Dolly is a Genius, and no one's said it yet.

I just watched clips from the Barbara Walters/Dolly interview and YEESH. (No shade thrown, Miss Barbara.) but wow. No media coaching, no PR team, all completely improvised. Miss Parton just kept flipping the script, while Babs is like, "why are you poor trash people music?" (Dolly Honey don't roll your eyes back like that with 'dem lashes. u lobotomize uself!).

MY POINT: To be a woman in the country Music business for SEVENTY YEARS and dodge all the pitfalls? It's easier for men to think she's "an Icon" than realize that bitch could SLAY amongst men and always be one step ahead of The patriarchy without missing a beat.

"well, I'd kick your shins." Is my argument winner for the past few days.

✌️

You taught me the only sin in life is not to dare to dream, when I was a poor teeny tiny teenager I had nothing but a heart filled with determination of a better day tommorrow. I am where I am today because I knew the lyrics to your songs, you planted a seed in a kid and it turned into the happiest life a boy could have wished for.

And I will always love you, Dolly Parton.

When I men dolly

I met Dolly on one of her tours, and I swear I’ll never forget it. I was so nervous walking up to her that I forgot everything I wanted to say. She could tell and immediately made me feel comfortable. We talked for a little while, and somehow I ended up telling her about things I had been going through. Before I left, she looked at me and said, “Darling, I know you probably don’t believe this right now, but things won’t always feel like this. People will leave, and some things will change you, but don’t let those moments make you think your story ends there. You still have so much life ahead of you. Keep going, even when you don’t know where you’re going. One day, you’ll look back and realize how strong you really were.” I remember trying not to cry because it was exactly what I needed to hear. I went there wanting to meet someone I looked up to, but I left feeling truly heard. I still think about her words all the time.

Honoring Dolly Parton the Legend - from Nashville's Mayor Freddie O'Connor

Post image

Today I received my weekly email update from our mayor in Nashville - Freddie O'Connell. I wanted to share it with y'all because you may want to read how Nashville is honoring Dolly at the city level.

Nashville Remembers Dolly Parton

In Nashville and all over the world, people are paying tribute to Dolly Parton. A daughter of Tennessee and longtime resident of Nashville, Dolly was a beloved and iconic singer who touched hearts, inspired countless lives, and left a lasting impact on our community and children around the globe.

Nashvillians and visitors to Music City are sharing an outpouring of love and remembrance. From Dolly's Walk of Fame plaque to her new SongTeller hotel, tributes filled our streets and our screens as fans, organizations, and neighbors honored the country queen’s extraordinary legacy.

Mayor O'Connell ordered the Historic Courthouse and the Korean Veterans Memorial Bridge to be illuminated in pink, a symbol of Nashville's gratitude for Dolly's life and the joy she brought to so many. The mayor also joined the Nashville Public Library to spotlight her incredible legacy of strengthening childhood literacy through her Imagination Library and recent partnership with the Nashville Public Library Foundation to launch Begin Bright, a program to add Little Libraries to every childcare center in Nashville – another first-of-its-kind initiative.

The family has asked that donations go to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.

Dolly’s Literacy Legacy

Dolly believed a child’s dreams should never be limited by the circumstances into which they are born. That belief inspires our work to ensure every child in Nashville can reach their full potential.

Dolly's Imagination Library – mailing a free book each moth to children from birth to age five – has expanded from one program in Sevier County to a global force for early literacy. More than 300 million books have reached children around the world, and we're excited to be working with Imagination Library to build on that foundation with Begin Bright.

Begin Bright is a program to put little libraries filled with Dolly’s Imagination Library books in every childcare center in Nashville. Teachers and parents get literacy resources to help their young learners. It's made possible by the Nashville Public Library, the Nashville Public Library Foundation, and funding from generous donors and the city of Nashville.

So far, Begin Bright has installed little libraries in 69 childcare centers, and that number is growing quickly

Begin Bright is our commitment to ensuring Nashville’s youngest learners have a strong start. It honors Dolly’s enduring legacy and carries her mission forward for even more generations to come. "

Dolly is the world's best role model and has been my role model forever. Being a teenager, I as fortunate enough to grow up with Dolly's books. I have longed for Dolly's words of encouragement my whole life, and I cried so hard after the news of her passing, as I know those words of wisdom are irreplaceable.

I have also loved Lionel Messi most of my life. He is so humble and talented and is the GOAT. I went to see him play vs. Egypt. It was a fantastic game, but I regret not going to the World Cup Final because I knew it was his last World Cup game. Turns out he will never walk onto the field for Argentina again.

How did Dolly Parton made a great influence on your life since you’ve listened to her music for decades?

If you did hear her music, seen her own creativity became reality, how did that make you feel?

Dolly was so loved I feel like there should be a Holiday for her.

With how many people I've seen wanting Dolly to be named a saint, (which I feel like by rules of vox populi, she is technically already considered one because of that??? Idk i'll look more into it)

But we have things like Saint Patrick's Day, why not a Saint Dolly's Day? Could be on her birthday.

With heavy hearts, the Dollywood family mourns the passing of our beloved Dreamer-in-Chief, Dolly Parton. Everyone at Dollywood shares the sorrow of countless people around the world touched by Dolly's warmth, wisdom and generous spirit.

Dolly's heartfelt wish was that Dollywood always remain a place of joy, hope and togetherness—a space where families and friends could honor her memory, not with silence, but with laughter, music and shared dreams.

“The greatest privilege of my life has been helping Dolly bring her dreams to life at Dollywood,” said Eugene Naughton, Dollywood Parks & Resorts President. “Dolly's heart was as vast as the mountains she cherished, and her compassion knew no bounds. She inspired generations to dream boldly and love deeply. While we grieve her loss, we are honored and committed to carry her light forward. Her legacy will continue to shine in every melody sung, every smile shared and every dream kindled within these gates.”

Dolly's enduring legacy extends beyond her music and generosity to her remarkable work ethic—an inspiration to people everywhere. In her spirit, Dollywood will be open Wednesday as Dolly wanted, always reminding everyone with her signature sparkle -- “the show must go on.” Together, we honor her by carrying forward her message of love, perseverance, and hope

Today they took the Dolly Parton Channel away on Sirius/XM ☹️☹️

Upvotes

I was hoping it was going to be a more permanent thing. It seems like they only give dedicated permanent channels to guys. I know Chris Stapleton, Garth Brooks, Willie Nelson, Eminem, Jimmy Buffett, Bruce Springsteen, Frank Sinatra, Smokey Robinson and LL Cool J all have their own channels. It would have been so cool if she had a permanent dedicated channel. I know Cher and Tina Turner had dedicated channels for a bit but they took theirs away too.

We need another petition… 😆😆
