just transforming Ariel into a polyp as soon as she came into her lair? If she just hid her polyp form somewhere that would crush a full sized Ariel if she reverted back to being human, she would’ve had the same amount of leverage over Triton as she did with the contract. And without any of the work.

Is she only able to transform someone with consent?

The disney princess brand has been making it painful clear since Mulan joined that you DON'T need to be a stereotypical traditional princess to be in the line up, all that is needed to be a official princess is to be a hero and if disney MADE you to be one, saying Raya does not "fit" the disney princess brand because she isn't "feminine" enough is sexist, tomboys ARE princesses too, so if you don't like Raya, then say that, but don't go the misogynistic route with comparing Raya to more "feminine" princesses, I have actually seen people say "this heroine wears a dress so she should be a disney princess not Raya!" Like, wtf is wrong with you????
