Hi all, I’m a guy in my late 20s living in Sunderland. I'm looking to set up a group for people in their 20s and 30s in Sunderland, Durham and the surrounding areas, with an aim of simply meeting people and making friends.

My initial thought is to make a whatsapp group and from there organise a few different events. This could be anything from a coffee morning or a pub visit to a board games evening, walks, or any other activities people are interested in. These would probably be in or around Sunderland City Centre to start (or at Stack/the Sheepfolds), but I'm open to branching out to other places nearby too.

Looking at moving to Durham and I’d love to hear your recommendations of which towns/villages has access to the best dog walking spaces, walkways, green spaces, woods etc, without having to drive to get to it.

I currently have access to a forest and moors and I know leaving my current home means I’m unlikely to have access to similar unless we looked at Northumberland.

I'm an international student from Mexico starting an LLM at Durham this September. My government scholarship was only confirmed a few weeks ago, so I couldn't accept the college accommodation offer when it came through, and I'm now trying to sort out housing very late in the game.

Two things are making it harder:
My partner is moving with me as a dependant and isn't a student, which has already got me turned down by several places.
I don't arrive in the UK until around 20 September, so viewing in person beforehand isn't an option.

I'd really appreciate any advice on:

- Letting agents or landlords in Durham who are used to couples where only one person is a student

- Any local Facebook groups or noticeboards that are actually used rather than full of scams
