Spotted at the gym (ATL)
Rare that I see another e30 in the wild. I daily my white s52 swap but was a pleasure getting to park next to this beautiful 318is. The interior was especially minty.

We have the same 3 topics every day and it's cluttering the sub. "What do you think of this E30" and "What do I look for in an E30" are the ones I'm going to start deleting (soon).
We do have an FAQ with the absolute basics. If that. So help us out by suggesting or even writing the content that goes into it.

I have owned this for a little over a year. Previous owner installed the arc 8s and front flaps, and I just found the rear ones on marketplace recently. I also just fixed the vents and got a zhp knob and euro clock, so I figured it would be a good time to post. Thanks all for the community. I learned to drive manual just to be able to drive this car home.

this will replace the OBC with the included bezel. currently wired or wireless, but if the wireless doesn’t pass my stress tests i’ll keep it wired.

This is my 1988 325is, it’s my first car and it’s been amazing for the four years that I’ve owned / worked on it. I average about 60 - 80 miles per day and have just reached 200,000 miles. I’m excited to see just how high I can get it!

Still have to wait on the new rear brake caliper before I can move the touring outside :(

I don’t feel my idle causes me any issues….but does this cracking in the intake boot warrant replacement probably? Its been cracked since I bought the car. It was a desert/California car I bought it…probably can’t hurt?

I am looking for a replacement for this bushing that has come off where the torque converter meets the transmission on my 318i auto 1988 model.
I’ve checked bmw spare parts but they can’t find it as it only has a manufacturer number… any advise on what to do?

Ugh, so the battery in my '87 325e was a little weak. I asked this guy in a brand new RAM for a jump start and he was all stoked on the car and such, so I figured he knew what he was doing. I hook up my end of the cables, tell him it's good to go. He says the same so I crank the key and hear a POP! WTF!? So I look at my battery, all good. I run over and check his. He hooked them up to some MASSIVE random boat battery he had instead of his truck! Said "Well those things have computers in them so you can just jump them!" I just couldn't fucking deal with this so said thanks anyways.
No the car is completely and utterly dead. ZERO electrical anything happening when I turn the key. On this car, the battery got relocated from the trunk to in the bay at some point, so I'm hunting for the fusible link. Someone said it's a little ways down the smaller of the three wires on the positive terminal (one for starter, one for fuse box, third for ?) so I split the loom and can't find it. Someone else said that if it was the 50a link, the DME would be dead but I'd still be able to crank it.
I cant figure it out and my baby is just dead next to this random boat ramp pretty far from my shop. Any tips on getting it going would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all, I’ve finally gotten my e30 into running shape just need to dial in the tune but want to step into some better suspension. The front and rear are both really high and very soft. Any recommendations on some more track focused options. Keep in mind I am also running e36 m3 front struts, lca and knuckles but stock rear end. On a side note does anybody have recommendations on sway bar set ups to run? (Front no rear, rear no front, both) and thickness? Planning on doing a sort of time attack build

Channeling my inner Gordon Gekko energy here (OK, maybe Budd Fox energy as Gekko would have been in an E32)
The car rides SO much more smoothly with the 14” caps than those 16” abominations that were on there, even with H&R race springs and Bilstein B8 shocks (courtesy of the PO). It’s also much easier to steer at low speed too.
If anyone is interested in the wheels I just took off, HMU. Want them gone and don’t got much space to keep them

Area depicted in photo is where the C-pillar base meets the quarter panel shoulder (rear driver side) on an E30 Touring.
Is it possible to access the other side of this rust hole? I'd like to clean this area out from the other side and weld the hole with the aid of a copper backing plate.
Any tips on access would be greatly appreciated.

I did a full upgrade to my sound system around 18 months ago with a Blaupunkt head unit, Focal 5.25 speakers at the front, Alpine 6x9 rear speakers, 10 inch Alpine sub and 5 channel Audison amp with all new cabling.
While I’m generally happy with the upgrade I am looking to put larger speakers in the front. Has anyone had luck installing 6 or 6.5 inch speakers in the front with no modification?

Got another e30 lol this time 318is . Rebuilt the engine as soon as I got it home . Drove her from San Diego to AZ the very day I bought her and she drove perfectly , ac and all . Got home decided I wanted to just redo everything as I didn’t know when anything was done everything looked mostly stock . Good thing the profile gasket needed doing so naturally resealed the whole engine and Ended up replacing the timing case for the late model e36 one and doing tons of “mods” , z3 rack , reinforced front subframe , poly bushings , coilovers , coil on plugs conversion , lightened m20 flywheel , arp head studs(planning boost later) BBs RS’s (lol) . Needs to do the rear subframe bushings and reinforcement and some nice light tint .

For about a year and a half, the left side of my instrument cluster has had no lights. I take car for a car wash tonight and on the way home the light is working.
On a completely separate note - and this one is the really weird one - I swear to god it smells like coolant when I turn the radio on.
Anyone else have random shit?

Recently completed an M50 swap. Any tips or suggestions for things I should look out for or upgrade?

A 1984 316 first bought my grandfather new and used as a daily until the early 2000s and neglected a bit after that, but in my opinion it has a had a pretty good life within the family, it’s the car that my mom learned how to drive in, also the one that she used to sneak out in jajajaja, the car I remember me and my siblings used ride in the backseat of and now the car I learned how drive manual on, safe to say it is pretty much a family heirloom now!

Sacrificing a set of depo headlights to see if I can make some nice thin angel eyes for my touring.
A subtle cyberpunky touch does the e30 no harm, or at least.. we will see.
Can't argue about taste of course.
Unfortunately the headlights are not the only sacrifice made. While I was doing this little side project a friend of mine was wiggling at the rear brake caliper, closing the hood, leaving a nice little pimple on the hood.. because yeah, some stupid ass put a headlight there.
Anyways, posting this for the dude or lady who also likes this stuff.
Durability is of course questionable, since I already cut the connection twice on these strips while just handling the strip, fair warning there!
It is waterproof and I will epoxy the vulnerable zones.
The video's color spectrum is a little brighter then in rl.
It is a deep ambergold glow. You can get them also in all other colours and are infinitely cutable.
Haha, they're even dimmable... focus the intensity of your e30's gaze.
You might wonder why I have not focused on a clean, whole ring. That's because I ride with eyelids and these cover the top part. Also leaves room for the wire.
After my mot clears out and I made it sturdy, I will mount them and share a result and of course a tutorial.

Aftermarket headers are quite close to the oil filter, how much of a problem this is? Could it be heating up oil?
