Hi guys do Belgian people have recommendations for halal restaurants or halal food places that serve good food (apart from kebab and tacos I’m already addicted to that already 🤣)

The Quran guides us to consume what is Halal and Tayyib (pure and ethical). With modern factory farming, it breaks my heart to think about how animals are treated. Have any of you transitioned to local ethical farms to honor the prophetic mercy toward animals?

I feel like many of us hold ourselves to a higher moral standard when it comes to eating meat because we believe halal meat is inherently more ethical. Yes, Islam places a clear emphasis on treating the animals with compassion, avoiding unnecessary suffering, slaughtering them in the least painful way etc. In theory, I think that's generally great.

But how much of that actually happens in modern industrial animal agriculture?

Who is holding halal slaughterhouses accountable? How do we know that the animals were actually raised and treated according to Islamic principles. Are we just expected to trust a halal label without questioning the conditions the animals lived in?

This becomes even harder for me to believe when you consider the sheer scale of meat consumption. Millions of people eat halal meat every day and animals are being bred,, transported and slaughtered in large numbers to meet that demand. Can they realistically provide every animal with the halal and humane treatment.

And what about the actual slaughter process? If hundreds or thousands of chickens are being processed in a facility every day, how can we realistically know that every animal is being handled carefully and humanely? Are they kept calm? Are they separated from animals being slaughtered? Are they prevented from witnessing other animals in distress? ESPECIALLY when a massive fast food chains labels certain products halal... Like come on do we seriously believe they keep the halal section of the factory utopian ?

I'm not saying halal principles themselves are the problem. If anything, I think the opposite. The principles are incredibly compassionate. My question is whether the modern meat industry is actually capable of following those principles at the scale at which we consume meat.

I’ve been working as a contractor for a small company for the last 3-4 years. My contract states a fixed monthly salary, and nothing was ever mentioned—either in writing or verbally—about Tax Deducted at Source (TDS). I always received the exact net salary amount promised to me every month, completely unaware that a deduction was happening behind the scenes.

Recently, I checked my official Income Tax portal out of curiosity and discovered they've actually been deducting 10% of my salary every single month for the past 2-3 years. Because the tax was deposited in my name by them, I went ahead and filed my ITR and received a tax refund directly to my bank account.

Here is my dilemma: since I agreed to work for a specific salary and never knew they were withholding a portion of it for taxes (which the government has now refunded back to me), is this refund money Halal for me to keep, or am I ethically/religiously obligated to return it to my employer since it came from their payroll filings?

Asked my mother to get me some gochujang paste and when she gave it to me I saw that there's alcohol under the ingredients. Is this alcohol because of natural fermentation or is it added and considered Haram? Pls advise.

Assalamu alaikum, I've been looking into good protein powders to use and GHOST and RYSE were two of the biggest names that kept coming up, especially when it came to flavour. However, I couldn't find much information online regarding whether GHOST Whey was halal compliant, particularly regarding the source of the rennet used to produce their whey, so I decided to email them directly. I'm sharing their responses here in hopes that it helps anyone else currently or in the future who's wondering the same thing.

TLDR: GHOST confirmed that their whey uses microbial rennet and their digestive enzymes are sourced from fruits and vegetables. They specifically confirmed Coffee Ice Cream, Milk Chocolate, and Peanut Butter Cereal Milk as halal compliant, although not halal certified. Based on their responses, the whey base itself doesn't appear to be an issue, so for other flavours it mainly comes down to checking the additional flavour specific ingredients. GHOST hasn't verified every ingredient or flavouring across every flavour, but from the ones I've looked at, most don't seem to contain anything obviously non halal. Obviously do your own due diligence based on the standard you follow. Screenshots of my conversation with GHOST are attached below.

Can someone in the Coral Gables(or nearby) area recommend a halal butcher/meat market. Looking to get one that has a good selection of steaks (Ribeye, strip, filet, etc).
