Ada badges

So, I was wondering with the new online passes thing (which I already do admittedly think is stupid and annoying as a cosplayer who never had pockets and my phone always falls to the bottom of my bag), how are they planning on doing ada stickers? Since from my understanding it needs to be a physical thing so if someone is having a medical episode and cant communicate or cant communicate well, staff/security will know that hey you should be patient it is a disability and they have ada and arent just doing it to do it. (Since, unfortunately, many people still assume that disabled people are doing it for attention when they have medical episodes unless they have something physical on them to indicate it.)

And if their solution is to ALSO have it online or on the app (when we all know internet is terrible there), how are you gonna see or know that if the person happens to be unconscious? They cant unlock their phone.

Tldr; i think the digital passes are stupid and I'm worried about how it'll affect ADA.

i think they mentioned they’ll do wristbands for ADA and people who can’t use their phone. i also think going badgeless seems like a logistical nightmare.

And if they use generic paper wristbands, it's not going to stop scalpers - just the opposite. Those hired to check them aren't going to have the mental fortitude to scrutinize every single person. If they do, the logistics will be monstrous.

8 years experience volunteering for Sakura Con tells me this is going to be a bad year for ECCC. The convention center charges an exorbitant amount for an event to use their wifi, which is my guess as to why ticket prices went up. Signal strength is terrible without it.

Last year ECCC had overcrowding and overbooking/scheduling conflicts regarding vip guests. I'm skipping this con for a while.

Same I think, cosplay friends and I are looking into a different con to meet up during.

This is a legitimate question and I would also like to know the plans they have to address this.

Logistically I’m baffled how this will work on many levels. Especially in the old convention center. There are already so many congestion points that are going to be even more backed up. Anyone with kids is going to be &@$!ed if they have more than one badge on their phone and have to flip though that.

As for ADA I can only say may the odds be in your favor. Seriously, there are already so many accessibility issues this isn’t going to help.

Right now I’m not planning on going unless I end up helping a friend who is applying to vend there. After last year I said I would give it one more shot for them to make improvements before I say no more ECCC. This makes it a giant no.
