I met Dolly on one of her tours, and I swear I’ll never forget it. I was so nervous walking up to her that I forgot everything I wanted to say. She could tell and immediately made me feel comfortable. We talked for a little while, and somehow I ended up telling her about things I had been going through. Before I left, she looked at me and said, “Darling, I know you probably don’t believe this right now, but things won’t always feel like this. People will leave, and some things will change you, but don’t let those moments make you think your story ends there. You still have so much life ahead of you. Keep going, even when you don’t know where you’re going. One day, you’ll look back and realize how strong you really were.” I remember trying not to cry because it was exactly what I needed to hear. I went there wanting to meet someone I looked up to, but I left feeling truly heard. I still think about her words all the time.

Dolly is the world's best role model and has been my role model forever. Being a teenager, I as fortunate enough to grow up with Dolly's books. I have longed for Dolly's words of encouragement my whole life, and I cried so hard after the news of her passing, as I know those words of wisdom are irreplaceable.

I have also loved Lionel Messi most of my life. He is so humble and talented and is the GOAT. I went to see him play vs. Egypt. It was a fantastic game, but I regret not going to the World Cup Final because I knew it was his last World Cup game. Turns out he will never walk onto the field for Argentina again.

I've watched 9 to 5 many times and maybe it's because she's passed that the lunch scene where she eats by herself and the scene where she explains to her husband how she's tried everything to get people to like her and she doesn't understand why they don't..

I felt sad and I've never had that emotion when watching those scenes before..

Also doesn't the end of Whitney's version when she says "Darling I Love you" can't it be heard also as "Dolly I Love you 🥹

After Dolly’s passing, the first two things that came in my mind was the movie/show that introduced me to her. The show being Hannah Montana and the movie being Joyful Noise. I remember watching the movie whenever I was younger and loving it for so many reasons. The story, the music, the actors, etc. It was one of those few movies I watched on DVD over and over again with my family.

I decided to watch it again after seeing a clip of the movie on my timeline on Instagram and how all of the memories came back to me. If you hadn’t seen the movie, I would suggest watching it because it’s good and because I’m going to be talking about it, so spoilers ahead.

In the movie, Dolly’s character, G.G., becomes a widow early on in the movie as her husband passes away in the first 10 minutes of the movie. Later on, she has a talk with her grandson about her husband and how ever since his passing, she felt like her heart couldn’t beat right anymore and how she feels like she can’t do anything anymore without him being around. Her and her grandson goes on to sing “From Here To The Moon and Back” and in the scene, she is looking out the window and seeing her and her husband dancing outside under the moonlight.

After seeing it, I started crying and immediately thought of Dolly and her husband. I imagine that is what her and Carl are doing together in heaven right now. I was so sad at first after hearing the news of her passing. I still am at times. I swore that I would never watch anything of hers again, as it would hurt too much. However, she lived a long and good life. Her being reunited with her husband and other loved ones is keeping me comfort. I might just rewatch the episodes of Hannah Montana that she was in to honor her and remind myself that I shouldn’t hide from grief but embrace it
