Just Starting a Doomsday Kit

Hello! My partner and I would like to start a kit to prepare for the worst. His birthday is coming up and I have $250 to spend. What would you recommend buying first? My thought was a solar radio/power generator. If I could get together $500 what would you recommend? Thanks!

What kind of kit are you building? Is your plan to bug in or bug out or do you want a get home bag? I’d think about those questions first bc it can affect how your prep goes. Once you know the kind of prep you want to do then you can make a dedicated plan for that and not spend money on something you don’t want/need and won’t use.

One of the first things that you should consider is the bag itself. A really good pack.

What are you worried about happening and what would impact your life the most quickly? If you're worried about not electricity get a generator or battery back up and solar. Food supply? Water? Temperature extreme?

I think of Maslow's Heirarchy and start from there. Think of infrastructure and resources near you..
