Discussion Frost build help

Im trying to make a frost build for my pure warden for pvp. Im currently using nunatak, hrothgar and winterborn with hrothgar double barred. I was wondering if frostbite might be better over winterborn. I know its not like the meta or whatever but between winterborn and frostbite which would probably do the most damage?

if u want frostwarden to be viable in pvp, masters perfected ice staff is essential

In pve yes. In PvP no, they’re one of the most common back bar weapons

Nunatak is exceptionally questionable in PvP tbh
I guess some silly goober might stand in it long enough for it to matter, but i wouldn't exactly count on it

Yeah thats what ive been noticing. Im more than likely gonna swap that out. I just wanted it to work more than it actually does lol

Between those two, I’d stick with Winterborn for pure damage. Frostbite sounds thematic, but Winterborn gives you a more noticeable payoff for a frost-focused PvP Warden.

I run a Frost Warden in PvP that is somewhat similar to yours:

And I would suggest that you do not double bar Hrothgars; the 4th and 5th piece bonus's (Penetration and the Proc itself) dont help you on your backbar...

I, personally, back bar Potentates for the passive Damage Reduction vs players as a better solution than double barring Hrothgars...

As for Nunatak, I use it and I love it; works well for ganking:

I’ve been running a pure warden with masters ice staff Fb and black rose daggers back bar that’s working pretty well. Then serpents disdain on body with 1 piece jewelry, heavy trainee chest, and druids braid necklace (2x 1 piece health bonuses).

It’s not fully frost themed cause you get more out of having a bunch of status effects up, but am using frost clench (for the masters staff), polar wind, northern storm, and have been flexing between winter’s embrace/contingency. Contingency gives a bit more burst which I like.

Could instead mix it up and use brp front bar and vate ice staff back bar, but I went with this cause I just got the masters staff drop and wanted to try it.

Keep hrotgar but I suggest you go this route 5 piece hrotgar plus 5 piece shattered fate, the flex spot is your monster set pieces, if the pressure from bombers too much use Nibenay Bay Battlefield set, if it's a not bomber type of day, use balorgh monster set for that massive pen spike. I would also suggest you split the Armor breakdown this way, 3 pieces heavy 1 light rest medium and be sure you have your undaunted passive for the bonus. Hope that helps

Yeah im gonna switch nunatak for balorgh prolly. And I try to keep 2 heavy 1 light rest medium but winterborn is only light so it limits me. But switch to shatter fate could be what I do

Best would be to go with winterborn jewelry, sash and weapon. Although I know how hard the farm is for the right wintering weapons, trust me. But it depends on your other sets and stuff. I usually splint front bar and back bar, meaning it’s only active in that one bar. That way you can use a mythic and a heavy uh chest of trainee. You could also drop the mythic for a monster set. But doing it that way is really useful. You might not be able too depending on your sets. If you use the masters ice staff for example you’ll have to shuffle things around. Personally I’d go aeries cry and wintebrone if you want the frost persona. Just gotta play around a lot

Yeah i dropped a mythic to run winterborn double barred with hrothgar just for fun. Im farmin for aeries cry now to run with winterborn but thatll take a minute with my luck in IA
